it's looking more awesome with every newer pic reveal.

Hopefully UT or another company creates a secondary face.

It would have been funny,if the art pic had the hands turned the way we all wanted them to be.

Why the Two different shades of Purple?

I like the darker purple better. The other purple looks to feminine Pink.

I'd imagine that is a combination of too harsh a flash plus an iffy white balance with a yellow cast. Most pictures lean towards the darker, bluer purple.

I would have loved this toy to be leader scale. So it could had been a competitive size with the AEC,MP & Movie Verse leader sized toys.

Yeah the wrist turned the proper way would have been nice also. I think the wrist turned sideways is just funny. as its looks like energon Scorponok & Cybertron scourge's sideways wrist position.

I'm going to be honest. I'm buying the toy as a place holder until something better gets released. The toy itself gets a C+.

I know deep down,Had MMC,FP or TFC taken this art design sketch & made it into a toy. It would have been leader size & had the Wrist turned the proper position. Only UT could take a amazing art design sketch like this & ruined it in physical toy form.

I think you are literally the only person who wants this thing in Leader scale. I highly, highly doubt that any company would have made this thing into a Leader scale figure.

Banjo-Tron,in this Thread,Wanted Mania King to be Eight inch Ultra Scale. Which is only One inch under the Nine inch Leader scale.

That's what I said in my Reply. You were looking for the Eight inch Ultra scale. So Mania King could be the same height as Classics FP City commander.

I was trying to imply, that I wanted the Nine Inch Leader scale. While you wanted the Eight inch Ultra Scale. Which was only One inch away. It was bigger than the Voyager scale. We were at the very least meeting in the middle & did want a slightly bigger scale for Mania king.

Agreed. It also makes sense to me that Galvatron would be a bit larger than Megatron being that he is essentially a souped-up version, I think this figure will be slightly taller then the classics mould, but will be smaller then Hegemon. Luckily I don't use Hegemon as my Megatron.

I don't focus on those things when buying something like this.

I would like the wrist to be different, but it's not a deal breaker.

This, I don't understand at all. You find it to be subpar. You critique it negatively. Why would you spend money on it? That makes no sense to me. I'd surely hate to spend $115.00 for a "placeholder"

But you don't know that. FP most likely wouldn't have tackled Leader Class.
MMC, possibly, but it would cost a LOT more.
TFC is overpriced and over simplified, with a bunch of partsforming.

UT didn't ruin the sketch. The figure, arms and all, looks exactly like the artwork.

That might be a full time job...

The more I see this, the more tempted I am to get it. I'm not overly crazy about the bot mode, but I do really like that cannon mode. And I do have to admit that I am far less critical of the bot mode now than I was at the beginning of the project. Perhaps some color helped?

Same - my views of this are much less negative (I certainly don't view it as a C+ ;) ), and it's tempting, but I still can't justify jumping in.

I'd say it's a B-
definitely on the right track and a hell of a lot better than any other current option. but there's the hands, the head, the colours and the white cannon all putting me off. quite happy to put off buying this for now.
as I stated earlier in the thread, I have no interest in leader sized figures unless they're of larger characters. Jetfire is probably the biggest "normal" bot I'd take at that size. honestly the "Leader class" is one of the most disappointing aspects of the recent Hasbro lines. I get Primes being at that size, if they're trucks and the trailer is included, because it bulks up the package and keeps the bot at more or less normal size (give or take a Super mode). I think that anything larger should be some kind of combiner or have an alt mode that's specifically designed to indicate the bot is abnormally large. City bots, giant dinosaurs (like T-Rex's), etc. Having the main characters in normal size classes and then in stupidly over-large versions when compared to the rest of them just seems like a total waste of plastic.
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

I totally agree about leader class figures being a waste of time. I’m under the assumption "leader class" was created for the movie line and used for characters deemed important enough to get a huge figure. They look great on your coffee table, but aren’t really in scale with any other figures.

I still could care less about the fists. So they don’t swivel, who cares ? The wrists/fists are molded in the proper human anatomy for most poses. Granted, being able to swivel the wrists would allow for more poses. But considering most everyone will be displaying this figure with classics Cyclonus (another figure with no wrist swivel) I don’t see a big deal. It goes quite well with the figures it was made to display with. You’re not paying $115 for a figure with extreme possibility (such as MP figures) You’re paying $115 to have a properly scaled Galvatron that doesn’t transform into stupid tank or plane. I think that’s what UT was shooting for, and they pulled it off nicely.

The only thing I find annoying is all the white on the cannon tip. But there are multiple options:

• Paint it metallic orange with spray paint
• Leave it alone and call it “neo”
• E-mail Reprolabels and suggest a Mania King label set that includes orange cannon labels

I think you're assumptions about "leader class" is wrong. Didn't they made "leader class" figures in Energon/Armada/ and Cybertron.

I've still not made up my mind on the figure. I don't really want it but I see all the good points of it too. Best classics Galvatron? definitely. Funny looking Gorilla bicep curling arms? yea its still there =/ and it still bugs me. Reviews and in-hand pictures of this guy will sway me one way or another.

I started collecting in 2007 with the movie line so I have no idea if Leader class figures came out before that. I cant think of any off hand except maybe Tidal Wave and the Jetfire mold used to make Timelines Astrotrain. I dont know what class they were listed as being.

Im still not sure what everyone means by "bicep curl" or how being able to swivel the wrists will make the biceps look any different. Are people trying to say he looks like he is holding dumbells ? Call me dumb, but I just dont get the comparison. Does classics Cyclonus have a "bicep curl" too since his wrists dont swivel ? All Im seeing is normal human anatomy on this figure. The arms straighten out pretty straight in my opinion.

Cyclonus can do this:
Image

All this not-Galvatron can do is bend his elbow inward in relation to his hand/fist, so he can basically only pose like a monkey scratching its own armpits:
Image

This not-Galvy can't bend at the elbow with anything but the palm of his hand facing upwards, i.e. like a bicep curl. So he can't bend at the elbow with his hand in a more natural position with his thumb facing upwards as if say, holding a weapon in his hand or shaking hands with someone.

The non-swivel wrists and bicep curl are two separate issues. Cyclonus' arm can actually straighten out. ManiaKing's cannot => bicep curl.

[rant] Cyclonus was a $10 back in the day - swivel wrists are not necessarily something you expect at that price point. This is an expensive collector's item, and if we don't feel like living with the flaws we see, we shouldn't have to pinch our noses and make the dive in if we don't want too.

You can feel free not to care about flaws such as the wrists, disappointment with the head/cannon, etc., but you're basically telling us to suck it up, which isn't right either. Between this thread and the Impossible Toys Mini-Bots one, it seems that money is of no object to you. Well, whoopty-doo. We've been over this before, but $115 is $115, and we have the right to quibble about aspects of the figure we don't like given that sum of money. [/rant]

Also, yes, Leader Class figures starting showing up during the Unicron Trilogy. Tidal Wave was technically not a leader - I don't think the classes for the other figures weren't so well defined at that point. Although he was huge, he came in the same size packaging as Scorponok:

So in other words Mania King has out-dated beast wars articulation for his arms ? So the bicep complaint and the wrist complaint are two seperate issues ? I was always under the assumption they were the same complaint. I cant say Im bothered by either of them. Sure Fansproject spoils us with all kinds of crazy articulation. But I dont put down other companies for not doing the same thing. I look at the figure for what it has, not for what it doesnt have. You could drive yourself crazy nit picking little things that might have not mattered to the designer or those collectors he solicited feedback from in China.
