As the 3rd wave of Takara version Transformers Animated figures will be officially released this weekend in Japan, Japanese Transformers collector - Alfes 2010 once again gives us a closer look at the leader of the Dinobots - Grimlock.
Takara gives Grimlock a shiny metallic paint work, and the color used are closer to Grimlock's Generation 1 counterpart.

Hasbro Inc has revealed the second nominee for the final slot of the Transformers Hall Of Fame.
He is the creator of Computron, always feels he is more capable than Optimus Prime to lead the Autobots and the undisputed leader of the Dinobots - Grimlock.
Check out the Hasbro article on Grimlock:
"Fan’s choice nominee #2 is: GRIMLOCK
“Me GRIMLOCK king!”
GRIMLOCK fought his way through the gladiatorial pits underneath Kaon to become one of the greatest warriors on CYBERTRON. Having joined the AUTOBOTS early on during the Great War, GRIMLOCK made it clear he never trusted OPTIMUS PRIME to properly lead the AUTOBOTS. Due to his shock and awe approach to combat, GRIMLOCK is not regarded as a great military leader. However, he has fought and survived through enough battles to earn top ranking position among the AUTOBOTS. Having struck out on his own, GRIMLOCK eventually found himself leader of the DINOBOTS, a special operations strike force unit that can power through most barricades and DECEPTICON strongholds. During a battle with the DECEPTICON SCORPONOK, GRIMLOCK’s vocal processors were damaged, leading to his awkward and distinct way of speaking. If GRIMLOCK has a weakness, it is his larger than Prime ego and his lack of patience.

We've had a lot of rumors this month, and another one has come out of the pipes. While rumors tend to bring happiness along with them, this one has the opposite effect. We regretfully inform everyone that Hasbro might have just shut down the
Transformers Animated toy line for good. As reported by
TFormers, one of their members got a response from Hasbro in regards to Transformers Animated inquiries. This was the response.
Thank you for contacting Hasbro, Inc. regarding the Transformers Animated Blackout and Thundercracker. We appreciate your interest in our company and products.
Regrettably, both products have recently been discontinued. We are, therefore, unable to assist you in identifying retail markets which may still have this product in inventory nor do we have any available for direct sale.
Although they are no longer in our current product line, you may still be able to find them in retail stores. Some of the retail stores that carry Hasbro products include Toys R Us, Wal-Mart, Kmart, and Target.
We apologize for any inconvenience. We hope you and your family will enjoy Hasbro products for many years to come.
Now what exactly does this mean for us? Animated has been discontinued since the spring of 2009. The remaining figures we were anticipating were meant to be store exclusives, much like Toys 'R' Us with Arcee and Cybertron Mode Ratchet. Does this also mean that the presumed store exclusives have been discontinued?
The remaining Hasbro Animated figures are listed below.
Thundercracker
Blackout
Rodimus Minor
Ironhide
Vortex Blurr
Fugitive Waspinator
Wingblade Optimus Prime
Toxic Oil Slick
Mudbuster Bulkhead
Hydrodive Bumblebee
Golfire Grimlock
Whether there is truth to this rumor or simply a misunderstanding, we'll be the first ones to update everyone on the official confirmation. What's your opinion on the situation? Feel free to sound off your opinion in the Energon Pub!

We recently
reported that the soundtrack to the 1986 animated Transformers movie was named one of the Top 10 Sci-Fi soundtracks of all-time by Totalscifionline.com
The highlight of that album for many has always been the iconic rock anthem "The Touch" by Stan Bush. Totalscifionline.com recently took some time to interview Stan about not only making the list, but many other topics as well.
Here is an excerpt.
Were you commissioned to write 'The Touch' for Transformers the Movie, or did the song exist before then?
We actually wrote ‘The Touch’ for the Stallone move Cobra, but the record label ended up getting the song in Transformers: The Movie. I remember initially thinking it was just some cartoon movie, but little did I know it would become such a phenomenon.
What did you make of the movie and the use of your song in it?
It was very cool. I attended the screening and met some of the people who worked on the movie. It was great how they featured 'The Touch' in the crucial moments in the film.
Did you get to meet any of the cast, such as Orson Welles?
I met Weird Al Yankovic [who also featured on the soundtrack]. He was on the same record label, and we met at an industry party. I also met Greg Berger [Grimlock] and Peter Cullen [Optimus Prime].
You may read the entire interview
here.

There are many famous voice actors in the Transformers universe. Obviously, Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime and Ironhide), Frank Welker (Megatron, Soundwave, Galvatron and the cassettes), and Chris Latta (Starscream, Sparkplug and Wheeljack) are nothing less than iconic but for many fans
Gregg Berger is just as legendary. Gregg has a very extensive resume but he's best known to Transformers fans as the voice of Skyfire, Outback, Long Haul and of course
GRIMLOCK from the G1 Sunbow cartoon.
Gregg has been a very busy man in 2009, headlining at not one but THREE major conventions this year. The first was at Botcon 2009 in Pasadena, CA this May. I had the honor of being granted an interview with Mr. Berger at that time and he was a true class act. The topics included the most unusual items he has ever autographed, a breakdown of some of his current projects and of course some reminiscing about the old Sunbow cartoon among other things. You may read that interview
here.
Roughly 2 weeks ago, Gregg was also one of the featured guests at the world famous San Diego Comic Con. While at SDCC, Gregg again took some extra time out for an interview, this time with newsarama.com. Gregg kindly voices his opinions on the Shout Factory! G1 boxset and the live action Transformers movies, and of course a lot more. You may view the entire interview
here.
Headlining at those 2 conventions would be impressive enough but Mr. Berger's appearance schedule still has one major stop ahead. This time, he will be heading to the United Kingdom for Europe's largest Transformers Convention,
Auto Assembly 2009. The staff here at Seibertron.com would like to applaud Gregg for everything he has done and continues to do for the many Transformers fans all over the world. Those of us who have been lucky enough to meet him feel very honored for that opportunity. The fans attending AA2009 are in for a treat, to say the least!
For more information on Gregg Berger, you may visit his
official website and his
myspace page. For serious booking inquiries, you may contact his representative Emily Danyel of Tri-Booking Management at
emily@tribooking.com and at 1 (310) 497-7994.
