Thanks to a heads up from several sources, first among them Scottimus Prime, we have news that Power of the Primes Inferno, Outback, and Cindersaur have been officially revealed! These reveals come to us from Hasbro's Instagram, and they coincide with the currently running Australian Toy Fair, which is where the reveals officially come from. The mock ups show us a clear look at Inferno, who we've seen blurry images of before, as well as our first proper look at Outback (a retooled Titans Return Brawn), and Cindersaur (a retooled Slash). These figures only have their official images up for now, but they are expected to be shown tomorrow at the Australian Toy Fair, so stay tuned!

Check out the images below, and let us know what you think of these new reveals in the comments section below!

As a G1er and new BW-era fan, it's all good if ya ask me! With PotP, we got Pretenders, Beasts and G1 represented -- and more femme bots, too.

Cindersaur looks alright. Not quite as retooled as I would have liked, but I'll still be picking it up. And I'm definitely grabbing Outback.

All 3 look pretty decent. I also like Inferno's head, and the fact that they justified keeping Defensor's head because Inferno's is pretty much just a smaller version of it.

Outback is cool, and Cindersaur is alright, not exactly what I would have hoped for, but still good.

Noooo! I didn't want to want Inferno, I wanted to pass him up, but his mock up there looks so good. I already have 3 versions of that mold from CW and was thinking of passing him up, but, but...damnit I want him if he looks enough like his stock photo there.

I wonder if Inferno will continue the Hasbro fix to the mold that ruined the knees.

Getting Outback & I will probably get Inferno. Seems to make sense to have a red fire truck in the collection.

I thought it was a QC issue on my Victorion combiner, perhaps still is a just me thing, but the joint that is supposed to peg into the legs for the bot mode on my own are backwards. So I can't make that s shape, just straight up and down, making her stand out for height. Is that what you are talking about with mold issues?

Almost all late releases of the mold had the backwards knees. That issue affected Pyra Magnas, G2 Onslaughts, and the TFCC Bludgeon.

Thinking of some potential limb combos for Inferno. Alpha Bravo, Rook, Prowl, and I guess Trailbreaker would be a kinda interesting riff on the Protectobots look. For the PotP limbs, Novastar, Moonracer, Jazz, and Smokescreen might be a good look too; maybe bringing in Legends Wreck-Gar as the chest plate too since the orange in him would go with Novastar's orange accents. I do really wish we had gotten just one more deluxe Autobot so we could have one completely new set of Autobot limbs though.

At the risk of repeating myself (and I know I do that a lot): really wish I had gotten back into collecting during Combiner Wars and picked those later-waves retools/repaints of figures into '84-'85 Autobots. There even was a place which sold a Scattershot, Mirage, Sunstreaker and Ironhide but like the idiot I am, it got passed on.

Now it just seem like I'm an idiot because Jazz and Inferno would have really been nice to finish that hypothetical combiner 'proper'.

Ehh, something just seems off with Inferno. I really want to like him, and, if you told me he was supposed to be a different character, I would. It just doesn't say Inferno to me. No (even faux/painted) chest windshield, no spray gun hand... It absolutely would have helped if they had retooled the ladder to fold out and make his white head fins. But I can't deny that fire truck mode looks INCREDIBLE in red 8-)

The other two I could give or take. I don't have any connection at all to either character. but I love both their molds. They are both some of the best Legends molds that have come out in years, so I'd be open to picking up another version of them.

There is still some hope of a combiner limb Sideswipe, as he's, I believe, the only(?) 1964 Autobot that didn't get an update. I'd honestly love one out of the POTP Jazz figure. It wouldn't work for the character very well, but I really want that mold, just not as Jazz.

Nope! Hot Spot, (G1-style) Onslaught made it out fine. Thankfully, since those two ARE the most important of the five uses of the mold.

Inferno has me tempted haha. He's the same mold as Pyra Magna (which I already own) but dang I always wanna get the cool rescue vehicles. It's probably a good thing I don't have any addictions besides TFs and books. I also like those guns he comes with too. Other two figs aren't my cup of tea enough to purchase but the look pretty darn cool.

That'd be fine. Another red limb would look look good alongside Jazz, Moonracer, and Novastar no matter if you use Inferno or Elita as the torso. They'd probably just use the Breakdown mold again so he'd match Sunstreaker which would ensure that he would never ever be used as anything but a leg by me since that mold is pretty rotten, but I'm fine with that.

The only thing that slightly excites me is Outback, i really want a full set of Minibots. He needs his gun. They are already saving money by reusing the mold with only a slight retool, giving him a proper gun would have been so nice. Hasbro and also Takara need to start including guns with their Legends class figures. I don't get why we still have to rely on third parties to make our figures look less naked. Hopefully Dr. Wu or Renderform (still waiting for my Bruticus rifle) will make some Minibot guns.

Inferno looks a lot better than I thought he was going to. Definitely am echoing what others are saying though that his chest should've been retooled. Outback looks nice and has a nice new head.

