I think Apeface continues to look good, save for the white looking weird in that lighting and his ape neck being mistransformed by the looks of it. I'm still a bit hesitant to use Takara's stock photos as proof of final color schemes though, after the unpainted guns they showed with Magnus and Brunt.

DeathReviews wrote:Sigh... I wanted to like Apeface. I had the G1 version back in the day. But after 30 years, this was seriously the best they could do? Lawful heart, that off-white plastic looks like badly melted cheese.
We will have to wait for the in-hand pictures to she his real colors. Maybe that candle-wax white will not be so bad.
Also, after playing around with Siege Ratchet, I really want Crosswise and Ironhide. That mold is awesome in it's simplicity.

That is DEFINITELY a pearlescent white on Apeface. Only pearlescent plastic has that sheen. It should look just fine in person. I mean, it looks great on this guy:

As for the chunky jet mode... Since they were going for resemblance to the G1 design, there was no helping it on account of the twonk who designed the original giving him oblong beast limbs. A larger wingspan would probably help the looks, but price point strictures are a thing.,, All the same, Apeface is still a "Shut up and take my money" toy for me.
Speaking of "Shut up and take my money"...

Recently acquired Springer, and I find him a joy to look at and play with.

As far as I'm concerned regarding Springer: SIEGE Rules, Thrilling 30 drools!

Well, okay, the transforming rotor sword is nice. But occasionally lending that to SIEGE Springer is the ONLY thing keeping me from putting the T30 version (which I only bought as filler) up for trade.

You're not. But it's actually to be expected with Spasma!Stormshot_Prime wrote:Anyone else notice that bizarre double sided Headmaster? Or am I just seeing things?

Part of the Horrorcons' design schtick was that their Headmaster partners formed both the robot head and the beast head. However, the need to be interchangeable with other Titan Masters means that SIEGE Spasma can't fit the full gorilla muzzle on his back, so he only has the optic band and plugs in to complete the gorilla head (much like Revolver does for TR Six Shot's wolf head, only even more important). This also keeps the gorilla head from being undersized.

He’s the only redless force that can withstand Shockwave’s redless onslaught.

IDK, those alt modes for Thrilling 30 Springer are really great. And I even have a G1 Springer, so Siege gets nostalgia points.
My take on Apeface is why those blocky shoulders? All it needed was some angled intakes like the original. It’s sad for me, too, as Apeface’s spaceship design was one of my G1 favorites.
Posted by ZeldaTheSwordsman on September 10th, 2019 @ 6:30am CDT
Why those blocky gorilla shoulders on Apeface? To make room for the joints. And honestly, given where the original's intakes were and the way SIEGE Apeface's gorilla arms transform, your question should be "Why those blocky gorilla forearms?"
Posted by frogbat on September 10th, 2019 @ 6:37am CDT
Apeface looks ok - not exceptional, but a good attempt. the plastic will probably look better in hand.

No, my question is still “Why those blocky shoulders?” The joints could still be easily accommodated after adding a slope reminiscent of the G1 model. That would help the winged toaster aesthetic immensely, IMO.

Take a proper look at SIEGE Apeface:

And now look at the original:

Notice the color difference of that spot? On SIEGE Apeface, that spot is made from the gorilla forearms, not the back of the upper arms. So it's the gorilla forearms that would need the slope.
Adding a slope onto the shoulder itself that projects past that point wouldn't work, because it would block the arm's outward movement.

I love living in a world where we have Springers to compare.

Honestly I feel like they both are so strong that it’s comparing apples to apples. That’s a super tough call for me. Like with the new Impactors- honestly if I could afford it I would get both because I like the different head designs. You know what I mean? 30 Springer is totally IDW to me whereas Siege is like old school movie Springer.

I’m getting a 30 Blitzwing shoulder vibe from that ape mode shoulder arrangement but there’s always compromises with triple changers.
Overall, mmf, can not wait for this next wave.

I'd assume it's just lighting and such here. Unless you're referring to all the images of Apeface from conventions and such, then I have no clue

That's cuz these aren't renders, they're production run figures being photographed

With red eyes...like the devil’s eyes...
But really it’s kind of more orangey than red. Hmm. Ok well wave 1 Siege then

For me Siege Springer blew T30 out of the water. I always found T30 fiddly (in all modes) and feel that Sandstorm wears the mold better with much tighter tolerances leading to both alt-modes pegging in nice and tight. Also just I love Sandstorm's VTOL backpack so much

T30 Springer lent his sword to Seige and slipped quietly into storage.

Take another look. The whole beast mode "muzzle" is a separate piece that covers up the lower half of the "beast" side face of the Titan Master. With just the Titan Master, you only get the red visor of the gorilla face. The mouth and "nose" are attached to the main robot body and sit right in front of the Titan Master when in beast mode.

At first, I found that 100$CAN plus taxes set pricey, but it's just 10$ more expensive than 3 full priced figures for all the extra stuff.
Seriously, the box alone is shiny all over. Even inside! Plus, a full color instruction manual with extra tidbits of lore. Not only it have 4 extra camera parts, but there's also a

The spaceships are simple, but does the job. For a "bonus" mode, it's not too bad. It's unfortunate that the extra camera parts cannot be used at all in this mode.

The bots are absolutely fantastic and the extra parts are well used. Only the heads that have not be remolded keep the set from ultimate perfection.

I really don't regret paying extra to get the special set. Next to my G1 original, this set is just glorious! Beside, Maketoys Visualizer had already filled the "cartoon accurate" spot. The Siege Refraktor 3 pack is very worth getting.

I was just looking at the new Siege Apeface images and you know, just a bit...that image of him from the back, if you had different arms for that ape, like if they were dino legs, then made the rear ape legs little dino arms...the jet nose would work as a tail...
I hope Snapdragon is a whole new robot for sure but I can actually see how they could retool this version of Apeface into a Snapdragon. Swap in a few new parts maybe a new front end for the jet mode.
