OK guys this has been driving me nuts for awhile and I need your help. I'm having a hard time remembering the name of a Joe from the late 80's early 90's. All I remember is that he wore tan and black. His head gear was a cap with some sort of flap in the back. His gimmick was that he was some sort of sharpshooter who treated everything like a video game. The only episode that I remember him being in he was on the roof of Joe HQ taking out Cobra planes before he was lifted by a Joe jet with a hook and flown through the air for what he called the bonus round. If it helps I think he was using some sort of laser chain gun.

The only one I cna think of that had a cap with a flap in the back is Dusty. But I don't recall him ever being a sniper.

Dusty had more of a hood. What I'm talking about looked like something the French army used to wear. If it helps I haven't seen the guy since the original ARAH line so I guess he has never been re done.

YESSSSSSS!!!! Thank you that's him. Dude I owe ya one. Heck let me father your children for you, that would make us just about even.

For whatever reason he always stuck out in my mind all these years. Not a popular character I guess. Funny the Brazilian release has a bit more going for it in terms of accessories. I would love to see a larger scale version of the figure just to see what would be done.

Quick question about the "operation rescue doc" promotion in the wave 1 comic packs. Obviously, one has to provide six proofs of purchase and shipping to recieve the figure. What they don't tell you is that you are able to recieve up to 3 more figs so long as you provide the shipping cost per figure and 50 Flag or Adventure points. My question is, where do I get said flag or adventure points? Are they left overs from past Joe figs? Do i have to join the club? Any info would help, thanks guys.

I believe flag points are from the past Joe figs. The only way to get DOC now is to buy the comic packs. Look for wave 2 at Walmarts cause thats where I got mine. Although you might have to buy double of some packs depending on how many DOCs you want.

Anybody heard about a SE vs. SS comic two pack variant. I saw one at Walmart this morning and it had America's Elite #25 in it, and not the reprint of #21 the Silent Issue. I didn't buy it, but the package did not look messed with...but that was my initial thought, that someone had bought it, and pulled the comic out, sealed and returned it to the store. Seems odd for them to do that though. :???:

BBTS lists new 2-packs...

Copperhead Vs. Shipwreck (they should have made it Cutter, or given Shipwreck a 'touk' (knit cap) instead of his sailor's hat. He does have the rope thingy though.

Firefly Vs. Storm Shadow- I was expecting the versions from the GI Joe Ninja Force comics arena-- but these are okay. Lots of accessories.

Red Star Vs. Duke- Meh.

I almost missed this wave because I thought I pre-ordered it already. I never had Copperhead since I didn't get the cobra boat until the Tiger Force repaint. I like the idea of the character being a gambler. If your a fan you must be really happy since he was the Joe club exclusive this year too.

Can anyone tell me why the figs in the
comic packs deviate from the originals colors
so vividly? ie: Destro and Snake Eyes in blue or bright yellow on the cobra commander.
These colors just look bad to me. It's just personal opinion.
The black is more ominous and imposing looking and the toned down colors don't give me impulses of dominance.

I saw the Dreadnoks 2 pack though and they look awesome together. I might go back and get that. The walmart near me is going to be carrying these, they just made room for them in the
toy isle. Horray!

The original figures are cartoon accurate, these are comic accurate. Example, Destro is blue in the comics so they repainted the toy blue for the two pack. I have Destro, liked it a lot but my only problem was that it doesn’t come with the originals parts (Briefcase and rifle thing).

Thanks Nekoman. It would make sense then if they are those colors in the comics.
Cobra Commander looks too flashy though. What look were they going for in the comic?

Re: GI Joe Fans Unite-- 25th Anniversary Fig Talk and More!

Postby Rogue. » Thu Jan 17, 2008 8:54 pm

I picked up Crimson Guard, Flash, and Snow Job with "fogged" goggles the other day at a Target... for $4.75 each :) Apparently they weren't in the system when the cashier rang them up. She asked me if I remembered the price, so I just said, "I don't know, 4-something or 5-something." She looked at one and said, "$4.75 sounds good." Hehe :)

Also, I was pissed to see Stalker with the corrected crotch. I just opened the one I had bought a while ago, and was thinking about how a Dremel will fix Hasbro's stupid crotch design. If anything, this has taught me that Hasbro will occasionally fix their cock-ups (ah, no pun intended), and that sometimes I ought to leave things on the card for a while before opening them. I've still got the three I bought today, as well as Flint, MOC. I'm waiting for Flash to be released with the orange paint going up all the way on the lower torso piece, since it looks silly as it is.

I wouldn't say the comic pack figures are based on their appearances in the comics. I would say Hasbro decided on piss-poor colors to represent comic-like portrayals of the characters. I don't think Cobra Commander was ever that baby of a blue in the comics. At least not the old Joe comics I read. Keep in mind the old days of comics didn't normally have computer colored pages, or hand-painted panels like some titles have today.

The regular figures aren't based on the cartoon colors. If they were, Hawk would have brown hair, and the figures would have colors almost as atrocious as some of the comic pack figures... :?

HISS Driver, Viper, and Wild Bill look great. I wonder if there will be any removable helmets on these guys?

Spirit looks a little disappointing, unfortunately.

Why does something about them releasing the HISS driver without the HISS tank piss me off? Why does releasing the HISS tank without the HISS driver who gets replaced by the dumb trooper repaint piss me off even more?

Meh, regardless, at least we get a proper HISS driver, the Viper also looks promising.
