GI Joe Fans Unite-- 25th Anniversary Fig Talk and More!

Do you collect other toys besides Transformers? Maybe you've got a Masters of the Universe collection you'd like to show off, or maybe you like Thundercats, Voltron, G.I.Joe, Power Rangers, Star Wars, Wrestling, or any of the various comic book toy lines. Please keep the discussions here to non-Transformers toy lines.

I think the blame for variants in the line has to rest partially on the TF collectors who bought all of the variant Cyberton Deluxe Optimus Primes. Once Hasbro saw that they could get people to buy multiples of the same figure with only slight differences the sky's the limit. I do think the joke will be on those who are buying up all the variants when they realize they won't be able to sell them at a premium. BBTS has only recognized the black timber variant so I think that's the only one that will go for a premium. I've only gotten the standard releases from BBTS since I buy the complete wave sets. Anybody get variants in those?

By the by. I read here that you'll be able to use Flag points to get extra doc's with your Comic pack coupons. How old can the points be because I found an old coffee can with Joe and TF points in it with the newest being at least 15 years old.

I don't think the Cybertron Prime variants started that trend.
Spawn toys are notorious for having variants, especially the
earliest series. People went/go nuts over those.

I don't think BBTS is a very reliable indicator of a figure's value. Do a completed auctions search for these two items:

snake-eyes timber variant

stalker variant

And you can see that one is going for twice than the other one.

About the Doc mail-away, it's Battle Points, not Flag points, that are good for the extra Doc figure(s) offer. You have to have the right mail-in ticket though, which has been released online but not in the figure packs (yet, if at all).

:BOT: Looks like Sideshow Collectibles will make some 12" figures as announced in their teaser.

While I find it odd that Hasbro is outsourcing since they're practically experts at the 12" line. This does mean we'll see some figures with TONS of details and accessories! :CON:

There was also a review of the third draft of the Joe movie script. The site was asked to take it down but someone over at Joe Battle Lines saved the page. I'm taking steps to try and get a copy so I'll let you guys know when I get it so we can take steps from there if any of you want to see it. I had fun with the whole Sunstreaker thing but I'm not in the mood to deal with Joe people as well.

This may be a little off topic but I have the Second version B.A.T. (this one) and I really like the figure but his hands on at the wrong angle and I have pulled all I can on this thing and it wont come off, was there any special way you get his arm off?

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet but there is a variant in the Snake Eyes/Storm Shadow two pack. Some SE's have the old style waist piece while some have the fixed part. I have the newer one with the right crotch and I'm not sure which one is rarer.

It's more of a running change. Hasbro is finally getting the corrected waist pieces into their figures. I saw the Scarlet & Hawk pack a few times with the corrected waist piece on Hawk. It figures that I bought one right away, and now I want / need to buy another. :?

I picked up a Serpentor and cobra trooper today.
I also found these at the Salvation Army in a bag of toys:

After searching ebay I found this to be Scarlett. What's up with
her crotch area? How many Joes have this abomination of a waist?
And she can't wear a backpack.

Just for your 411 guys GI Joe is not eligible for the new Hasbro play rewards promotion. I've tried to come up with some ideas as to why and the only one I could come up with is because the figures out there now are to cheap, although that doesn't make sense at all.

That is Ninja force Scarlet, most of the Ninja force figures contained spring loaded slicing, kicking or punching gimmicks, even worse some figures like Snake eyes had both the slicing and kicking gimmicks. As far as I can remember, only Ninja force, Street fighter GIJoe and some repaints of those figures had the bad gimmicks.

I’m fine with rocket launchers and stuff like that, but my problem with the Ninja force figures was that they could barely pose better than a Lego man and most of them couldn’t sit in tanks well either.

I have noticed the waist issue was fixed on my Flash figure and I think my Snowjob fig has it fixed too. I'll have to take a closer look at my Crimsoon Guard figs. But I think the problem is still existant with some wave 4 figs. I've noticed my IG Destro still has the problem.

I just hope Hasbro is making some adjustments to the vehicles cockpits to compensate for the waist problem. The figs do look like they could sit in some of the vehicles if they look like their leaning back. Otherwise they're better off manning the guns. About the only one who could properly fit in the old vehicles, from the JOE 5 pack, is Roadblock since he doens't have the waist issue (only a hand issue).

Found the Fred CG and Scarface Cobra Officer two pack, as well as, Ace and Wild Weasel.

Ace looks more like an astronaut than ever--and he comes with no guns :-( , but Wild Weasel is really cool, and does come with a pistol.

Scarface CO is not bald!!! And the CG Fred is really well sculpted, and comes with a different rifle than the normal CG--the file card is different too with the head picture instead of the helmeted picture, but otherwise, I think they are the same...but I have not directly compared them yet. :-?

Yeehoo!!!

Today I snagged Tomax & Xamot, Wild Weasel & Ace and Seigie and Sacrface...

Woo Hoo.

I even had an idea of switching the seigies head with the battle suit CC to get the full Fred effect.

I got the Crimson guard and Scar face pack yesterday and it was absolutely stunning, one of the best releases from this line IMO, but I had one problem. I was looking at the Crimson guard and his foot is on lopsided, is this common or did I just get a bad one?

On mine it was very noticeable out of the packaging, he can still stand if balanced correctly but it just looks odd.

Also, Scarface’s hand slides out rather easily in comparison to the rest of my troopers and his other hand.

Is the plastic itself all bent out of shape? If it's the soft plastic (which I hate so much, but it's used for everything unfortunately), you can re-shape it by using a hairdryer and a cup of ice water. Heat up the gimp part by holding the hairdryer over it, but not too closely as you don't want the plastic to melt. After about a minute, the plastic should be rubbery. Reshape the part as it should be, and when you think you have it right, dunk it in the ice water.

This works great for other toys, like antennae, Gundam beam sabers, etc. Some plastics are more resistant to being reshaped, though.

Thanks for the tip! I could use that for Breaker or some of my Gundams.

Only thing is I don’t think its warped, but inserted wrong or something. Its hard to explain so I drew up a quick example using MS paint to kind of show what’s wrong.
