You're right, 50$ for an old voyager sized toy is CRAZY, hasbro would never....
Except wasn't it originally supposed to come with trailer, trailer was dropped but price never changed? Its an exception, not a rule.
I thought the trailer was dropped so that they could sell it at $50. I have never heard of it originally coming with a trailer.
And I never said it was a rule. I just said we can't rule anything out since there's a precedent for everything now.

This was my understanding as well, especially with the three big chunks of die cast metal on the figure. Imagine what the price would have been with the trailer. $70? $80?

Leave it to Dead Metal to have the word 'Pronz' in his signature.
The 1996 Rattrap mold is long gone, hence why they went with the Transmetal back during the 10th anniversary.Zeedust wrote:Hopefully if it is the non-Transmetals, they'll give us a reissue of the basic Rattrap this time around;

Doesn't Hasbro have the specs on paper? Couldn't they just rebuild the mold?Sabrblade wrote:The 1996 Rattrap mold is long gone, hence why they went with the Transmetal back during the 10th anniversary.Zeedust wrote:Hopefully if it is the non-Transmetals, they'll give us a reissue of the basic Rattrap this time around;

Not without the Master, even then cutting (new) molds is really expensive. The problem is, we don't know the exact state of the tooling, whether it's just missing (which would make cutting new ones a bit redundant when they're found again) or downright broken or degraded beyond use.
And I thought Transmetal Rattrap being used for BW 10th instead of the original Basic was nothing more than logistics, really. Putting a Basic figure in a line set as "Deluxe only", yeah no.

Third party, I think.ZeroWolf wrote:Wait four Rattrap figures? What the other one besides basic, T30 and Kingdom?

Anyway, I think the torso of Basic Rattrap looks better than the Kingdom one does. The proportions of the Beast Mode head look weird on the new figure. Wherein it has been made too small. It isn't just supposed to be a small emblem on the centre of his chest.
I've always had a soft spot for Basic Ratface, regardless. I own two of them, after all. That said, the Generations one looks awful...

His translucent plastic might make him a bit delicate nowadays.Emerje wrote:AllNewSuperRobot wrote:I thought Drill Bit was considered the worst of the Basic figures?
I like Drill Bit. He's a bug with a drill face, what's not to like?

Personally I've never been a fan of the original Rattrap figure, I don't even own one because I didn't like it as a kid teen despite liking the character a lot. I've always felt it was the absolute worst of the Basic figures and a terrible rat likeness, especially that row of long fangs. Kingdom Rattrap isn't that much smaller than the original and has a far better looking rat mode and scales better with the smaller scale of Kingdom figures.
(From Deluxe Baldwin on YouTube)
Sure not going to try to change your opinion, but the size differences are so minor and the aesthetics are so different I don't think the original would look any better with Kingdom.

Yeah, the Terrorsaur mold showing up in AOE came as a shock to everyone, as it too was believed to have been lost like the Rattrap, Insecticon, and Armordillo molds.Zeedust wrote:Jelze Bunnycat wrote:And I thought Transmetal Rattrap being used for BW 10th instead of the original Basic was nothing more than logistics, really. Yeah, that was my assumption as well.
They pulled the original Terrorsaur mold out of mothballs for use in AoE, so we know at least one of the first-wave basic-class BW molds was available for use in a 2014 toyline. The BW 10th anniversary toyline was 2006. I'm skeptical about the idea that Rattrap's mold was unusable by then when Terrosaur's, which got reused far more, was still good 8 years later.

Wait, what? I just had to check this and wow. That has got to be the most random redeco ever. A 20 year old mold used as something in a main toyline...
