WHAT?? TRY $160.00 dollars for 9 Takara repainted beast wars figures who are almost masterpieces.. .Straight from HLJ. their costs are better.. had I bought from BBTS i wold have to have added 10.00 to each figures cost which would bring the total to...240.00... not worth the extra cost!! bulk shipping from HLJ was only 16.00. So what if the DVD is in Japanese, I bought the US english dvd box sets..

People who hate G1 Starscream are just jealous that he got screen time and useless characters like Hound and Trailbreaker got nothing, which is what they deserved. The much maligned Sunstorm has more personality in his nosecone than these guys had.

How can people keep straight faces when they say that Sunstorm was useless and overrated and then pimp background characters from G1? Maybe it's because we're conversing via internet magic technology.....

Simon Furman does in fact stand on the shoulders of giants to disguise his subpar abilities.

Beast Machines was a great show.

Predaking is not overrated.

Beast Wars really did suck until the fandom got used to it, and even then, the good episodes didn't show up until the last two of season 1.

5 against one nothing, Devastator would kick the piss out of the Dinobots. The Dynobots as portrayed in War Within however, could have mangled anyone.

Who really cares if Oprimus Prime is a fire truck or not, he's an overrated whiny baby.

Rodimus PRime and Ultra Magnus were worse.

I don't know why people go so nuts over totally obscure characters in the TF Universes. I always thought Trailbreaker looks cool and I like the idea of him as a character, but in the G1 show he was useless except for what, two or three times when his force field powers came in handy?
We all have our favorite characters for whatever our reasons may be, but geez, Trailbreaker? Mirage??? CLIFFJUMPER???? I don't get it, but whatever, at the end of the day all this stuff is makebelieve anyway and like whoever you want. I'm just expressing my opinions here, so sorry Trailbreaker fans.

Who cares about Arcee? Accurate G1 toy or not, just, who cares?

Mass shifting is a pretty dumb idea.

The movie designs are actually pretty nice, and I think we are overly critical about the movie toys. Movie Blackout looks very cool, but so many people piss their pants over repaints of scout class figures from previous lines. "Wow, Arcee is getting a movie repaint!" Who cares? It was a garbage figure from Energon anyhow.

Everyone who bitches about repaints probably bought the Sector 7 scout repaints at Target. I did, but I don't bitch about repaints. And as hypocritical as this may sound, I did buy Arcee because I liked the paint job.

Cybertron Vector Prime is one of the worst figures I own.

Minicons are in fact worse than humans in TF cartoons.

It certainly is. People need to start accepting that.
Also:
--robots should not change colors when they get powered up. Here's looking at you, Armada. And at least we got Armada Thundercracker instead of 'Powerlink Starscream'.

--robots should not feel obligated to talk for the entire time they are on screen. Looking at you, Cybertron and Energon.

--the first episode of Rebirth is not the emergence of the Headmasters et all, but a rollcall of characters coming to the toy store near you. "What's the commotion about Brainstorm?" "I have this wild new technological idea, Chromedome!" "What did Brainstorm say, Hardhead?" "I don't know Highbrow, but here comes the Decpticon clones, Pounce and WIngspan!" "Let's get 'em Pounce!" "Ok Wingspan!" "Check your monitor Sureshot." "Ok Pointblank, tell Cereberos to check in on Goldbug." Garbage.

--no matter how advanced the technology, no civilization in the universe could turn a busted down underground city into Scorpanok in the course of one episode.

--Counterpunch, as portrayed by Seibertrons' own Counterpunch, is in fact EVERYONES' hero. Some people are just in denial.

My opinions?

Rodimus and Galvatron were much more interesting than Optimus and Megatron. They made the G1 cartoon tolerable.

The Alts. are kind of boring and often charmless. I don't understand the fuss. I like my toys to be varied and have at least some semblance of character or individuality.

Simon Furman may not be the best comic book writer, but looking at TF comics alone one can see there isn't much choice. There's Budiansky, whose caps are almost painful to read, and then there's the Dreamwave bunch, whose efforts read like some of the worst TF fanfiction found on the internet.

A lot of the G1 toys were poor. They were.

They are cool because most of them are original characters that do not have a figure, and are all canon. They deserve a lot of attention so that they can get they're own figure, especially the super niche ones like Guiltor! Speaking of which...

1. I am well aware that Guiltor is quite possibly the least known character to appear in the Transformer Universe, and I have declared myself his mega-fan because of this. I also know that he will most likely never get an official figure or a second appearance, but I always hope he will someday. Also I am aware that the concept of making a character that is essentially "the best of both worlds" could be considered lame, but he is the only character of his kind that I am aware of in the TF Universe, and he looks cool. Also, he was basicly Scourge/Black Convoy years before the black repaints ever existed.

2. As it has been said, the movie figures look very strange, with some bizzare head sculpts. However, if compared to some of the ones found in Beast Wars, they really are of a similar nature. Claw Jaw has a strange head and face, for example.

