The action blockbuster stormed into the traditionally tough July 4 holiday rising day-on-day to take $29.1m - setting the all-time record for the holiday ahead of SPIDER-MAN 2's $21.9m.
The three-day (July 6-8 ) weekend saw the behemoth add $70.9m. This brings the colossal six-day total (including Monday July 2 previews) to $155.8m - cracking yet another record to become the biggest first week for a non-sequel in history. The result beat 2002's SPIDER-MAN which recorded $151.6m in its launch week.
TRANSFORMERS is already fast approaching the $100m mark in international box office, currently standing on $96.7m. Worldwide the film has already surpassed the $250m mark, with a total gross of $252.5m. |

They have announced that Rik Alvarez from the Transformers Advisory Council to Hasbro's Transformers Collector's Club will at TransformersCon. He will host a panel and answer questions about the Official Club and Convention. Here is the update from the people running TransformersCon:

Official Press Release:DreamWorks will be treating thousands of fans to a preview of what is coming up from the studio at this year's Comic-Con International, being held from July 13-17 in San Diego, CA. Those who come by the DreamWorks booth (#3729) will have an opportunity to be among the first to attend exclusive advance screenings of two of DreamWorks' big live-action summer releases. They will also see, firsthand, some exciting behind-the-scenes props and sets, including one big surprise, yet to be announced.
Here is some of what awaits fans visiting the DreamWorks booth at Comic-Con International:
* Free passes to a special advance screening of Michael Bay's new futuristic action thriller The Island.
* Free tickets to the first public screening of Wes Craven's new suspense thriller Red Eye.

Opening nationwide on July 22, The Island stars Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson as Lincoln Six-Echo and Jordan Two-Delta, two residents of a seemingly utopian but contained facility in the mid-21st century. Like all of the inhabitants of this carefully controlled environment, Lincoln and Jordan hope to be chosen to go to the "The Island" - reportedly the last uncontaminated spot on the planet - until they learn that everything about their existence is a lie and that they are actually more valuable dead than alive. Michael Bay directed The Island from a screenplay by Caspian Tredwell-Owen and Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci, from a story by Tredwell-Owen.
A suspense thriller at 30,000 feet, Red Eye opens nationwide on August 19. Lisa Reisert (Rachel McAdams) hates to fly, but the terror that awaits her on the night flight to Miami has nothing to do with a fear of flying. Moments after takeoff, her seatmate, Jackson (Cillian Murphy), menacingly reveals the real reason he's on board: He is an operative in a plot to assassinate the Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security and Lisa is the key to its success. Red Eye was directed by Wes Craven from a screenplay by Carl Ellsworth, from a story by Ellsworth and Dan Foos.
Opening nationwide on October 7, Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit is the first feature-length film featuring the beloved characters from Aardman's Academy Award®-winning shorts in a brand new comedy adventure. An action-packed sci-fi thriller, Kazuaki Kiriya's Casshern blends Japanimation and manga-inspired live action resulting a new kind of hybrid filmmaking that is both visually stunning and thought-provoking. The story takes place late in the 21st century, following a half century of war that has left the planet ravaged and the entire human race dispirited and exhausted. A geneticist brings hope in the form of a "neo-cell," which can rejuvenate human parts with no risk of rejection, but nature interferes with science to create a new menace that forces the entire human race to fight an ultimate war against its own extinction. DreamWorks will release the Japanese hit under the banner of its specialty film division, Go Fish Pictures.
Bruce Willis and Garry Shandling head up the all-star voice cast of the computer-animated comedy Over the Hedge, based on the popular comic strip by Michael Fry and T Lewis. When a group of woodland creatures find a suburban housing development encroaching on their forest home, they become unlikely allies as they learn to co-exist with - and even exploit - this strange new world called suburbia. Over the Hedge is slated for release by DreamWorks Animation in Summer 2006.
Flushed Away is a computer-animated comedy adventure set on and beneath the streets of London, starring the voices of Hugh Jackman and Kate Winslet. Roddy (Jackman) is an upper-crust "society rat," who is rather rudely evicted from his Kensington flat when he is flushed down into Ratropolis, the bustling sewer world under London's streets. There, he meets Rita (Winslet), an enterprising scavenger. Though completely out of his element at first, the privileged Roddy finds himself an unlikely hero when he learns that Ratropolis is in danger from the world above. From DreamWorks Animation and Aardman, Flushed Away is scheduled for release in Fall 2006.

The Official Transformers Club has made it official. In an official
press release, Hasbro announces that
IDW Publishing will be releasing new comics for the Transformers brand. The follow is a direct quote from the
press release;
PAWTUCKET, R.I. (May 19, 2005) – The Hasbro Properties Group (HPG), the intellectual property development arm of Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE: HAS), intends to license its popular TRANSFORMERS brand to IDW Publishing for the introduction of a new line of TRANSFORMERS comic books. Adding to the successful TRANSFORMERS comic book library that currently includes more than 30 titles, IDW will re-launch a much-anticipated new line of TRANSFORMERS comics. The first comic, a special introductory “0†issue, would debut in October 2005. The next comic in the series would debut in January 2006. The comic books are expected to include the classic Generation One (G1) storyline, as well as new plotlines and new series, and would be distributed to a wider audience through comic book outlets, trade bookstores and mass retailers.
“This year, the TRANSFORMERS property will gain greater exposure among both core supporters and new fans of the brand, as the comics are distributed at mass market for the first time,†said Tom Klusaritz, vice-president of global publishing for the Hasbro Properties Group. “We’re excited that IDW plans to publish the TRANSFORMERS comics, as well as expand upon the storyline by utilizing the best TRANSFORMERS writers and illustrators globally.â€
IDW Publishing, the publishing arm of Idea and Design Works, LLC, is the comic book licensee of several popular shows, such as CSI (CBS), 24 (FOX), and ANGEL (Fox). IDW is also home to successful adaptations of comics based on the Konami videogames Metal Gear Solid and Castlevania, and movie adaptations from Dawn of the Dead to Shaun of the Dead. In both 2004 and 2005, they were awarded Diamond Comics’ Gem Award for “Publisher of the Year.†For the TRANSFORMERS series, IDW plans on using a mix of well-known and up-and-coming illustrators, inkers and writers to bring the property to new heights.
“The TRANSFORMERS brand is a great addition to IDW’s line of licensed comic books, and we look forward to expanding on an extremely successful property and returning TRANSFORMERS comics to a still-anxious marketplace,†said Ted Adams, President/Publisher of IDW Publishing.
The first TRANSFORMERS comic books were introduced to fans of the toy line more than two decades ago. In 2002, HPG re-launched the TRANSFORMERS comic book series.

TRANSFORMERS, a favorite among kids and collectors alike, has much to celebrate in 2005, starting with the brand’s leap to the big screen for its first, worldwide live-action film, slated for release in fall 2006. DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures will develop the movie, with Steven Spielberg as Executive Producer. The film will bridge all aspects of the TRANSFORMERS brand, from toys to licensed merchandise.
In addition to the pending IDW arrangement, TRANSFORMERS will be available in Readers Digest hard books and chapter books, as well as a series of Dorling Kindersley children’s books available in the United States. Fans in Europe can enjoy TRANSFORMERS books from Egmont, Red Bird, Titan, Edigamma and Panini.
The TRANSFORMERS brand will continue to expand in 2005 as Paramount Home Entertainment releases three DVDs. The first two, released in February, are “Transformers: Omega Supreme†and “Transformers: Shockblast Unleashed!.†The third DVD, yet untitled, will be released in September.
