Wasn't impressed. Optimus, and the Autobots, were all out of character in this movie. Carly was good, but their way of righting out Mikaela and making her seem like a bad person wasn't fitting or right.
Wait to see it On Demand or on DVD were you get more for your money than one watch.

im so beat up over ironhide, had to kill him, just had to!! right? geez, he beat the snot outta them dreads for nothing. just upset me, lol i know its just a movie, but couldnt they have just killed sam? lol.
overall i thought it was unique, action packed and just insane in some scenes.. soundwave was awesome, although i think they could have given shockwave more credit..and megatron.. i was a little preoccupied during the movie, but why was megatron just sitting down when carly manipulated him? i thought he hated humans too? he shoulda just flicked her away like in transformers 1. lol i gotta love the wreckers voices.. all crazy, their visors were sweet..lol and im just glad they didnt kill sideswipe.. but poor q. beggin for his life.. relentless.. barricade was being himself, lol damn.

A forgettable, bloated mess that somehow manages to be boring for much of its running time.
ROTF at least could use the writers' strike as a crutch. What's DOTM's excuse?

While watching DOTM, I kept thinking "Maybe I've outgrown this kind of thing".
Then I realized that I still enjoy these types of movies and the Transformers franchise.
I reached the point where I simply didn't care and was tired of it.
Some new faces may be introduced, but it was the same human characters cracking the same jokes and the same robots beating the crap out of each other.
The first time around, it was fresh and exciting.
After the 3rd time, it was just boring to me.

Yeah, i hate to defend a Uwe Bay film, but for what it was, it was a pretty badass movie. You just gotta watch it without the G1 analytical mind intact. Thats what i did and i enjoyed it.

I couldn't agree more. I was bored for most of the movie. I mean, I actually thought about leaving. The first hour and a half was a mess of way too drawn out, overly explained setup that was too heavy on humans. At least RoTF got going quickly. This just seemed to drag on.

Don't agree with that opinion at all. Bad movies should do bad. If it does good then there will just be more of the same instead of them making major changes to re-captivate the audience.

Re: Share your reviews of Transformers Dark of the Moon here!
The movie was an absolute mess in the beginning. I was about to leave an hour into it. The movie tried to redeem itself in the last 45 minutes. The "acting" was suspect all the way through. Hopefully at least the transformers 3 toys will live up to expectations. I am not liking ultimate optimus prime. Looks too much like a butterfly than a transformer.

Same, contemplated leaving.
I couldn't stand that one Asian guy from the Hangover films. Total mismatch there, as well as Sam's boss, and the (horrible fake and inconsistent accented) guy that was Simmons' right hand man. Sam with the Decepticon watch was stupid too. Because making Sam act like a wierdo isn't going to draw any attention.

G1 plays no part in personal judgment of the live action movies, but I must admit that thoughts of G1 popped into my mind twice during DOTM:
1) When I realized at the very end of the movie that a legendary children's hero in Optimus Prime had turned into a character I detest.
2) The plot seemed oddly reminiscent of a couple multi-part G1 episodes and how I would have preferred to be watching those very episodes at the time.

Same here. To be honest, if it wasn't for seeing the pics of him on set, i don't think i would have even known he had a tanker trailer. At least we got to see him transform. Thats one thing i was disapointed with Sentinel Prime. I was really looking forward to seeing a good shot of him transforming. But all we got were a couple shots when he was running away.
Another thing i was disapointed with was Optimus Prime's entrance. In TF1 and ROTF, his entrance was epic. Rolling down the alley in the dead of night through the nights mist... Then jumping out of an airplane and transforming mid-air. Epic!! And this time around we just see him drving down the the street?? Truely disapointing, but got over it after his trailer transformed into his weapons depot!

I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw the movie. Optimus had the most epic entrance EVAR in ROTF! Jumping out of an airplane and transforming in mid air! Epicest thing ever.

Yeah, I thought he could have been sitting next to an autobot on the streets and transformed. like the here's Johnny kind of thing. But wishful thinking is all. And also I thought perhaps the Wreckers would be the ones to take out the dreads.

