It was me, the guy who recomended Megs, and the guy who did all the packaging artwork for Armada, Energon, Cybertron, Animated, CW, TR and Power of the Primes (which he was working on now AND COULDNT TELL ME WHAT IT WAS AAAAAAARRRGH). Alonf with the team who makes the Forged to Fight game. I went to Vancouver
to report on it. I really did not know that the guy who did all the art for hasbro also worked on this game full time. his name is Marcello Matere and he even drew me Rhinox:
And yeah, he has been working freelance for hasbro since Armada. It was really fun talking to him an I will ask to see that prime he drew. He also said he still had some of that artwork for sale and I will ask for some prices (its not cheap usually though).
Me and other fan sites were there, like TFW and it was its founder who was sitting with us eating goose liver. It was actually goose liver on top of a steak on top of potatoes. It tasted great but we didnt realize we had to eat it WITH the steak. I rarely eat it, though I did eat liver as a pâté as a kid. In this occasion, ew were all paid a fancy dinner so I said why not (oh and there was caviar too).
I dont know if foie gras is illegal in the US due to anima cruelty. Tasted fine though. And yes, it was the head of TFW who told me of Megatron. he said it was easily the best figure he ever handled. the part that sold me was how matter of fact he said things. Like Ryan, he also takes pics and there is nothing he hates more than having to constantly retransform a toy he doesnt like to take pics of it in various forms. But with megatron, it wasnt a chore. He just followed the instructions and the conversion was pleasant. Thats all I really needed to hear. It speaks volumes to me. He pretty much said it was like one of those non transforming fully articulated figures and it just happened to also turn into a gun.
So yeah, come those Japan preorders, he is mine. especially since marcello doesnt know about the Japanese imporing and just bought him for $300 CDN at a local import shop. I will be telling him of the much cheaper importing option.

TLDR: For journalistic purposes, I went to Vancouver to visit a game studio who wined and dined me to foie gras and caviar while I sat next to Hasbro's packaging artist who had drawn something just for me.
I dont know if it was better than the time I had dinner with Freddy Krueger and Bishop from Aliens, or when I just sat on a couch with Stan Lee as he was telling me of his dinner with Ronald Reagan, or the day my daughter was born.
OUCH! That's almost twice the cost of the toy.
I know you dont like politics talk but lets just say I find it odd how so much time and effort in regulation is put on certain things and not others in your country. Like how one guy spent his life trying to get rid of the "u" in certain words like colour, flavour and armour. Oh well, no wonder the americans I was with had no clue what it was
