More like the awesome movie you watched and hated due to lack of taste. 90% of the rest of the fandom calls it transformers. Now take your head out where the sun dont shine.

It is and will always be called Bayformers...nothing more and nothing less.

No...no I'm quite sure the title was Tranformers.

The Wikipedia article
The IMDb page.

But when I look for Bayformers, I get this:

Hey, I refer to it as Bayformers, but that's because saying Transformers the Live Action Movie is waaaay to long for a conversation. I'd prefer to call it Spielbergformers, but that sounds kind of like something you might find in a cheese manufacturing plant instead.

Back to the topic at hand!

If they did have to hand the reins of power over to a new director, there's a few people out there who I'd like to see take a shot. David Twohy, as mentioned earlier, would be an interesting choice, and he's definitely got an eye for big budget sci fi action flicks. Sam Raimi, not so much, as his movies have become overly repetitious in scheme. Peter Jackson, while definitely able to direct a badass fight scene, just doesn't really do it for me. I think someone like Luc Besson ( probably best known for the Fifth Element ) or Kurt Wimmer might be able to break out something really interesting as far as story and designs are concerned.

Personally? I'd like to see Guillermo Del Toro get a shot, if Bay ever dropped out as director. He's never done big budget action, but he's got a great eye for story and design. While he wouldn't really fit a standard Autobots vs. Decepticons movie, I could see him doing something mindblowing for a movie where the main plot centers around Unicron, or maybe even the Quintessons. If anyone could make those lame Quints cool, I would say it would be Del Toro. The guy has a way with things with tentacles...

Hmm...I forgot all about Thwohy. He'd probably be pretty decent at it as pitch black and riddick were exellent movies.

I dont know about Wimmer as his only good film was Equilubrium. Luc Besson would be an exellent choice though if the Fifth Element is anything to go by (and it is).

What about the director of I, robot though, Alex Proyas? I, robot was a great sci-fi movie with some awesome action and great story telling in it, he also directed the Crow which is a classic. I think he would be my pick of the pack after Bay. Im not too sure this is the right kinda subject matter for someone like Del Toro to take charge of. I loved Blade 2 but it was very adult, and Hellboy sucked if i remember correctly and everything he did before that sucked too (except for the aforementioned Blade 2)

Peter Jackson would be the worst choice for the job....King Kong anyone? I mean it was a good movie but it was waaaaaay over long and drawn out. And if he did a transformers movie it would end up with Wheelie and bumblebee playign the role of frodo and sam, going on some quest to some volcano on cybertron to destroy the remaining piece of the allspark for good. Then we'd have 5 or 6 different endings in the final film of the trilogy...*blah blah blah rant rant rant like Randal Graves style in Clerks Two*

Hehe...heh....hehe.....ok seriously now, i just died a little inside at the tought of him directing TF2.

Come on guys! TF2 has to be a sequel on the scale of Terminator 2, or The Godfather 2, or Aliens! It has to be AMAZING! (i wish the world was always like this. Ahhh....i like my suger coated rainbow land...shame the pills only last for so long though.)

P.S. I wasnt referring to illigal drug use. I have prescribed meds that make me feel all "happy" and stuff when i take them every night, and i just did. So please dont ban me mods. Pweaaaase!?

He did FireFly and Serenity, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, writes for Marvel (Is he still doing that?).

He also did Titan A.E. Can someone explain why people hate Titan A.E.? I loved that movie. (Saw it at a young age, and it stuck with me, much in the same way G1 did with you guys)

Yes we did. Thunderbirds was killed not by the cast and crew but by the fans. To be honest it was never even givin a chance. Ironicaly for the very same reason so many complaints were lodged about Transformers. There were simply too many changes (oddly enough less than in TF) and because of this the fans destroyed it before it even hit theaters. It became one of those movies that was bad simply because people said it was bad not because of the movie itself. Because of that there were many people who had no intrest in going to see/taking their children to see it and the movie bombed at a time when a movie of it's type should have done fairly well wether it was good or not.

Wait... Johnathan Frakes? Oh. Oh god. No, just, god no. I love First Contact, but that's about it. Get him as a voice actor, instead.

Alex Proyas. Now that's a neat idea. He did one of my favorite movies of all time, Dark City, so I'll always back him up. Actually, he's got a great track record for me, and I anticipate that his Silver Surfer movie will be pretty good ( most because it'll end up coming off a J.Michael Straczynski script ). I could see him directing, writing or producing pretty easily.

Titan A.E., was is and will always be one of my favorite movies. It's one of those flicks that has no middle ground, you either love it or hate it. Again, I'm not big on Whedon directing, but I'd love to see what he could do in other positions. Same with the Wachowskis. They could write or produce something for Transformers any day in my opinion.

Another name that just popped into my head is John Milius. He's mentioned how he's always wanted to do a kind of epic sci-fi action movie, and he can write/produce. Not known so much for directing, unless you're a Conan fan. He managed to pony up some pretty detailed characterization and dialogue in what should have been just another popcorn fantasy flick.

You know who would be cool for the script?

David "Solid Snake" Hayter.

He wrote the first two X-Men movies, I.e. the good ones. He also did The Scorpion King. (Don't know how people feel that one, I haven't even seen the whole thing, just bits and pieces)

He's also doing Watchmen.

OH! That gives me an idea for director (Albeit wishful thinking) if we HAD to get rid of Bay...

Zack Snyder. Dawn of the Dead and 300, two of the best adaptations/remakes of all time.

Hayter: Yes. Word is that his Watchmen script is about as faithful to the source as you can get. Scorpion King was a fun movie. It's another for the "You either love it or you hate it" bin.

Zack Snyder: Absolutely yes. The guy's good and fantastic at capturing the feel of whatever source he's working from, be it an old zombie movie or a awesome graphic novel. Can you imagine what he could do with a Transformers movie that used one of the comics for inspiration? You'd end up with something like in 300 where scenes were ripped straight from the novel. I think if anyone can do Watchmen, perhaps the hardest thing I can think of to film next to Paradise Lost, I've gotta say it'll probably be him.

Plus, he's a fanboy geek at heart. I can only imagine what he'll end up doing next after Watchmen.

Technically, Hayter is not, as much as he wishes he was. Snyder and company are just using parts of his screenplay for script and story they're writing.