Yes I have to concur w/u there...After reading the spoiler about Ironhide's death at Sentinel Prime's hand made me very upset, angry and i just cried. I hope that I dont stand up in the theatre and scream Noooo!!! when Ironhide dies... I knew Sentinel would do something bad, but at the time I could not put my finger on it. He has the same personality like he was in G1 and G2, a total jerk and im being nice here. I'd kill Sentinel, that traitor, as well for that he did to Ironhide; as Ironhide is my Favourite Character... after all I have a 2006 Black TopKick w/stacks exactly like Ironhide's Vehicle! w/his name on his licence plate and the Autobot Emblem on his back tailgate (not the same one from BotCon, as mine is nicer). I'll feel strange getting into my Topkick knowing that the character is dead....I hope that they bring Ironhide back! Probably not...

saw it today...much better than the previous movies. slapstick/dicknfart joke/innuendo numbers were waaay down in this one. John Turturro made it out without showing his ass. And Sam's folks were sidelined, almost benched for the entire film!
It was about 30-40 mins too long. the explaination of Megan Fox's absence was lame and destroyed the emotional core of human involvement that the trilogy was going for (glad I didnt shell out the dough for 3d as the new chick's lips were terrifying enough without jumping out of the screen). And Megatron vs Prime was cut down to about 10 seconds.
Like the others, not a good movie, but I got to see big robots punching, and stabbing, and decapitating each other!
Such heroic nonsense!
I-a personally a-liked when-a da Ferrari pulled-a over and-a ordered a big-a slice-a da pizza pie.

So, which one is it then? The movie is making/will make millions this weekend because people are seeing it multiple times because it's top notch and no one cares that some fans are let down because the movie isn't made for fans but for those who spend the money, or if we as fans don't support it we'll be screwed because we only hurt ourselves, and they won't make any more movies because fans didn't support them, even though Bay and crew don't care about the fans because the movies make money?
I haven't seen DOTM yet, but I must say, I am just as confused by the double talk as I was before seeing ROTF. You know, the usual fandom double talk of "They don't care what we fans think but if we fans don't support this we could lose it." I've yet to see a single positive review in the media, but I know the long term argument will be that this movie was zomg awesome because it made a lot of money so obviously people who don't agree are wrong becasue the movie will make a ton of money. If it's going to make bank because no one cares what fans think, then why should fans feel obligated to support it?
Honestly, I'm just asking. I'm probably going to see the movie Sunday, so it's not like I'm boycotting it or blustering about how it sucks when I haven't seen it, but I'm just confused by this 'logic.' It's just nonsensical to believe people will fall for both parts of this, that no one cares but we must be supportive. Bad or unsatisfactory products are not supported, and the preferred ones flourish as a result. As far as Transformers as a brand goes, it's survived for 30 years, and so if the movie makes less than a zillion dollars, it'll still have made more money than previous incarnations, so I'm not seeing the dire nature of not seeing it in the theater.

I think that optimus prime had more than one dramatic entrance.
1: beginning of movie when he showed off his iconic g1 trailer(that turned into a weaponry).
2: when he transforms and says"you lied to us!"
3: he shot down a decepticon and steps out of the smoke.(then he reloads his blaster and the shell bounces of the screen for the 3d effect)
4: he roars in with his jetpack and chopps up some decepticons- only to be tangled in WIRES? I was really dissapointed that he got caught up by something so trivial. Couldn't they have just stot him down? (off topic but I like how prime's jetpack wings acted like bird wings, like when he flew between buildings, they moved down/inward. And was the axe a tf animated nod? I thougt it was but it wasn't an ion axe.)

yes I am upset about Ironhide's death, and I have not seen the movie yet, just read it as a spoiler a few days ago. Ironhide is my favourite Character! I even have a Topkick exactly like the character's vehicle mode. Now I will feel odd getting into my Topkick when I know the character is dead.

