HMW v2 FAQs (First Post Updated Nov 2nd)
I was looking at the tactics/abilities the alt modes will have and I noticed something kinda doesn't make sense to me.
Fighter [Strafe/Avoid/Catch]
Regular airplanes are listed as having dogfighting but a fighter doesn't? Shouldn't fighter jets have the ability to dog fight as well as air planes. After all they are built for areal combat and dogfighting is a part of it. Then agian I'm sure the people working on this know what they're doing just pointing out something I thought was odd.

Airplanes have since changed to another set of tactics, as have jets and interceptors actually, so they're probably more accurate now. However I won't release what these new tactic combos are yet as I'm still working on things.

There are two possibilities that I can think of, and I don't know if wither are true.
a) You take a territory that lists Minicon X as a prize. You automatically get a certain number of X minicons in your invantory, so long as you have space of course
b) Once you take a territory that lists Minicon X as a prize, the option to buy the minicon becomes available.

Here's a thought on that...
Since there are a limited number of minicons availiable in the current set up, how about this. When area X is conquered, a preset number (example 400) are released to that faction's minicon shop. There should be one type of minicon per zone. You want a minicon that boosts attack? Conquer that zone.
Thoughts?

i dislike the win terriory x get Y amount of resouce available to purchase for the following reasoon;

Mini-cons on paper will be a limited supply.
They're designed to essentially give a much needed boost when in dire straits. They are NOT designed to be constantly used.
And this has got me worried. How do you deal with the people who are constantly using mini-cons and are simply playing for their own personal glory and NOT for their faction?
I can just see some animosity brewing as well as mini-con addictions when it comes down to personal glory -vs- what's best for the faction.
as such i'd rather that aslong as you own a territory that has defelcters you can buy them, no faction stockpile, just an infinite amount ready to be bought, and if you lose the territory you lose the option to buy them
that way we avoid all the problems of having finite stocks and possible animostiy; some people will be team players and are the guys winning the minicons can't equip them becuase people who aren't team players buy them all first, and then we avoid the opposite position where one, or both sides, aquire such massive stockpiles of minicons in their faction shop that they render taking or losing that resouce terrritory moot, as they have more than enougth to get through the drought.
same deal for the weapons, armour, and any other "equipment"

Remember, however, that you can only have 12 minicons at anytime; if someone "constantly" buys up minicons, h can only deplete the stocks by 12 at any given time, unless he's on 24/7 and killing his 'bots constantly.

How many minicon types are we talking about anyway?

As Davidasnoddy said, the minicons are already a limited supply. My thopught was not that as long as you hold territory X that you have that minicon availiable, but once you conquer it you will have a set number unlocked to your factions minicon shop. Once they are gone, they are gone until you conquer that area again. ( because you know the other side will want it.) Say 200 minicons released per successful zone conquering.

Sorry but this is meant to be a war and it's not realistic to have the factions play musical chairs with the minicon territories, which is what would happen with such a system.

Since the territories will likely change ownership multiple times, what would you suggest? (Don't consider this a snarky response, but a real question.) I highly doubt any faction will be able to hold "strongholds" for any lengthy period of time, so musical chairs is going to happen. How about getting a reward for it?

What I'd do is to have a limited amount when you capture and then restocked every week or so.

and thats fine until someone has a minicon addiction and eats up the stock. it's painfully clear what happens when demand out strips supply, the bots are feeling it now, and it relegates minicons to a novelty. and uncrazzimatic's right, musical chairs would happen, it's not beyond players to organise a boycotting/throwing of sector control missions to generate stocks for their faction.
the cons have gone through 200 in the last 24 hours, it really does deplete very quickly if people constantly replace lost minicons
if we basically have resouces on/off dependant on sector control, we don't have to worry about making people who never come to the boards(the majority)play for the team, they can play casually(which is good, if everyone has to play hard, not everyone will want to play) it also means that if someone does manage to accumulate vast amounts of energon, a minicon addiction will give them something to spend it own(which is good as it's highly unlikey that you can sustain a cost effective combat with minicons).
i very much doubt the territories will change ownership as long as both sides try to maintain control, you'll see a pretty constant situation, where one side will dominate for a while, and only slowly do changes occur, unless theirs a monummetal catastrophe like the oops.

will "i for one"would rather see them as built when bought, they cost a LOT more to buy than a TF added to a team.
giving minicons for areas of the map, would be bad if one side got a advantage at any point, and some configs that depend on one or two types of minicons, taking away access to one type would not be fair for some alts classes equal to others.which could be used to a big advantage to the enemy having access to all types of minicons,in which they would slowly take away the rest over time.
i just like the idea of it being built when bought, seems to me to be the way it would happen, and slapping in minicon parts so you could collect parts from fallen minicons when the mission is won ,and form new missions,or even a random gift for any mission(a hidden treasure found)or something along those lines.in which each minicon has its own part amount to build or even different types of parts put together in different mixes for different minicons.
also on a more war like note
never leave anything behind that the enemy can use,and take what you can to aid your side.

the whole point is that that give a the side with more sectors under it's control an advantage.
there will be a failsafe to stop one side totally dominating though.
i really do like the idea of finding and/or stealing them in missions

I seem to recall OS making ominous noises about energon being *much* more important in V2. Perhaps we will find that the natural limiting factor is not the number of minicons, but the amount we can spend. I would not be surprised if we found ourselves struggling to accumulate enough energon to even consider buying out all the minicons. At least for the first few months. Then, the problem (if it has appeared to be one) can be adressed.

With all 15000+ transformers starting at lvl 0, there will be a long haul to get to lvl one. remember how little energon you get at that stage? Expensive toys like Minicons will be out of reach (most will use their dough to get their grubby hands on weapons and armor.)
remember, the minicon is a toy, an addition or boost. They shouldn't be common per-say, and should be kept as a rare/desired addition. What might be a interesting tactic is being able to level up minicons, by upgrading them with parts from ones destroyed in battle. Of course, thats a whole other can of worms for the development team.
Or how about the option of selling your minicon back to the database?

That would make sense story wise, as finding energon was a big thing in the G1-beast era continueity, and still important in many others.

Are we near the reset date yet? Will we get a warning beforehand?
Also, I guess it's pointless to really put an effort into our bots until the reset, right? I think I rejoined at a good time. I was here 2yrs ago and I returned to find my team here but all my bots gone from another reset probably.
One suggestion I have. Is there anyway to get automatically put back into battle while we're offline? Like maybe an energon fee as we have for the CR.

I am moving new things into the game all the time. Each of these things are bits and pieces of HMW2. If you play now it keeps you up to snuff on what is going on. But it is up to you.

There are other ways around the issue. Let's just say I will be very happy to insta-ban anyone who attempts to cheat in the new game.Shin-Reaper wrote:Will the passcodes return in V2?

we really need to have a hmw code of conduct citing what counts as cheating.

their eye, hopefully.
what about enduring/avoiding repairers, or is the mission move limit script taking care of that?
if it is, whats the reason for the maintianing that repairers can't fix themselves, i recall that feature was removed for the same reason as the mission move limit?
