The Thirteeth Prime has arisen, Star Optimus is ready to utilize his ancient mystical zodiac orb to overpower your collection. His stark appearance clearly commands a new shelf in your collection and I can’t wait for you to build out the entire 13 primes to once and for all have the great gods of Transformers!
The almighty Shu san worked on this titan with me and boy oh gosh oh golly, he turned out divine! As always, working with Takara Tomy’s amazing team of designers is always a great honor and privilege that I do not take for granted.
I think I’m going to be making 2 posts on this behemoth. The anime style aesthetic that this guy embodies makes him so photogenic, of course mixed with some high class articulation and detailing to really make ya drool! Oh did I forget to mention the 3 killer modes, the long awaited appearance of Micromaster Hotrod (compared him to the core Hotrod), the plethora of weaponry, the first energon bullet accessory(I photoshopped in some extra’s),the matrix hilt with a multitude of metallic tinted blast effects that will keep ya entertained until moms calls ya in for an energon replenishment

The Age of the Primes welcomes the Aerialbot Commander Silverbolt, a heroic Autobot that’s a descendant of the great god Nexus Prime. Silverbolt’s ability to combine with his team of Aerialbots to form the powerful combiner Superion to defeat Legacy’s Menasor and all who stand before him! Let the combiner wars continue
Worked with Hasui san on this great character and he really brought him to life. Every combiner is such a heavy lift for all parties involved but the pay off of seeing it brought to life in such a smooth and articulated impactful way, well, it really speaks for itself.
I might be making 2 posts for this power packed toy because theres so much to show off. The extra thruster, that was designed from scratch, houses the combiner skeleton, which enables powerful strengthened and sturdy joints for dynamic posability and genius level smooth transformation sequences, to the immense joy we all get in every amazing crick of a ratchet joint, welp, again, speechless.
The big jet has the capability to lean the front nose to not only be more accurate to the actual jet but also pay homage to the transformation sequence in the g1 animated series. Its so satisfying to be able to open the cockpit and slide in any titan master for a classic wave of “bon voyage”. Almost as satisfying as having an accurate long range rifle that has multiple position fits with the capability of becoming a wicked cool blaster turret base for all the team to use. How glorious it finally feels when you put him up to an animated accurate Motormaster just so you can bodyslam that fool after he questions “So, who are you going to be a partial of next”?
I feel like Ive always had a great respect and admiration for Commander Silverbolt. Theres somthing about being an autobot leader to a team of bad ass aerialbot jets. Theres somthing about his head design that holds such a stern authoritarian gaze, maybe because of the low helmet brow and the handsome lips? If that wasnt enough, they made them combine into a wicked cool combiner named Superion As we all know, the jet alt mode always felt like an immediate decepticon thing, I meannn the seekers had some heavy air time in the g1 animated series so it just makes an autobot with a flight mode that much more appealing!
Alright, enough of my reminiscing, onward with the rebirth of the scramble city functionality! Since the skeleton system is much like Menasor in many ways I thought the swamping capabilities were crucial to keep and Hasui san being the genius he is, enabled that feature while adjusting other things to make this posable giant ready for a great showdown with his stunticon combiner nemesis.
The various places to utilize his long range rifle blaster really gives the look that I think all of us always wanted. Had to avoid the maize yellow thighs tho cause dont get me wrong, I love me some g1, but to not do the toy homage gold would of been a miss in my eyes. Suped about how the gold actually molded this time around and it blends together nicely with the painted gold. The unpainted extra piping on the thighs Hasui san suggested in order to avoid scratching in transformation ! Also the autobot sculpt that appears on the inside of his split tailwing to connect with the thruster booster really gives you a cool pyramid of autobot insignias.
Next up, I finally got my samples of the almighty thirteeth prime back from Cybertron Con, so next up, Star Optimus Prime. Make sure you let me know what you’d like to see!

Either way though, Star Convoy looks fantastic

Teasing a glimpse at G2 Wildrider? Hard to see much, but that looks like a yellow peg that would go to gun peaking out from behind the leg.
Also what's up with the gray jet on Superion's right arm? It's not a gray model, just looks to be a gray Slingshot standing in for Skydive.

Wanting to pass on silverbolt but then they have made him titan master compatable, dang. Not wanting the deluxes though as they look ugly as limbs/planes. If they go crazy and realease silverbolt in star saber minicon colors/c-thru plastic (any of the bazillion versions) then that will be the one I'll buy.
Posted by Overcracker on January 21st, 2025 @ 1:07pm CST
The only thing it doesn't do is motorized treads. Outside of that, it's pretty much an updated articulated version of the original.
Not sure how much more effort could have gone into it.
The Aerial Bots don't really interest me.
May get just Silverbolt if they ever repaint him in G2 colors.

That is my current philosophy with the new combiners: I will get the G2/Diaclone/SG/Nexus Prime repaints only. I'm doing it with Menasor, and will do it for Superion and Devastator

Anyway sadly to say I've opened Motormaster except all the other Stunticons but it's still a new year!

Well, that's easy. The original G1 toy is pretty much a Commander, but is still way too small for the current Generations scale. So, having him to be "Titan lite" was the best way to do it.

Really he should be somewhat taller than Powermaster Optimus Prime, but definitely not a full on, full priced Titan since he's a Micromaster base the same way PM Prime is a Powermaster base. They probably got him right, though HasLab Victory Saber is feeling pretty undersized now.
It was a weird choice to make "Micromaster" Hot Rod a Core since he's so cramped inside the chest now.

