Overlord, easily. He'd come out in perfect cartoon scale with Legends God Ginrai.

Another Overlord would be nice, but judging by that poster we're going to have Megatron, Galvatron and Beast Wars Megatron in this line, so a fourth villain leader would probably be a bit of overkill.
1. Two of those are technically the same guy, and while them being on the poster means they'll be in the story... it doesn't necessarily mean both forms will be in the Kingdom line itself.
2. The villains in Transformers are very prone to factionalism as well as uneasy alliances. So having multiple villain leaders is perfect for that.
3. Overlord fits the size class very well, and would be able to give the baddies an exquisite base.

Munkky wrote:Speaking of the poster, can anyone figure out what that pink thing above Tigatron is?
I think it's Arcee.
WANT:
* Cyb. Galvatron key, missiles
* Omega Lock
* Primus Cyber Key, coattail panel
* Powerlinx Comettor
* Leader Sentinel Prime sword, shield
* RiD Galvy dragon head, beast arms
* Leader Ironhide windshield, R hood assy.
* Cyb. Wing Saber left chestplate (argh)

Wouldnt mind Magmatron as a commander class but that's probably because I've never had a figure of him. I think commander class is a bit overpriced for three combiners but it's cheaper than big powered so not sure if it would work or not. So far the commander classes have been figures that havent suited easy repaint options, not sure if that is going to continue or if a new class would be needed for 3 team member combiners, but it would be nice to see them.

Probably depends on the audience. It wouldn't bother me and I think beast wars should be celebrated more as the line that saved TF and allowed it to keep going. The movie also deserves to be celebrated for the risks it took (despite being cynically motivated).

Commander Tidal Wave would fit the billl, plus you can make him combinable with Galvatron. As for the titan, maybe Warden got his wish. It has been 7-8 years since Metroplex was made ;)

I think Transformers would have come back anyway, but I don't discount Beast Wars part in it. I miss my Beast Wars collection (which was actually 95% based on the show - I got a couple others that were just cool toys) and I'll get some of the Kingdom guys.

The cynical motivation of Hasbro for Transformers: The Movie does nothing to change seeing it in the theater at 11 years old, just like the constant thought revision throughout the years (my own) on it's implications in the franchise. All that is meta-talk, but when I watch it with my kids none of that matters.

I have no doubt that Transformers would still be a popular property if you take Beast Wars out of the equation. However, when you look around at other comparable franchises like Masters of the Universe, G.I. Joe, or even Voltron or My Little Pony, they pale in comparison to the range of toys and media that we get. The Bay movies probably still would have happened, but multiple animated franchises? Four or five major fictional universes, and not just continuous but multiple overlapping toylines? Transformers isn't just nostalgia media for aging nerds but a vibrant ever-evolving multi-generational cultural touchstone. I don't think you have that without the success of Beast Wars.

I know, I'm not arguing so much as using comparable toy lines to compare how good we have it, and to emphasize the way Beast Wars fundamentally expanded what the franchise could be. The diversity of universes, storylines, and toy play features are some of Transformers' greatest strengths, and Beast Wars was proof for those concepts. We'll never know what the brand would be like without it, but we're definitely better off.

More broadly, there just aren't any other successful toy IPs on this level. TFs might not be as big as the major movie- or comics-led properties, but they're the next best thing.

Although I don't see buying any of the BW figures, I do hope they're good. I'd say the ER figures in some ways are a step-up in the grand scheme of updates, however one challenge I've always seen with BW is the compromises that have to be made because of such contrasting modes and of course the transformations.

My initial thought with Kingdom is that it's an attempt to get G1 fans swayed to Beastland, and if nothing else, gives BW fans a nod and some hope for updated figures in future lines past what we know of.
But I'm worried that it's a stretch for both fan bases and could end up being a letdown for all.
Basically meaning 6 episodes isn't many to do a ton; I'm prepared for holes in the plot and unanswered questions.
Who knows, maybe it'll be genius.

Either way, it's helping to justify more figures. So there's that.

I'd expect the Earthrise cartoon to lay the groundwork for a transition so assuming that episodes stay the same across three series there will be 18 across the whole trilogy.

To be honest, I'd be happy enough with either. Just think it's time for a con commander (a conmander?) And unless they start doing multiple characters at the price point, I'm drawing a blank on characters that (besides redos like Overlord or smaller comics based Scorponok)

Transition to WHAT seems to be the question. Will it continue to be fanservice? Will the series..ahem...transform the line to something new and original? Will the dead horse that is Geewun continue to yield bacteria and gasses that turn into VERY VERY VERY slight changes in current molds like BB, Starscream, Prime, and Megs with new labeling? Or can the dirt finally absorb that corpse and digest it, using it to turn the old, tired, beaten-into-the-ground ideas into something new, exciting, and beautiful?

I'll put my money that someone at Hasbro froze parts of that dead horse for later use and will thaw it out for use... :BANG_HEAD: :-(
It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.
