After all the questions surrounding whether Selects Turtler would come with his entire team to form the legendary King Poseidon, we have confirmation that indeed, we will be getting the King. The new images show us the prototypes for Turtler in all 3 modes as well as his first limb, Gulf! Gulf appears to be an extensive retool of one of the Terrorcon deluxe Blot, which is also what we were expecting.
We are only getting a look at Turtler and one limb, so we have yet to be told whether or not all 5 limbs are coming or if we will just get 4, and if we get 5 limbs if they will be targetmaster capable.
You can check out Turtler, Gulf, and King Poseidon with one leg below, and let us know what you think in the comments section below!

- Gulf/Skalor is a direct retool of PotP Blot, meaning only a few parts are changed; the Monster Mode head, Robot Mode head and the lower arms. I can't quite tell how they did the tail tho.
- It looks like King Poseidon/Piranacon will follow the PotP formula for the hands and feet, as evident in the lower right corner:

Upon closer inspection, the hands have individual fingers!

The name plates say "TakaraTomy Mall" in Katakana and "Generation Select" in Latin script. But, since Star Convoy will be on Hasbro Pulse as a direct import instead of a proper Hasbro release, King Poseidon may as well.Bounti76 wrote:Forgive me if I just haven't seen it somewhere, but is it confirmed, announced, etc. that this set will be Generations Selects only for Japan?

I don't know about confirmed, but this set will likely be available through Hasbro Pulse, like with Star Convoy

I'd pay 150-200$ for this set, considering it has new accessories and combiner parts (don't think I missed those new feet!)

Excellent, thanks! I don't know why Hasbro wouldn't just release it directly in Selects, but as long as I can get it either way, I'm good.

Also it looks like from the separate tags that they are in fact selling them one component at a time, and I think Gulf's tail just kinda plugs into his back in bot mode? You can see it hanging down between his legs.

Also of note, would the 6,500 be the price for Turtler? It sort of fits how Takara priced their voyagers in the legends line. Cause if so, then we're looking at $60 for Turtler alone... I mean I'm still gonna get them all, but it's gonna hurt

Well that is the tag in front of Turtler, so I guess it is? Yikes...I still want them, but yikes.

Each Limb will be $35
The Torso will be $60
So at minimum (if he only has 4 limb bots) that will make this combiner $200 USD + tax.

Well... It's better than my initial calculation of prices... I thought the limbs would be $40. Still not ideal, but for Piranacon/King Poseidon I'm willing to pay that considering the only alternative is a 3rd party figure that costs almost double that per part.
Also, I was wondering: What other combiners would you guys hope Takara might make for the Selects line? Personally, I hope we get a Road Caesar and maybe a new Leokaiser with Leozack and Jallguar wot go with him.

Also, the same account has a picture of an MP-19+ that I was previously unaware of.

There's also a hole in the back which makes me wonder if they could double as stand bases.

Not sure what the wrist joint is like, it's just an empty space where it should be.
Where does Gulf/Skalor's sword come from? And why does he have a sword in the first place? I do see he has a hole under his alt mode jaw like the original so that confirms a gun mode.

Ultra Markus wrote:are we going to get all 6 members because in g1 all limbs can be a gun or a limb and theres always a fifth member as a gun or will they just leave one out
We will get all 6 members in some shape or form, I guarantee it. I do spot one caveat: the weapon modes seem to have been omitted. I don't see a 5mm post anywhere on Skalor/Gulf...
:EDIT:... unless Overbite is the one only with one.
Thank you for posting a different view of the silhouette, Finishline. I can clearly see the molds used for the right side:
Skalor/Gulf: Blot
Nautilator/Lobclaw: Shuttle Blast Off, or any jet with fold-away wings. My money's on Dreadwind.
Overbite: Rippersnapper (back to front compared to the G1 toy)
And as a bonus:
Seawing/Kraken: Cutthroat (judging by the shape of his legs)

Not sure if you saw my last post since we posted about the same time. Gulf has the proper hole in his bottom jaw and peg in his combined gun for a gun mode. It's entirely possible that they'll simply be held by their combiner peg, the hand looks big enough. Maybe they'll use the Prime Armor hole in the middle for stability.

Maybe the sword doubles as the stem of a stand? Or, maybe it combines with other weapons as the tine of a giant trident?!!! Just spit balling.Emerje wrote:Where does Gulf/Skalor's sword come from? And why does he have a sword in the first place? Emerje
Oh! And this is all pretty awesome news. I felt pretty confident when we saw Turtler, that the rest of the team would follow suit.
Exciting stuff, for sure!

What a lot of people may not realize, is that Blot himself is a retool of rippersnapper. or is it the other way around. with that in mind I think the tail is done with retooled rippersnapper legs. at least thats how it looks to me in the pics. regardless, this is a must have for me.

Blot and Rippersnapper are a pretool pair; designed and sculpted in the same time frame.

Like SS Devastator, he's gonna be spread out, so you can spread out the costs like a loan payment but without the taxes for time spent paying it off.
And he is so much beefier looking, he has inherited some heavier plastic and aesthetic to justify part of the price increase.

We can both agree on that.
In fact, I'd be willing to say that Inferno is the only PotP torso with good combined mode hip joints. the others were pretty weak. So let's hope Turtler's are much better

Yeah, inferno was noticeably well put together, and can hold a decent amount of poses with the ankle tilts; for all the money I'm gonna be pouring into king posiedon, they had better give him good plastic where it counts

Legends Class figures were already too heavy for some arms, Deluxe would be downright murder. In the silhouette, all 6 members are present, with Overbite (Rippersnapper retool) as the gun, so weapon modes are definitely possible. Maybe they're expecting us to have some stands ready? I know companies sell clear supports for oversized anime/manga weaponry.

I'm pretty sure Piranacon just wasn't high on Hasbro's list of 'combiners-to-remake' and there are only so many molds they can do at one time. I will say that POTP should have probably skipped Volcanicus and the Elita gals in favor of the Seacon, however. That said, given the slapdash nature of the Hasbro Computron I think the post-Scramble City combiners ain't selling so well or at least are deemed as such. Its also worth noting Seacon never appeared in the toon.
However in Japan they did. Which is probably why this is a Takara initiative.

Is there a reason this can't come to pulse? Or do you mean that Hasbro would probably announce him at sdcc? Cuz it looks like they've only gotten 2 to the prototype level so far

This times one hundred. After Superion and Menasor the hip joints just couldn't support the weight of their own weapons, let alone Legends Class figures.

Hasbro might say something about the possibility of importing it, but don't count on any official announcements until the whole team has been revealed. Also note that if released state-side, they may keep their Japanese names like Star Convoy did.

I skipped on Star Convoy (admittedly to my regret...) but I'm really curious about Super Megatron, in part because I'm like the only guy who ever thought TR Galvatron isn't an absolute pile of shit.

More than likely they'd retool it. The chest cavity is big enough and the way Super Megatron's head is designed, it'd make sense to remove the headmaster gimmick and just use a normal head