Can you share with the class? I can only find shots of him behind Silverbolt.

Actually he feels like I do about 3P, that they infringe on IP. He does touch upon Action Force and how he did it legally by getting the Trademarks.

More of the Primes are present but obscured, though we do see Vector Prime who is indeed the same mold as the Legacy release. These come from a shop in Singapore called The Falcon's Hangar.

It's likely the centaur legs aren't part of the bot alt mode, it'd be weird if only the top half transformed. There's got to be more to it than that. Beast mode for sure, maybe a bird, or maybe a griffon, that would explain his face having both teeth and a beak.

I'm also very happy the ones with proper render/figure reveals & product packaging art (Onyx & Micronus) looks overall. Prima & Megatronus are kind of average (Prima's color doesn't pop, Megatronus's short legs doesn't make him look epically menacing enough), but still look pretty fun. But Solus I'm pretty sure will be hands-down the best Deluxe fembot for awhile. Hope the rest of the Primes will be just as good as her.

This feels pretty likely, given that it would be a very easy repackage. I could see this being in a comic-edition multi-pack or something.

The new toys shown off include AOTP Alchemist Prime and Onyx Prime of the Thirteen - Alchemist transforms into an off-road vehicle while Onyx is shown as a triple-changer with robot, beast and centaur modes.
We also got good looks at a number of other toys from the AOTP line, including the Combaticon Vortex, Decepticon Crasher, red Excellion, Cybertron Sideways and the Carnivac / Fisitron two-pack.
The Studio Series line revealed the new Perceptor with Ramhorn and Ratbat, along with the Seeker (Dirge/conehead) and Soldier (Runamuck/Runabout) Decepticon generics from TF:Devastation.
The Hearts of Steel lineup got another showing with Megatron / Bumblebee alongside the already available Optimus / Starscream.
Finally, there was also the reveal of toys for the Cyberworld line, including Scorponok, Grimlock, Bumblebee, Galvatron and others.

Excellion is a must for me. As is ... *sigh* Ramhorn. It'd have been nice to get him in literally any other way than another box set with a couple of figures I already own.
Fistitron is pretty cool. It's a maybe.
Cyberworld Galvatron is a must buy for my Galvatron collection. Even if he kinda ... sucks ...
I'm excited to see the How Wheels transformers too. Those guys actually look really neat. Especially Twin Mill!

Alchemist Prime also looks beefy and cool, I like the alt mode too
Vortex looks really good and chonky I love it. Helicopter mode looks cool and robot mode is awesome, can't wait to see the others
Ironfist looks good, I like the alt mode. I wish the pictures got a better angle of him and Carnivac but im definitely picking them up
Sideways is cool, not attached enough to character to pick it up but looks like a pretty cool figure
I really like that ramhorn. Looks so cool. But idk if cool enough to justify double dipping on ratbat and perceptor
Posted by Sowndwave76 on March 1st, 2025 @ 9:10pm CST
Ratbat looks solid, and even Ramhorn looks alright.
Vortex looks incredible, and as much as I wanted to like UW Bruticus, it just wasn't a great combiner. Even with a couple upgrade kits it didn't quite deliver. Now there's for sure something to look forward to next year.
Onyx has my attention... Is he a 4th quarter release? If so, he'll be very tempting. But any sooner than that and there are other figures that will have my focus (and money).
Beyond that, looks like I'm passing on a lot.
Posted by -Kanrabat- on March 1st, 2025 @ 9:57pm CST
Alchemist Prime is the first one of the Primes that I really, really want. It's the mustache.
I don't need another Perceptor, but I need the casettes...
Also, it seems that Ground Soldier is a repaint/retool from Runabout/Runamock. That set is an easy skip.

the devastation 2-pack also great, can’t have enough seekers.
Excellion, somehow you will be mine.
And my boy, Noisemaze also a fabulous update.
Posted by Nemesis Primal on March 2nd, 2025 @ 2:56am CST
Sideways Noisemaze and Onyx look perfect, no notes. I've definitely come around to these Onyx colors as opposed to the blue I was expecting now that we're seeing the actual figure, and I'm real happy Noisemaze is seemingly another completely new mold out of nowhere, it was basically the only way to do him justice. Zero clue what Onyx's crazy winged six-legged hooved gargoyle-thing mode is supposed to actually be, so for now I will call him a Honse.
Already have Crasher, hope the repack helps those who don't.
Excellion's colors don't actually look as good to me as I expected on this mold? I can't place why, but I think I'll be skipping him.
Ironfist Fisitron looks really good, love his IDW colors and I'm very curious to see if his whole Lightformer cannon can detach from his back or if it's just the main barrel, although I am surprised to see they used the Earth mode tooling as his base and not the Siege one. Carnivac, on the other hand....sure is also included, wish he got as much IDW sauce in his design as his versus partner.
Still not 100% sold on Alchemist being green, but I like what I see otherwise, he can come hang out.
Posted by Emerje on March 2nd, 2025 @ 11:27am CST
Interesting that they did toon shaded windows on the two Devastation guys, but not on the Deluxe Optimus Prime.
Didn't feel like starting a new topic, but the first look at the SDCC Void Rivals set is up featuring Siege Jetfire.
