I enjoyed the movie. I saw the midnight release, so the capacity crowd was rockin. It was a great time with people reacting to the jokes and the action scenes. When they went to Chernobyl a little kid yelled "LASERBEAK!!!" when they showed the shot of Laserbeak haning in the dark.
I thought most of the plot points were obvious enough to figure out, even though they weren't directly explained.

I was confused and upset about Ironhide's death. I watch these movies to be entertained and I don't often question why things happen. This one really got me though. Sentinel shot Ironhide. Why did Ironhide disintegrate after being shot? They didn't mention Sentinel have some weapon that would do that. All the other bots survived unless their heads got destroyed. When you kill off a major character, you need to adress stuff like that. Hell, they zoomed in on Ironhide's head as he dissolved. There was also no mention of Ironhide through the rest of the movie. I haven't gotten this worked up about a movie death since Serpentor threw a snake through Duke's chest!

I loved the way they trashed Chicago. From the previews, I assumed that the 'Cons were going to Invade and the 'Bots and humans were trying to stop them. I thought they did a brillian thing with having the Cons take Chicago and the Bots having to try to get it back against impossible odds.
I don't like the inclsuion of Decepticon military vehicles. I would rather see the Cons doing the fighing using alt modes to fly around. Seriiously, you can fly. Why build a little attack ship to fly around in? I can see using a huge ship to transport lots of troops across space, but those little fighter ships seemed redundant.

Someone above mentioned the plot differences between the book and the movie. I checked out the comic adaptation yesterday. I hope that when they release the movie on DVD, they include the "directors cut" because I would love to see the twins get gacked and see the book ending where Megatron goes back to Cybertron. That seems like a more "Transformers" ending to me. I don't disagree with Prime killing Megatron, but they manner in which it was done leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I thought the 3D work was the best I've ever seen. I thought it blew away the 3d from Avatar. Sure there were 3d gimmick moves during the movie, but that's going to happen in any 3d movie.

I will see this move 3 or 4 more times before it is out of theaters.

Exactly.

Its very hard to swallow any negative points/aurguments about the movie when simple things like this are not only over looked, but an attempt to bash the movie/bay.

Oh, and vegetcron, the Uwe Boll thing is getting alittle old. ;)

Decent writing? Just watch the freaking movie! Most problems people have are explained by simply paying attention to the movie.

there is no need when its not. thats the point, if people find it that way they will mention it. People mentioned it and what happened, no more twins. Problem was solved due to people complaining about something which offended them.

what i dont get, and these are not plot holes per se

- the idea of using humans for slaves. How many transformers populated cybertron. Not many, a lot some ?? surely a lot of humans would not really that be effective in terms of rebuilding the planet. You know considering our size, strength and resilience compared to the transformers. And then does cybertron have a sustainable atmosphere for human life. To be fair i think sentinal was a bit mental if he thought this was a good plan, it would seem easier to just take the resources and not bother having to deal with six billion slaves

- ironhides death and the lack of reaction from the bots just saddened me. he went out like a chump, liked how it was unexpected, but thought prime could have least reflected upon it. But then i guess you would have to had seen a relationship between any of the bots to know if they cared about each other, rather three or four lines per movie

- the timeline between cube, fallen and pillars is confusing, does make sense with a bit of manipulation. Its easier to pretend that rotf doesnt exist. Works for me anyway :-0

Then Megatron would still be dead, the Decepticon protoforms wouldn't exist, therefore the army wouldn't be nearly as vast as it was, The Matrix would have just seemed like a tagged on 5 second mystery never explained, and all the references they made to ROTF would make no sense.

megs was as good as dead for all he did in the movie. he barely appeared in it, and did he even have a fight sceme other than at the end, when he blindsided sentinal

the protoforms couldnt exist because why ??? they werent explained in rotf, they jsut appeared.

Therefore the matrix could have just appeared as well in dotm

Its just wishful thinking anyway, i wasnt being serious

Re-read my posts. These movies are not well written.

To sum up, here are my main complaints about the story:

1) 17000 BC, the Fallen builds a harvester on Earth. Primes steal back the matrix, and sacrifice their lives to entomb the Matrix underground. The next time we see the Fallen, he's crash landed on Saturn in 2009. The movie is extremely vague about what happens in between these two points in time.

