Got so giddy and excited opening him up
I never had the original but always thought the character was so damn cool after getting Beast wars: the gathering at a book fair in elementary school
A killer robot that turns into three different dinosaurs at the same time is wicked awesome

It really is an excellent figure.

Thankfully Lockdown was still available, so I just pre-ordered Lockdown and Roadpig together. If anyone plans on getting the leader Thundertron and plans to sell off the Calcitron Armorizor, please PM me.

Anytime. Also, wasn't there supposed to be another G2 Stunticon in this sub-line, or was that somewhere else? I cant keep it all together anymore.
Not currently. There was speculation based on two blank spaces on the original leak, but one ended up being Cannonball and the other turned out to be just the assortment itself. Only G2 figure we know for next year right now is Grimlock in April in the 13 Primes line following Legacy.

There was an old listing for a "ROBO WLD RDR" that many took to being some kind of redeco of Wildrider, but that never came about, with the running theory being it was replaced by G2 Dead End instead.Emerje wrote:o.supreme wrote:Emerje wrote:Ordered both, thanks for the heads up!

Isn't Strongarm part of the Deluxe wave shipping now with Hot Shot and Nucleous?

There was also a lot of speculation on it being X-Brawn using the Japanese name Wild Ride. I know the extra R in the name doesn't really work, but the ROBO doesn't fit G2 either when it could easily just have been a shortened ROBOts in Disguise. But that was supposed to have been in Evolution and never happened so who knows if we'll actually see what it was.

I completely forgot about wave 5.

-Windsweeper came with 2 of the double-barreled Targetmaster rather than one double and one single (although I kinda like this, not gonna lie)
-Breakdown's arms weren't fully pushed into place in his shoulders all the way, causing his shoulders to split open (I've managed to get the arms into the proper alignment, but the shoulders are still low-key trying to come apart)
-I swear something is just slightly misaligned enough that one of Breakdown's legs is slightly longer than the other? When I peg them together they aren't completely parallel with each other, and the pegs in his truck bed are visibly not symmetrical
-Both Breakdown and Windsweeper are considerably looser in the majority of their joints compared to Bulkhead and Needlenose
-I can hear a little bit of something rattling around inside Windsweeper's cockpit?
Wouldn't dream of it.Emerje wrote:I completely forgot about wave 5.That wave is almost entirely repaints and PRs so you can't blame me.

I'm basically expecting Sureshot and Core Dinobot to be new molds, considering they were originally slated for Wave 2 and historically Wave 2 is always either all new molds or all new molds save like 1 figure (which in this Wave 2 was already Chromia). I guess at worst he'd be a Beachcomber retool? But like, it'd have to be Skullgrin-to-Quake level of retool, I think, if for no other reason than we basically know he's getting his Targetmaster based on the other 3 Legacy Targetmaster updates (I guess 4 counting Selects Cyclonus).Emerje wrote:Maybe Surshot will be new, but he'll probably be a Beachcomber retool (hopefully not!).

Had me open mine in a bit of a panic, but it's the correct partners. Not that it really matters, he wasn't a Targetmaster to begin with. I would have honestly been fine with just normal silver guns.

Posted by Overcracker on July 3rd, 2024 @ 4:19pm CDT
Only things left from Beachcomber are his arms, crotch and tires I think.
Also, are those the incorrectly applied G1 waist stickers as arm detailing?
Did Hasbro reference our very own Seibertron gallery for this?

That's hilarious if they did.
As for Bludgeon, not a fan of the powdery green and yellow, but that head, that is a work of art.
I think a darker richer yellow and green would have worked a bit better, but I know that is not accurate to the comic book appearance.
In any case, I may just break down and get this set, since I don't own any of the previous uses of the Tarn mold.

Ruckus is rather interesting. While he is a very faithful representation to the G1 toy, using the Beachcomber mold, some of his detailing is precisely based on our very own gallery of him on Seibertron.
You see, the example in our gallery has misplaced stickers. The stickers meant for the hips are placed on his forearms. And it was that picture that was cropped and used by TFwiki for the past 4 years, which is where Hasbro often uses as a source. And now, we have this innacurate sticker placement recreated on the new Ruckus toy. You can see those referential images and gallery below.

Yes, they referenced out gallery. But only because that's the image TFwiki has been using for 4 years

Nice to see they went all in on Bludgeon, new head, new chest and new pelvis. I'm glad they didn't just go with "Legacy Bludgeon, but in inner bot colors" and did something more elaborate. I guess the lackluster second set of Breakdown and Windsweeper paid for this and the Deluxe Insecticons sets to be made the way they were.

Gonna dump a lot of photos here, but I think Sandstorm may be the figure of the year for me? He has become a real favorite of mine, 2 months and I cannot put him down. He's just so good. So fun. By far my favorite figure so far this year.
Also he was popular with my niece, and I finally found cage storage in robot mode!

I also got my Magmatron. He is super neat, and well worth the cost. the one thing that bothers me, is that he is so thick in all 3 directions he is hard to handle in your hands.

Animated Bee is really fun

Chromia is neat

I also got Target Prime, somehow my 3rd use of this mediocre mold. I like this paint scheme though, and Spot is great.

I also got my first 2 mayhem sets, and all of them are pretty nice, though Chop Shop may be my favorite bug to date

First impressions aren't good.
As fiddly as the original is, this thin is nowhere near any better.
Tabbing in the roof, is an exercise in frustration.
He's tiny, and he's not fun.
Robot mode is fine, and at least stands better than my original. but that's not saying much since my originla sideburn is 23 years old now.
This was a total miss by Hasbro. Not sure I want the other 2 Car Brothers if they are going to be this underwhelming.

Thanks. Still not a good update.
Also, the roof, is not pegging in, and the right arm doesn’t like to stay tabbed in.
At least the robot mode, is not terrible, and can pose somewhat.

...But for 2.50$CAN more expensive than a full priced voyager, he's way, WAY better in hand than anticipated. He feels good in hand, solid and of a nice quality. Plus those flaws in vehicle modes reminds me of my own customs that I make. So this make Blitzwing endearing to me. And finally, that robot mode is perfect.
But what about those clown hands?
THEY ARE A PERFECT FIT FOR G1 METROPLEX!

That specific Metroplex is a scrap body that I repaired. His waist joint was broken and the entire ratchet set from a knee was missing. After repairing everything, I was wondering if the clown hands would work on him. Of course, the regular fists ports are too large, but the sleeves fit snugly and solidly! I added the "scrap" G1 Strafe I got for 2$CAN at Comiccon and this is giving me a nice custom idea.

Incidentally, there's a new DNA upgrade kit for Tiger Hawk and Silverbolt that fixes several of the issues of both.