3. As said, Alts. look extremely nice and are awsomely detailed, but are not much fun to fiddle with. Also, they are way out of place and scale with any line save Masterpiece and other alts.

4. The simplest transformer is often the one that gets the most transformation time. Transformations that take upwards of a minute or more and require precise panel/part lining up get transformed the least.

5. Big Convoy is not the best Beast Wars figure in any way. I've read a few reviews that say he does. The fact is, he has a really cool looking robot mode with a bunch of parts hanging off that don't translate in any way to the robot mode.

6. While they may be hard to pose, the deluxe Powerlinking Energon Autobots are some of the most fun transformers figures created.

Hmm, maybe I'll come up with some more. Hope I didn't offend anyone, I'm just trying to add to the conversation.

True, but Red Alert was portrayed in a very homosexual way at the end of "Auto Beserk". Gayest ending ever. I love that episode, and think it's a classic, but hate the ending in every way possible, and fastfoward or skip past it.

Stop hiding $hit. If you don't have the money, leave it alone. I don't care how HTF it is. Ever heard of layaway? And I don't want any speeches about how "Not all of us have the money to buy the stuff we want right then." Exactly. Some of us do. So, unless you're helping a friend out, knock it off.

I have even more respect for scalpers than people who hide stuff. At least the scalpers are actually buying the product, when all the "hiders" want to do is prevent someone else from buying the product. 90% of the time they never even come back for it.

I also don't understand why people make two separate trips to the same store. It's as if they make one trip just to make sure the store has what they want, then they run home, get their money and head back(and will be the first to bitch when that hot item they wanted is gone). Ever hear of a debit/credit cards? Walking into any store without some form of currency is plain stupidity, and is a clear indicator that you have entirely too much free time.

Blast, thought of this too late to edit my last post. Oh well.

Mirage has too many figures. He's a cool character, but why does every F-1 NEED to be named Mirage? I'm hoping Classics is his last figure for awhile, because it really is awsome and the most articulated Classic. But really, overexposure, especially when there are so many older characters who should have gotten a figure instead(the Datsuns, Trailbreaker, Beachcomer, etc.).

Speaking of Trailbreaker, while I don't have the figure, I have Hoist, and he's one of the coolest looking bots in all of G1, and a great mold.

Ironhide deserves an alt. for character purposes.

The Prowl name has no meaning anymore, and has lost any value it ever had. There are at least three different other Police Cars in the Transformer Universe(Siren, Streetwise, Stakeout), let them appear once in awhile!

Prime is overdone, and has little to no characterization. Optimus Primal is a more interesting leader.

You see where this is going. Tell you what, if you can scrounge up the cash to pay me a competitive salary rate to good ol Mr. Furman, then I'll take that bet. I guarantee I can produce better quality than what's currently being churned out.

On topic, the movie bots on your shelves don't just look like they can kick the ass of every other bot you own, they're waiting to do to it.

Beast wars was cool, because the story had a beginning and an ending and if left to itself would be a completed saga. the characters in that series were never useless, and they all had their jobs to do. Some came into the series, were wild cards, some died off, and some were combined into one being.. overall, it was a great show..

A/E/C/ RID/ even, and I hate to say it G-1 was lacking in that respect..

I cherish every Beast Wars figure I now own. I am still a G-1 Fan, but I'm completely hooked on Beast Wars.. and good timing too, had I been a fan back in the day, i would have bought the first releases, which I have seen since the reissues, and are not very good in detail as say the Takara Reissues, which are 1 million times better and accurately painted as well..!!!

I love those Beasties.. !!!

I liked Hoist and other G-1 bots, but after awhile you kinda wonder....why are these guys around? What do they do?

a series should either kill off members, split into another series, or just not add new toys unless your ready to kill some off..

Optimus primal was a great Leader, and down to Earth and cool..

Optimus prime from G-1 was large and in charge and kinda straight all the time.. with a few laughable moments...

i think the new additional "Hu" Human element being added to Prime via Michael Bay will kinda Bring G-1 Prime a lot closer to BW Prime in a lot of respects and should make him an instant success!!!

again if you don't like what i wrote, refer to the previous page and post # 22..

It has nothing to do with liking it.

Last week it was the RiD guys, the week before you were bent on Masterpiece, this week it's Beastwars.

At any rate, it's the Un-Popular opinions thread. It's pretty universally respected that the Beast Wars story line is head and shoulders above other TF fiction.

The PSA's in G1 stuck with you through life. Admit it. You didn't run away from home because of Bumblebee, you wore reflectors because of Red Alert and you wore a life jacket because of Seaspray.

There are people who defend Wheelie simply because there are alot of people who hate him. Get over it. He sucked ass.

For any figure from any line that you love, there will be three that you hate.

Pepsi Convoy is better than any other Prime/Convoy ever.
