The dark tone was a nice change, and yeah, translating his "vision" from the comics to the screen was going to be a challenge.
Wasn't there only one shot of his "world on fire" point of view? And it didn't look all that detailed to me, kind of like Predator vision, and how is that much different than what was portrayed in the 2003 film?
And then there's the Kingpin, oh yes the Kingpin. Most of my knowledge of his character only comes from his Spider-Man: The Animated Series representation, so whether his portrayal is truly accurate or not I don't know. However, I really, really enjoyed his character. His awkward and quiet demeanor was a novel counter to his bits of powerful rage. A very good "villain" I would not dare want to cross.
Oh, and Leland Owlsly is fantastic too. I think it's because he's more or less just an elderly guy but he
takes down Daredevil with his taser and drives away like it's nothing, has a very entitled attitude that is fun to watch, is not afraid of the Kingpin in the least. Even at the end of the series
he's like "well, we're parting ways, but you dare not lay a hand on me cause if you do you'll empire will fall like so many Jenga pieces". Granted Kingpin still kills him, but Owlsly goes down tasering and for a few seconds almost looks like he'll get away. Comicsalliance noted that his character in the comics has no son but the TV show makes several references to one. Perhaps in Season 2 we'll get a true Owl villain? Oh please be like father like son....
