I look at their "demise" as more of Starscream's embellishment. They were probably severely injured to the point they couldn't pursue Starscream into Darkmount further. RID wasn't going to use them anyway, but a personal head canon of "they survived" is easy enough to justify, as I also prefer keeping characters alive.

I feel like the embellishment is him taking credit for the defense system's work, but pretending that they aren't dead, or that their deaths don't symbolize the death of the dragon-Preds as a concept, feels like it'd just be denial, especially with the abandonment of the beastman-style baddies and shift towards G1-ized Decepticons that Starscream's new body marked the start of.

After seeing the Sky Shadow figure I did a little research on him.

According to TFwiki he is a thief which could be a very interesting story. I always have enjoyed stories about pirates, bandits and rouges. If they made a spotlight issue or a miniseries with him going on rougish adventures I would read the heck out of it!

Reflector has always been a character that has fascinated me. Not quite a combiner, yet not a normal Decepticon either. I've always found the concept of Reflector really cool and I think that they could explore it and take it to some cool places.

But they can't do that because he never shows up. He was in the first season of G1 a fair amount, but just kinda disappeared after that. I would love to see more of Reflector.

Due to his origins as a Valkyrie/Veritech, I feel like they've always tended to underuse Jetfire, even in his modified "Skyfire" character model, when he really deserved much higher useage. Granted same can be said for most of the non-Takara originated figures, save Shockwave, Skylynx, and Omega Supreme.

As for Takara figures, Hubcap could have used some appearances in fiction.

If anything, Jetfire's been used quite a fair bit I find. He strangely took up a leadership role very shortly in Marvel UK, he was one of the central players in Dreamwave's G1 Vol. 3 and War Within: Dark Ages; and he's been a main part of the Autobot cast throughout every era of IDW - heck, right now in the Optimus Prime comic he's getting a LOT of backstory and proper characterisation. He's doing pretty well.