2) Jetfire says that Energon is the life blood of Cybertronians; without it, they rust and fall apart. Starscream says that the hatchlings need Energon to survive. These are the only two points in the movies where Transfomers are shown suffering from Energon depletion. DOTM introduces the idea of Energon detectors, suggesting that all living Transformers have Energon in their bodies (makes sense, since it is their "life blood.") So if the Allspark has been destroyed, where are they getting their Energon? Not only that, when Cybertron lost the Allspark in the first place, how did the Transformers continue to function with no Energon source for thousands of years? If the Decepticons have no Energon supply, why create a nest of hatchlings if they know they have no means of sustaining them? Wouldn't it make more sense to secure control over the Allspark, Matrix, and Harvester...and THEN create the hatchlings?

DOTM then says that Earth's natural resources will be enough to rebuild Cybertron and their race. If they can subsist on other forms of energy, then it eliminates the need for an Allspark or the solar harvesters.

3) Sentinel Prime's plan seems awfully vague. He made a deal to work with Megatron so long that Cybertron will be saved. Makes sense so far. Based on what the movies tell us, we know that Megatron left first, and then Sentinel, because we know that the Allspark crashed on Earth at some point in the past, Megatron crashed sometime before the 20th century, and then Sentinel crashed on the moon in the early '60s. These Transformers don't seem to have very good landing skills. I mean, Megatron approaches Earth and crashes...Sentinel approaches the moon and crashes...the Fallen flies to Saturn's moon and...you guessed it, crashes.

The movies never make it really clear exactly what their plan was. DOTM almost makes it seem as though the plan all along was to meet up on Earth, use a space bridge to bring Cybertron into our solar system, and use Earth's natural resources for energy and the humans for slaves. But they couldn't have known the Allspark was going to land on Earth, and they couldn't have known that Earth would have lifeforms they could use for slaves. And transporting Cybertron into our solar system doesn't really serve any purpose that I can see. So they just ventured blindly into space with some vague goal of enslaving some planet, and they all just happened to crash land on Earth?

If they did know that the Allspark was on Earth before any of them left, I don't see why Megatron, the Fallen, and Sentinel couldn't have just gone to Earth, used the Cube to find the Matrix, used the Matrix to destroy the sun, and then space bridge the re-energized Cube back to Cybertron.

4) Sentinel Prime arrives on the moon along with 200 Decepticons in the early 1960s, and only Sentinel is knocked into stasis. They remove the pillars and are photograpehd by the Russians. Soundwave and Laserbeak go about recruiting humans to their cause. If they had that big of a force concentrated on the moon, I don't see why they didn't just go in with guns blazing and take over the world right then. Or, if they wanted to bide their time, I don't see why they didn't help out with the battle against the Autobots in Mission City, or in Egypt. Why just chill on the moon until 2011 when Sentinel opened the space bridge?

I agree the live action movies are not well written nor do they have any decent dialogue.

examples are as follows below:

in the 2007 & ROTF movies why weren't their any detectors done by the autobots to notice their was a huge ark with sentinel prime on the moon.

the fallen why didn't he swoop down in the 2007 movie. why wait till the rotf movie.

why weren't their any signs of humans being controlled/manipulated by decepticons in the 2007 & rotf movie.

the live action TF movie use way too much corny & horrible written dialogue. mostly spoken by sam,his friends & parents. in DOTM eddy used tons of corny dialogue.

if the doctor was able to rebuild/fix megatron in the ROTF movie. why didn't the doctor/scalpel fix & repair megatron in the 4 year period after rotf ended & before DOTM started. I don't think the doctor/scalpel died in the ROTF movie. their were a bunch of dead robots on both sides the doctor could have used to repair/fix megatron like he did in the rotf movie.

In dotm, they stated that megatron & his crew used optimus to revive sentinel because he had the matrix. it's stated in the DOTM movie the decepticons stole hundreds of the pillars before 2007 movie started.
how did ther decepticons know that prime would revive sentinel before the 2007 movie if prime got the matrix near the end of the ROTF movie.

Agree with Shockwave one of the most gratest expectation of the movie...he has no significative role on the movie...an Optimus Prime hanging on wires? left me with no words.

Yeah, he usually has more blades in his wrist than a swiss army knife, and this time there were extra blades in his jetpack, he had an axe, or he could just burn the wires with his afterburner.

Despite some minor flaws, I pretty much like this movie as much as the first, and I can't believe I say this, but I'd like to see a fourth one (now that there are human allies, bring in the headmasters and a new Decepticon leader! Overlord, Scorponok, it's your turn!)

Overlord, Scorponok, it's your turn!)

yeah! it's a good movie...better than revenge of the fallen.
Victory depends on everyone point of view.

I'd like to have seen megs in his truck mode for more then the 3 seconds we get. But I enjoyed it.
New pics added as I find time.
