Transformers Collectors' Club Exclusives & Subscription: Nacelle In-Hand

Posted by shajaki Jul 1, 2015 at 10:56pm CDT 16,089 views
A new Transformers Subscription Service figure has started showing up at peoples doorsteps recently: Nacelle! Twitter user ThatJohnD has uploaded some shots of his new house guest in & out of box, in both modes, and with his Bio/Tech Spec. Nacelle is apparently the fourth member of the "Welcoming Committee" and borrows the wings from the Botcon 2007 Thrust remold, but keeps the regular Seeker head instead of the Conehead. See the pics below, and stay tuned to Seibertron.com: home for the best Galleries and Conversation around!

Cool, one of the figures I was looking forward to most. Just have to wait for G2 Screamer and track down G2 Ramjet and my Seekerama is complete.

The existence of the Platinum Edition Conehead set makes this mold choice make even less sense than it initially did. Still, looking forward to it. Looks G2-ish. G2 Thrust. There, now I've justified its dumb existence ;)

Except that its three compatriots were likewise made from the Classics mold, so why do otherwise for their fourth member?

I know, I know. Just bitter because I want it out of the G1 mold, darn it

Jesse Wittenrich on the misassembly:
The larger portion of the end vertical wingtip should be above the rest of the wing. It's below it here.

And, unfortunately, this does seem to be a widespread occurrence. The good news? You can swap the entire rear wing/thruster assembly fairly easily by taking just two screws out of each of his legs. The bad news... The factory seems to have painted the stripe with the misassembly in mind, so swapping the wings will give you an upside down stripe.

Why must there always be a misassembly?

We're praying premium dollars for a premium product. Premium QC (or even standard QC) ought to come with it.

Nacelle
Function: Decepticon Courier
"How much time to change your fate? One second too few..."

Nacelle is an exceptional battlefield courier. Brought into service during the emergence the InfoWars, couriers that could deliver uncorrupted missives from command posts to the front lines became invaluable. In a line of work where memory, attention to detail, and speed are necessary, Nacelle is the top of her field.

Her incredibly high efficiency rating caught the attention of Shockwave, who began employing her services in increasingly difficult situations. Proud and dedicated to the cause, Nacelle pushed herself beyond both her mental and physical limits to live up to these expectations. Her constant need to be somewhere else has left her frantic and constantly obsessed with time. Daring and dangerous quick take-offs eventually shredded her wings to the point that Shockwave fitted her with replacement vtols in place of her standard issue Seeker wings.

Now fitted with a body that enables her anxious tendencies even further, Nacelle knows its only a matter of time before she works herself to death. The clock is always ticking and Nacelle can hear its pulse better than anyone.

Logic dictates that this is canon.

That's a pretty cool bio.

I am partial to the one he comes with though, having wrote it. :D

A few of us had for one reason or another, thought Nacelle was going to be a fembot. I just thought I'd toss out the first thoughts that came to mind for her in that gender. :)

Real talk - get with your club homies and tell them Counterpunch needs to write a bio or two sometime (assuming he's willing). Some of the stuff this dude comes up with that has been explained to me in casual conversation is a freaking gold mine of cool ideas.

Minor correction of the misassembly comment: Though the rear wings are indeed swapped, the paint apps on there are NOT upside-down. So if one does the simple fix of switching them, both the rear wings and their paint apps will be in their proper arrangements with no errors. :D

That's good to know... I'll have to fix Nacelle's lady bits up when I'm back home.

Be careful, though. Just found out that the legs might be glued so, in addition to unscrewing them, you might need to carefully pry them open with a knife, but only if the tailfins are that bothersome.

Also, another error was discovered, but a minor one. The wing connectors are upside-down, with the square end facing upward instead of downward, making the wings rotate less easily than they should since the square end acts to block them from rotating that way. This may result in the wings popping off, but harmlessly since they can be easily reattached. However, as this is a minor misassembly, it does not fully prevent the proper function of the wing connector pieces since the wings can still be rotated with a little more force (or by popping them off and reattaching them), and once they're swung up for robot mode, the square end of the piece really helps to hold the wings securely in place, stopping them from potentially flopping around in robot mode. A sort of blessing in disguise.

Is it wrong Counterpunch's Fem Nacelle bio A. hits me right in the feels, and B. Makes me think of Peridot from Steven Universe?
If either are in fact wrong of me, i'm cool with that, and I'll gladly headcannon someone else's headcannon, for my own headcannon

Only if you want her to be. The club's bio states that Nacelle's a he, but those are clearly lies and slander against Counterpunch's awesome bio for those of us who wanted Nacelle to be a she.

I have to say it: Nacelle's kind of a feminine-sounding name.
