I wish to share a bit of a personal story, I won't get anyone into tears as we all may have a bit of sadness about Transformers or toys in general, so here goes...

I remember been 11 years old, at the time I had saved a some money either doing shores at home or selling hand drawings at school of Mazinger Z (Tranzor Z). I had always wanted a Transformer since they began broadcasting them in Puerto Rico, I was able to get enough money to put Prowl on layaway and slowly pay for him until my Birthday that year, unfortunately i ended up in the hospital with pneumonia for a month or so, I lost the layaway and Prowl too. It was a big deal to me as a kid then, but later as an adult, you somewhat remember little things like that, when you finally find a replica, in my case of Prowl or even the actual G1 toy in package, don't get me wrong I'm older now but its is this nostalgia that makes me enjoy Transformers, Star Wars, older and new Anime and so forth.

Transformers had just begun to broadcast in Puerto Rico, where at the time, as kids were limited to either older Japanese shows like Mazinger, Jeeg, Ironman 28, Gaiking, anime adaptation of classics like Treasure Island, Heidi and then the mid to late 80s brought us He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, M.A.S.K., GI Joe, Thundercats, but then we were introduced to Transformers.

As a kid, I like any other boy out there loved the transformation factor, be it playing with Megatron or making him fight Optimus after Megatron destroyed Roller inside the disappearing trailer, ok no pun intended. Watching the movie years later is as cool now as it was then.

something to remember I guess, I like Harry Potter too, but Transformers has taken such a long time to make its presence
made that Its a cause worth fighting for...

Support Transformers, no matter what the cost..."you got the Touch".....

Megatron: Fall Fall Fall, I've waited an eternity for this...It's over Prime...

Optimus: NEVER!!!!!

THATS RIGHT NEVER!!!!!

I find that Transformers has established the franchise, and helped to bring the kids in all of us, men an women, boy or girls. Its good to be a kid again, support Transformers for a second and third week, lets Transform and Roll Out... and make this the best movie of all time at the box office...

Im sorry Harry Potter just wont cut it for me...

Till all are one...

Harry Potter just opened to 44 mil on Wednesday. Whatever record TF's set the other week have probably just been DESTROYED. This weekend should prove strong as well.

It'd just about take a miracle at this point. What's truly sad is the 5th Potter movie ROYALLY SUCKED. Yes, I saw it yesterday. The 4th film (Goblet) was so vastly superior it's frightening. Even the two potter obsessed chicas who I went with were really upset over the movie....

TF's desrves so much better than this.

That's a great story, Blast_you_Prime, I can understand how you feel.

I already saw Transformers on Wednesday, so there's my contribution. My parents and I are fans of Harry Potter, my mom already pre ordered two copies of the last book. Yeah, probably go see Harry Potter 5.

HP may have overtook TF in the statistics in the first few days. But i believe in the longevity of the TF franchise. HP is just a big short burst that will die away very quickly. While TF viewers fades slowly and will carry on for a very long time. Imagine after more than 2 decades, these "silly" transforming robots are still alive, and had made a big blockbuster come back. And picked up even more fans along the way.

Also, the world is moving unquestionably towards the universe of technology and machination. Quite obviously away from the magic and wizardy of the olden times. A techy thing or idea makes more sense these days than unexplanable magic and superstition cults.

I'm a fan of both, and Australian, and I find your comments to be completely inaccurate.

The first four Harry Potter films are in the top 20 highest grossing films of all time in Australia.

And just because the TF movie has attracted new fans that does NOT mean they don't like Harry Potter as well.
^_^
Lol you got be kidding me...

What, people can't be Harry Potter fans AND Transformer fans?
No, maybe so that some people find magic fascinating, but most do not. You don't know what your talking about because your 15+ of age. Maybe elders like it and there the ones who rate it. Others around my age think its a lump of crap. And right now I don't here anyone talking about Harry Potter... everything is Transformers. I don't care whether it is rated top 20 grossing films, it can be rated number 1 for all I care. Almost everyone in my school thinks Harry Potter is gay, but what do you do? You follow the ratings :APPLAUSE:

I don't know what i'm talking about? Just what world are you living in?

Do you know the one great thing Harry Potter has done? It's got kids, yeah, KIDS, kids under the age of 15 reading books. In an age where the english language is slowly being destroyed and attention spans too short for the average kid to bother reading, Harry Potter has turned back that trend and got kids reading.

Harry Potter started out aimed at kids.

I went to the movies today to see Harry Potter, I saw practically every age group in the crowd, from kids to teens to young adults to middle age all the way up to old age.

People aren't talking about Harry Potter? Mate, do yourself a favour and watch the news, read a paper, walk around a shopping centre, Harry Potter is EVERYWHERE.