Just got back from seeing the movie and I thought it was great! It was almost as good to me as the first movie and I felt like it brought me back some great childhood memories, with a more adult tone.
The visuals were great and the story was a lot more solid than ROTF and we got a little better characterization for some of the bots. The stupid humor seemed worse than the first but much better than ROTF. And I did laugh quite a bit, so it wasn't all bad.
Some problems were with the story/continuity as a whole, but I really don't know how they could have fixed that now, it's too late. Some problems I can think of on the spot:
Why didn't the Fallen join Megatron when he awoke?
In DOTM Megs says he was meeting Sentinel on Earth when it has already been established that he was chasing the Allspark.
Why didn't Sentinel and the Fallen have some backstory.
The Fallen really isn't that ancient compared to the rest of the Transformers, so his and the Seven Prime's downfall and the rise of Sentinel and the Transformers civilization must have occurred fairly close together.
What was the Fallen doing for like 30,000 years (probably being the worst Transformer ever that can't transform.)
Can the Matrix do anything besides be a power source?
I think ROTF's lack of a good solid/consistent story did most of the damage to the overall story, so I don't blame this movie. The only real probs with DOTM is not enough Transformer characterization ( I understand that you need a human story to appeal to the masses and there just isn't enough time), no speech for Ironhide, and the most serious problem is the major lack of Decepticon characterization/screen time. Shockwave got nothing; he should have been up there with Megs, Starscream, and Sentinel planning evil things. Starscream did better than the previous movies and was a BA (not as much as the first movie, but way more than ROTF), but was killed by Sam and didn’t get the chance to show his traitorous side (besides the small bit about being “sad” to see Megs weaken and damaged). And Megatron got like 10 minutes of screen time. The only part where I saw him be a beast was when he took down Sentinel. I wish he would have put up a fight before he died and I was irritated he was weakened. That’s about all my problems though.
Some things I would have liked to see instead include a one on one OP verses Shockwave, traitorous SS/ a death by Megs or an epic battle, Megatron at full power as he was in the first movie vs pissed off Optimus and/or Sentinel and getting an awesome death/ or the ending in the book. Oh and of course a bigger role in the plan for Shockwave, he was really cool, but it almost felt like I was watching movie one where it takes humans plus Optimus to take him down, like Megs.
The future, I’d like to see it continue! Unicron could revive Megs to Galvatron or just repair him, SS, SW, Shockwave, make Cyclonous etc. Bring in Ultra Magnus and revive IH. Maybe bring in Trypticon, Metroplex, Omega Supreme, or any of the massive amounts of characters. In particular a Galvatron and revived Starscream with some dynamic would be cool. I just want to see more!

SJ21 wrote:I enjoyed the movie. I saw the midnight release, so the capacity crowd was rockin. It was a great time with people reacting to the jokes and the action scenes. When they went to Chernobyl a little kid yelled "LASERBEAK!!!" when they showed the shot of Laserbeak haning in the dark.
I thought most of the plot points were obvious enough to figure out, even though they weren't directly explained.
I was confused and upset about Ironhide's death. I watch these movies to be entertained and I don't often question why things happen. This one really got me though. Sentinel shot Ironhide. Why did Ironhide disintegrate after being shot? They didn't mention Sentinel have some weapon that would do that. All the other bots survived unless their heads got destroyed. When you kill off a major character, you need to adress stuff like that. Hell, they zoomed in on Ironhide's head as he dissolved. There was also no mention of Ironhide through the rest of the movie. I haven't gotten this worked up about a movie death since Serpentor threw a snake through Duke's chest!
I loved the way they trashed Chicago. From the previews, I assumed that the 'Cons were going to Invade and the 'Bots and humans were trying to stop them. I thought they did a brillian thing with having the Cons take Chicago and the Bots having to try to get it back against impossible odds.
I don't like the inclsuion of Decepticon military vehicles. I would rather see the Cons doing the fighing using alt modes to fly around. Seriiously, you can fly. Why build a little attack ship to fly around in? I can see using a huge ship to transport lots of troops across space, but those little fighter ships seemed redundant.
Someone above mentioned the plot differences between the book and the movie. I checked out the comic adaptation yesterday. I hope that when they release the movie on DVD, they include the "directors cut" because I would love to see the twins get gacked and see the book ending where Megatron goes back to Cybertron. That seems like a more "Transformers" ending to me. I don't disagree with Prime killing Megatron, but they manner in which it was done leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
I thought the 3D work was the best I've ever seen. I thought it blew away the 3d from Avatar. Sure there were 3d gimmick moves during the movie, but that's going to happen in any 3d movie.
I will see this move 3 or 4 more times before it is out of theaters.
Ironhide dissolves? Now I know I wont like that part of the movie... He's my favourite character... Typical Bay, zooming in on Ironhide's head as he dissolves... Bay must not like Ironhide, as that is not right... Ironhide is a majour character, i concur w/u there, needs some explanation on why he was killed... so no reviving ever?

When jazz died they actually picked the guys pieces and tried to save him.. they're reaction to irons death ws like ...... (autobots)"we didnt see anything.."
yes I am upset about Ironhide's death, and I have not seen the movie yet, just read it as a spoiler a few days ago. Ironhide is my favourite Character! I even have a Topkick exactly like the character's vehicle mode. Now I will feel odd getting into my Topkick when I know the character is dead.hmmm? I even cried at the fact that Irohide is dead... I hope that I dont stand up in the theatre and scream NOOOOO!!!! When Ironhide is brutally killed...
What did Ironhide do to Bay to get him Killed? probably Bay didnt like him, hope they bring Ironhide back in TF4, Probably not
If you feel that way, then for your sake, I would not watch the first 10 minutes of the '86 movie if I were you.
Especially if you own a red Nissan Vanette.