I think cindersaur would've looked better if the dino arms were yellow to match his g1 self. Also I think the purple is a bit much. Needs to be sightly more red.

Admittedly, inferno looks pretty good but he’s an easy pass, I’m disappointed he and grapple didn’t get new moulds cos their generations versions are amongst the worst amongst generations figures.

Cindersaur looks ok but nothing I’d bother much with... outback on the other hand is a repaint I was looking forward to. Pity they’re not giving him a gun.. or a paul hogan recorded voice box. It’s figures like him that makes me want to invest in a 3D printer.

JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Could anyone post a time line between votes and figure release for:

- Gen. Windblade
Polls ended May 17, 2013, result revealed at SDCC in July. Figure released September 2014. Pretty short turnaround for a new mold, but still could have been pre-planed since from the first half of the poll only sculpting specific questions were alt mode and weapon (10 options each), while the second poll had gender.

- CW Victorion
Final poll ended either late February or early March 2015 (couldn't find the exact date). Revealed in June 19, 2015, officially released May 2016 (May Mayhem). Pretty average turnaround for retools.

- TR Trypticon
Vote results on December 1, 2015 (yeah, two polls that year). Full reveal didn't happen until February 17, 2017 (Toy Fair) and released July 2017.

- PotP Optimal Optimus[/quote]
Winner announced February 18, 2017 (Toy Fair), figure revealed at HasCon September 2017. Seemingly finished figure at Toy Fair 2018 with release not far away. Very fast turnaround.

None of these went the whole 2 years despite what we've heard from the development teams so they probably did have quite a bit planned out before release. Victorion was showing up in some places before May, but Hasbro was likely holding the figure back well after it was ready because of May Mayhem.

J/k :-D I think Inferno, Grapple, and Hot Spot are awesome versions of those characters. I can see if you want them to look more G1 than they do, but they're really fun figures.

One more thought on Trypticon getting picked back in TR: The sheer appeal of dinosaurs.

I would certainly like to see Sideswipe as a limb. We should have gotten him instead of Sunstreaker in the first place! Just like we should have gotten Jazz instead of Prowl, and a Deluxe Windcharger instead of Smokescreen (or maybe instead of Wheeljack). At least PotP finally gave us Jazz!

I'm interested in Inferno, though I'm not sure yet whether it would be to give him a faux-windshield on his chest and use him as Inferno, to turn him into a truck body for Elita (because her show altmode is some kind of car or truck) or to turn him into G2 Hot Spot.

Still holding out hope for a PotP Scorn. If they don't make one I'm gonna do my own.

So, does anyone recall the photo I posted showing that G1 Grimlock's weapons are 5mm-compatible? Some of the other G1 Dinobot weapons are 5mm-compatible too:
* Snarl's launcher
* Sludge's sword
* Swoop's launchers

Slag's weapons, Sludge's gun and launcher, and Snarl's gun would require adaptors (5mm pegs with a 3mm hole in the top for most, and a bracket of some kind for Slag's launcher).

Lol, yeah they’re good figures, but for my personal tastes I find them weaker compared to other figures like tracks/wheeljack. And, you are correct, I’d have liked a More direct g1 homage, besides that though, I have an issue with their parts popping off too easily.

Fire Chief with Inferno's head, that is, Skritz!

He honestly has some appeal to me as a toy of Inferno, thanks to being an actual long ladder truck unlike the Universe toy, even if he'd need to be given a faux-Fuso windshield to really pull off the Inferno look. (Speaking of Mitsubishi Fuso trucks, CW Optimus/Motormaster's altmode looks to be based on the 2010 version of the Fuso).

Toy Wiz now has a puzzling listing for a Volcanicus set. It is said to include Power of the Primes Grimlock, Swoop, Slug, Slash, Snarl and Sludge, which si very similar to the content we would have gotten in a Combiner Wars type of box set. Could this be the first hint we have to Power of the Primes boxsets? And how would you feel if it was the same toys in slightly better decos? What would make you get a set like this?

Of course, we do not know exactly what this set entails aside from the toys found in it. With this shipping at the same time that wave 2 deluxes are received by online retailers, this could simply be a listing for all the individual bots but done as one order. Also, it is worth noting that while the silhouette has a sword that we do not have yet, it is not a silhouette of the combined toy. Instead it is the Volcanicus character model from the Earth Wars video game.

The preorder is listed at $169.99

You can tell it's a silhouette of the Earth Wars model thanks to Swoop's launchers.

I would hope that the boxset does come with a sword, but not the upsized FOC Grimlock sword seen in Earth Wars. I would want a sword whose design was more in line with the G1 Dinobot swords, and which was possibly a combining weapon like Victorion's sword.

I would also like to see a G2 Volcanicus boxset, because I am a sucker for G2 color schemes (just look at my avatar, I think that says it all).

Personally, I would be quite peeved to be getting a G2 Volcanicus before a G2 Defensor.... There is a gaping hole in my G2 combiners where Defensor MUST be.

Why so much? Four $15-20 figures and a $30 torso figure shouldnt be more than $110 wtf???? Better be G2 deco
