1. Two of those are technically the same guy, and while them being on the poster means they'll be in the story... it doesn't necessarily mean both forms will be in the Kingdom line itself.Munkky wrote:ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:Overlord, easily. He'd come out in perfect cartoon scale with Legends God Ginrai.Rodimus Prime wrote:He got a leader class figure and a rerelease in the spoiler pack. I don't think he'll be the Commander Class figure. So far we got 2 Autobots so it's time for a Decepticon. But who? Which Decepticon fits that size scale-wise from G1?
Another Overlord would be nice, but judging by that poster we're going to have Megatron, Galvatron and Beast Wars Megatron in this line, so a fourth villain leader would probably be a bit of overkill.
I think it's Arcee.Munkky wrote:Speaking of the poster, can anyone figure out what that pink thing above Tigatron is?

I'm sure that's a popular conversation starter.

Probably depends on the audience. It wouldn't bother me and I think beast wars should be celebrated more as the line that saved TF and allowed it to keep going. The movie also deserves to be celebrated for the risks it took (despite being cynically motivated).
sol magnus wrote:I think Transformers would have come back anyway, but I don't discount Beast Wars part in it. I miss my Beast Wars collection (which was actually 95% based on the show - I got a couple others that were just cool toys) and I'll get some of the Kingdom guys.

I have no doubt that Transformers would still be a popular property if you take Beast Wars out of the equation. However, when you look around at other comparable franchises like Masters of the Universe, G.I. Joe, or even Voltron or My Little Pony, they pale in comparison to the range of toys and media that we get. The Bay movies probably still would have happened, but multiple animated franchises? Four or five major fictional universes, and not just continuous but multiple overlapping toylines? Transformers isn't just nostalgia media for aging nerds but a vibrant ever-evolving multi-generational cultural touchstone. I don't think you have that without the success of Beast Wars.
AcademyofDrX wrote:I know, I'm not arguing so much as using comparable toy lines to compare how good we have it, and to emphasize the way Beast Wars fundamentally expanded what the franchise could be. The diversity of universes, storylines, and toy play features are some of Transformers' greatest strengths, and Beast Wars was proof for those concepts. We'll never know what the brand would be like without it, but we're definitely better off.
More broadly, there just aren't any other successful toy IPs on this level. TFs might not be as big as the major movie- or comics-led properties, but they're the next best thing.
I think you're right about Metroplex getting redone, but I also believe Tidal Wave deserves a titan class figure as well.ZeroWolf wrote:Commander Tidal Wave would fit the billl, plus you can make him combinable with Galvatron. As for the titan, maybe Warden got his wish. It has been 7-8 years since Metroplex was made

ZeroWolf wrote:I'd expect the Earthrise cartoon to lay the groundwork for a transition so assuming that episodes stay the same across three series there will be 18 across the whole trilogy.

Its kind of like Basic Instinct, but not in a good way...
Goddammit, now I can't unsee it.

It was actually Car Robots (the Japanese original) 20th anniversary This Year. So far.. We got nothing for it.
We just got new Sky-Byte toys in Cyberverse, on top of the Voyager class Sky-Byte we got back in Thrilling 30.Sentinel_Primal wrote:I just realized that because it'll be RID2001 20th anniversary next year, we might see some a Kingdom Sky-Byte, with a SELECTS repaint as Cybershark

A haiku in honor of this post:
Car Robots has turned twenty
Sky Byte May Still Come
But Hasbro Hates Firetruck Prime
