Greetings Seibertronians! Thanks to the folks over at Bleeding Cool, we've learned that Modern Icons have teamed up with Hasbro again (following their Cobra Commander and Snake Eyes replica helmets from G.I. Joe) to give the fabs another helmet from a beloved franchise. Which one? Which do you think

That's right fellow fans, you can now open a replica helmet based on Optimus Prime (G1 styling)!

Complete with light up eyes and a variety of sound effects, this helmet will allow fans to step into the shoes of one of the best known characters that the 80s ever gave us.

The helmet is exclusive to Gamestop, and this is what they have to say:

I'm curious as to the actual safety profile of this. I can't see it being used for bike riding or skating due to issues with vision obstruction; may be "useful" for paintball but it's not very camouflaged. If you just want to be epically geeky, this is a certain winner.

I can't imagine anyone would use it as a bike helmet. It's a collectible. For home, Halloween, and cosplay, so the safety standard shouldn't be much more than make it breathable?

Probably, but let's face it: an Optimus Prime of Megatron motorcycle helmet would be flippin awesome...

Edit: Gamestop itself prvents shipping via cargo forwarder by checking if the payment account country matches

Gamestop has a new exclusive up on their website. It is a wearable Transformers G1 Megatron head. An Optimus Prime head was also previously revealed. It is $109, and needs 3 AA batteries for the eyes to light up. There is some pretty awesome inner sclupting, you can see that in the images below. This product will be coming out in August.

Heh. This is appealing. Does it do voice changing as well? For the price tag it ought to. Though if they were going to do a Decepticon voice-changer helmet, I thought for sure they'd go with Shockwave or Soundwave...

For that price, it should have come with Frank Welker voice samples. I don't really think the "inner sculpting" is really a relevant sales feature. It's about as relevant as "beautiful stitched imagery" on the insides of a pair of underpants...

Maybe they'd toss in a Beast Wars style "Yeeeeeeesssssssss" for the helmet. But given the list of features, it doesn't seem to include any voice changing function. That's a minus, to be sure. Every Optimus helmet in recent history has had a voice changing option......

If I had the extra cash, I would get one just for laughs. And depending on how it obstructs my vision, I'd wear it while driving down the road if I could. But I'd paint the helmet black to make it comic accurate.
