Fellow Seibertronian IJK Productions has sent us a review for TAV Transformers Adventure TAV-47 Crazybolt, which you can watch below. Interestingly enough, this version is released at retail before Hasbro's.

Hey all, I've just uploaded my video review of the Japanese version of RiD Deployer Crazybolt. Aside from me not getting the deployer gimmick to work I'm overly impressed with how great the deco looks on the Japanese one over the domestic one.

Didn't see this earlier, sorry for taking five days to reply! I think the little version is just as fun, since it essentially transforms the same exact way and you can move the elbows without fear. Plus it has a rockin' awesome clear T-Rex helmet that the T-Rex itself can wear.

Hmm, yeah, I think I like the smaller one over the Warrior class version. The Voyager is still the best so far though.

Thanks ;)^ And hell yeah about that Voyager version! What I find fun about the smaller version too is that I can use it with my Legion RID figures to evoke Grimlock's size compared to his team.

YES! Would you mind adding your little cobo watermark and sending me that in a PM, I was just writing something that needed that. Also remember that photo of all those Scout and Legends class TFs you took. It had your united windchargers among the 4 scouts. I seem to have lost it. Pretty please with a cherry on top ;;)

I got some goodies sitting in my private warehouse at HLJ. TAV Megatronus and Fracture were pivcked up during the summer sale. I wanted to get Quillfire but when I put my order in he was gone. I also preordered the Strongarm that comes with the minicon. I was all for the Hasbro one but Takara's deco is better. I'm hoping to ship those when Strongarm is in stock but ya know how things are. 8-}

He's the new Cybertron Metroplex.

He's an amazing homage and an incredible robot mode, but the designers about 4/5 through development remembered "Oh shit, this guy's supposed to be a Transformer", and hastily folded him up into nothing and pretended it's a vehicle mode.

Gotta agree. His bot mode is bloody fantastic (though not a fan of face plate-less head) but that vehicle mode is a stretch...and I don't mean because of the length.

Yeah, that altmode is a letdown, but at the very least, I kinda feel like the more uniform Takara deco makes the altmode look slightly less offensive than it looks with the Hasbro deco's use of a rather unappealing shade of white/gray.

The former. This figure comes with its own Prime Decepticon Hunter that's of a different mold than the one included with OP Supreme Mode. And the last pic has simply it holding the Supreme Mode one.

It's rotated differently from the other pics in relation to the blade. Also I thought the hilt was gray and chrome while this one looks black

But... Thunderclash didn't have wings. Or shoulder guns. Or a big sword. Or huge swirling shoulders. Or faceplate armor. Or a red long nose cab. Or a gigantic physique. Or frankly any of Optimus's colors in any of the places they appear on Optimus.

The most similar things are the wing-like chest designs, but which are teal on Thunderclash and blue on Optimus.

It's the whole theming of it. No-one in else in Transformers - at least, as far as I know - is identified as a cab-trailer that transforms into a heroic-looking figure with a white chest and the theming of blue wings. It's of course nowhere near a remake, I'm not saying that; but you sort of feel a bit of Thunderclash from him.

Also the blue crest on his chest, the blue forearms, the two cannons which wherever they are are still a big definition of Thunderclash's profile in one mode, and the fact that he can armour up. It feels a bit like Thunderclash.

It was a pretty bad way of saying it, yeah. The idea I meant to convey is that a large section of the vehicle mode can separate and then be operated by the base robot - in Optimus' case it makes him a super sayain god, in Thunderclash's case it be comes this big sort of base.
In both cases they provide protection, extra firepower and specifically those two big cannons.

I was under the impression that this was all one self contained figure. The wings and cannons fold back and the face plate slides into the chest

So, I've gotten my first 2 TAV figures, Quill fire and Fracture. Quill fire is meh, not bad, but nothing to write home about.

Fracture is amazing. He really feels like the character on the show. Highly recommended.

Get TAV Thunderhoof man. Seriously. Deluxe of the year.

On topic...

I'm glad I moved over towards getting this Prime. I'm really curious to see how he is in the show.

This is also one of the few TAV figures where I feel some Reprolabels would help fill out the detailing some.

I got this toy the other day. Here are some observations:

- No Autobot symbols in lorry mode (I used Repros for mine).

- No upper arm swivel, which is strange as his upper thighs do. This means that his posability is limited.

- The regular head swivels a bit, but the super mode visor DOES NOT. This means that he cannot look around in super mode.

- The arms, although engineered to have tabs, don't tab together in Alt mode very well.

- the clear sword blade and hilt are detachable, and feature a special peg which fits into only this prime's hands. Not sure why.

- No painted wheels, which is odd for Takara.

- The molded Autobot symbol on the eagle is both unpainted and obscured by the eagle head in super mode, meaning that Optimus has no clear faction symbol on display while in this mode.

- The cab comes unattached in the box, and simply hangs off the attached area. It's tempting to want to pull it down further, causing it to come off.

- the same for the wings, as they appear to fold, but don't.

In conclusion, the toy is perhaps more durable and easier to transform that the previous iteration of super mode Prime, but it's got less details and paint apps.

So... hang on.
They designed a toy which, by admission, had all the effort put into Robot mode because the vehicle mode can barely be described as a vehicle and has a detachable cab piece
And yet the robot mode itself is a bit crap?

The reason for your confusion is the amount of love Takara put into a deco of what is essentially a big kiddie toy along the likes of that giant bumblebee or Mega 3-step prime (or 5 step megatonus). The robot mode isnt great for poseability and the vehicle mode is there for the sake of it, its for kids. But Takara had to go and make him awesome looking so of course us collectors are curious. But its still a big toy for kids. I guess the best alegory would be that he is this line's Giant Dragon Optimus:
