The art is official too.
So, having a SS86 leader Megatron that would look like this and transform like this is not a far-fetched idea.
There's no realistic way for that tank to become that Megatron. Where did the turret go? Where did his legs come from? What happened to the treads? Maybe a Masterpiece with lots of tiny folding panels could pull this off, but there's no chance of it being done at retail.

That's basically just the Earthrise tank with the Siege turret. It wouldn't look that clean, but a retool of those would be pretty close.

Isn't looking clean the whole point? He'd still have the front of the tank sticking out of his back hiding the treads in his legs wouldn't hide the the tank details. How do you take him from tank to gun detailed legs? It can be done by turning the legs inside out, but at that point you may as well start over from scratch. Sure wouldn't be a Voyager.

That's the whole point.
As a "voyager" sized Leader, he would have the parts needed to pull it off.

That was in response to AcademyofDrX saying it could be retooled from Voyager Earthrise Megatron.

Oh, no retool of any kind would work.
This leader G1 Tank-Megs should be a brand new mold, designed from scratch.

Or is him being a tank, but having an accurate robot mode enough?

What is the point of a gun mode that doesn't look like his on-screen equivalent?

Just to have a gun mode....

No, that's pointless. This isn't like a car, where you change the hood or the headlights to bypass a license, but it still looks similar. The hypothetical gun mode wouldn't be realistic at all. Arguably there could be a nerf gun, or a fake ray gun, or weird neon colors, but it's not going to look anything like his on-screen version, so it adds no value.

It’s not that I’m against a gun mode, even if it’s some wacky design per se, but if it’s an unofficial 3rd mode, then it’s not going to be that good anyway.
But I really hope Hastak either sees these conversations, and/or already has something in the works.
It’s 1 version of Megatron, and surely not the last…. So give us a screen accurate bot mode, despite a non-G1 alt mode….
And let’s be honest, for every person who ends up bitching that a Megatron with a tank alt mode should never be in SS86, there will be 9 people hunting for this figure high and low.
It’s still going to bring in decent $$$ for Hastak, so what’s there to lose?

And realistically, no one in their right mind is going to be taking either Shockwave or Megatron into a public area in the first f*ing place... These are toy collectible they're putting on a shelf for display in a home.
The only issue I see would be a kid doing such a thing, which kids bring all kinds of weaponry to public places all the time as it is. Thus it's up to the "Parent" to either not buy such a toy for them if it goes against their beliefs, or to instruct said child it should not ever be taken to School. Sometimes I feel all sense of responsibility and discipline has been removed from parenting if these are actual items of concern....

I'm sorry you're not going to get a gun Megatron, maybe if you cry harder Hasbro will change their mind about putting kids at risk.

There's nothing you need to say, I don't need help. I'm clearly aware of the risks regarding toy guns and they have nothing to do with the toys themselves. They have to do with lack of proper parenting and incompetent law enforcement individuals.AcademyofDrX wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:AcademyofDrX wrote:Till-all-R1 wrote:...

If your conclusion from my post is that I think "toys are the problem," nothing I'm going to say is going to help you.
Just because you don't care to discuss a certain subject doesn't mean others aren't allowed to. (So far.)In my opinion, there's plenty of evidence that gun Megatron is over. All the political rants in the world aren't going to change that, so everyone should get over it and move on. I'm not sure what any of that has to do with SS86 at this point.
Emerje wrote:Maybe if you cross your fingers really tightly Takara Tomy will make a Voyager sized Megatron one day that turns into a gun. They still make gun Megatrons over there because guns are so rare that it's simply unfathomable that a child would have access to one.