But then again you contradict yourself, you say no one's talking about it but then you say everyone in your school thinks it's "gay" (nice of you to read my post but then to ignore the Admin Cyber Bishop's post about using that word) which means that they must be talking about it at your school.

Oh and just so people know, i've seen Transformers once. And I never paid to see it either. 8)

What people are getting at is Daniel Radcliffe's stage debut in the play "Equus" where he plays a stable hand. There's a fairly long scene where he appears naked with a horse, but contrary to what people like to believe, there's nothing sexual between them.

A few hours ago, i was watching Jimmy Kimmel live and he said something along the lines of how Harry Potter made 44 million its first day, but that it had a way to go before it overtook the TF movie *crowd cheers/applauds*

Then they made a TF movie skit using different scenes from trailers of the movie, like when the protoforms fell from the sky, and then guillermo (from the jimmy kimmel show) was wearing strange costumes of speedo/spandex and other odd items pretending to be a transformer, then would flail his limbs around while "transforming" into different items, such as a stapler, that little small round sweeper robot that guides itself, bumping into walls and objects sweeping stuff, then later into an easy bake oven.

I wonder if it's on youtube yet..

I am not a usual poster here or any sites, but I'm Very sorry I ended up making everyone misserable and angry at the movie or each other about trying to get more fans to support this movie this weekend.

I do not see a point to posting any more if this is what someone who likes the show gets by just been supportive of the fandom.

I like to say that my first contact with anyone of this site was very positive. It was sometime earlier this year, the guy was stuck at the airport and I along with many offered him to stay at my place in Md others offered a ride or so I remember, if he could get here from New York I think thats where he was, glad to know he made it home safe. If you remember me I called you after i saw your post about been stuck in bad weather.

Here is something i found and I hope they get it, if I had enough money id give it to people to watch the film this weekend, but if it helps get the All Spark Cube as a collectible I know its worth it, just as good as watching the movie.

Ebay auction for the All spark cube last bid $40,000 plus

Enjoy the movie, if I offended anyone I am sorry, enjoy the fandom and Transformers...I will too

Whoa! Don't take offense to anything on a messageboard. I don't believe any negativity was directed at you. I think the fandom agrees with you. Besides the movie is already a huge success! Sequels have been greenlight. Money has been made. Don Murphy and crew are sitting on wads of money and want a repeat. You should be excited. Messageboards are for discussion. We discussed the topic.

I really don't see the point to all the hating of one movie. But I guess boys will be boys when it comes to their favourite things.
I won't be able to see the movie till Christmas or whenever it's out on offical dvd release due to bills taking up all my money for the next few months, but that's normal. I'm avoiding every spoiler since I would prefer to find out for myself instead of having it told to me.

I like the Potter books a lot, they surprised me with how enjoyable they were for adults of my age, 28, while not being too heavy for kids to enjoy. For the Potter books to be able to get kids reading in our modern times is amazing.

But I've found the current movies, I'll see the 5th out of boredom when it's out on dvd, so far to be alright if you're desperate for something to pass the time with, but lacking when compared to the books.
A movie made from a book rarely has the feel of the book since in a book, you can have insight into the characters and be able to imagine everything that's happening, in a movie it's all laid out for you without the insight that can help you like or hate the characters.

Bear in mind that if a TF movie sequel does appear at some point in the years to come, it doesn't mean it will be any good, it might be, but a lot of sequels tend to not be as good as the first one. Just have to wait and see.

All I'm concerned with when it comes to the TF movie is if it will be a good way to pass some time when it's out on dvd later in the year or early next year. Got to be better than the usual UK Christmas junk that comes on at that time of the year.

Tony.

agreed. i checked back out of sheer boredom, and the unique mix of an utterly hopeless and pointless cause, attempts to use personal ignorance as evidence, bizarre rants, and other miscellaneous idiocy definitely makes for an amusing read, albeit one recommended only for those with a high tolerance for comically over-the-top stupidity.

Saw harry potter 5 last night - ok, but I expected more. Doesn't hold a candle to TF. The best movies so far are 1. Transformers and 2. Diehard 4. Everything else sucked! Looking forward to Bourne Ultimatum though - I really like that series and this will be the final chapter.

o ya, I think Harry Potter will have a higher dropoff rate after the first week. The word of mouth and people seeing it twice will have people continually seeing TF for a while. This is the summer for TF to take over the world. Enjoy the spotlight while it lasts till the next movie, autobots and decepticons.

And according to BOM Potter made $18.3 million Thursday, which is a surprising drop to me since that is actually less than Transformers made last Thursday even after already having been out two full days.

Factor in July 4th mid-week, and most people taking off the rest of the week, versus non-holiday week. I wouldn't be too surprised if TF beats Potter on Week 1 vs Week 1 total gross, though.
