I think the exp rate should be doubled myself. A lot of people quit the game because it takes to long to get a useful character.

Would it decrease the time it takes to max out a character sure but I think the fastest to that level still took around three years.

Actually, I'm against getting a whole team and a load of energon right away again. If this is a reset, I want to start all over everything with the base energon. (I was just one upgrade away from lv.10...)

I was stuck at lvl 1 for the better part of a year so that I would have some very good lvl 2's when the time came. I came back time and again because of the forum community, if that didn't exist, I, and a lot of other people, would have left.

And don't forget, everyone's in the same boat as you and me, this is a powder keg of xp waiting to go off in my opinion, so doubling xp shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks for the positive outlook on this everyone!

I'll try to address a few things before I have to be in meetings all day at work...

1. You will start with enough energon to make 12 characters.

2. One thing I can do for you is help with names (within reason). If you had a name and it is taken I can help you out. As long as we don't have a dozen requests for the same name we should be OK.

3. Tammuz will get his lego tank again :P

4. Code was backed up. Code is typically small and saved on our local machines so the game itself is intact. Most of the data, however was saved to the same drive that crashed.

This whole situation is really worst case scenario for any web admin so we are trying to learn from mistakes and get you guys back up and running.

How'd you work that out? An army of level 0 oponants will not pay out as well as hiting a lvl 3 or 4 a few times...

You, Sir, ROCK! I have played many online games and am convinced that their admins don't even exist! In times of chaos like this, they do NOTHING for the player base. I think I speak for most people here when I say that we appreciate all your efforts!

Also, I kinda like what somebody else said: Opening up ALL alts for the first couple weeks is a great idea!

I remember the early days when even after around six months or so the top guys were still in the 100K range.

Upping the pay outs will help alievate the feeling that you are just spinning your wheels and getting no where.

Plus since this game has had numerous bad crashes in its history it would allow people to get further in the game quicker which isn't a bad thing either.

By that I mean there is a difference in say having a bot that was just getting powerful (say around level 9 or 10) and having one that is maxed out.

If you have the first you want to play more to get it maxed out.

If you have the second you could become bored of it because there is nothing left to do and would welcome a reset, like Burn did earlier this year.

If you can advance quicker there may be less hard feelings when something like this happens.

Bah. I haven't had Optimus Prime on my team in over a year. I only had two canon characters left on my team, and only one of those I'd be rather upset if I lost. Fortunately, it's the one less likely to be stolen. And for that character, I'm particularly worried about not having the rat alt available anymore...

Well, I could be pissed. I was at level 11 with three of my guys and one was completely upgraded (the second-highest Autobot in the game and eighth highest TF), and my lowest was at level 6. And I was, I think, the eighth ranked player. I hadn't accomplished everything I'd hoped to, but I'll have to get over it. Yeah, I'm whining. :P Eat it.

Here goes another 5 years to climb to the top.

Considering that we lost data in December and a two or three times before that, at some point someone should have thought to keep an off-site backup. I don't know how doable that is, but it's something to think about now. How big exactly was the data?

On the plus side, I can see the missions filling up once some players hit level 1. And before that to some extent. It'll be different being at level 0 again.

yeah i gotta say its a bit of as drag playing for so long but getting virtually nowhere,
gaining xp quicker would be most welcome as would a full alt list

So why not just skip level 0 and/or 1 altogether? Like was done for Burn, or would it be the sort've thing you can't just do to hundreds of accounts at the same time?

At least I can be reasonably sure no one will steal the two canon names I've got on my team. Hopefully the rest won't be a problem.

I support the idea of opening the alt database for a couple of weeks, but may I also suggest loading in some of the new alts for the Maximals and Predacons, if only in stand-in classes until the new alt code is ready? (I know Mkall is somewhat against this idea, but now seems a good time as it helps soften the blow of loosing all the xp).
