Anyways, if I got it correctly, the "mook" has a coupon and you need to mail it (domestically) within a deadline and they ship it to you. Scalpers are gonna make a killing unless there's a set for the Asian market.

Getting a lot of updated Triggerbots/cons lately.

BBTS, TFSource, and the like eventually put up pre-orders for these, if I recall correctly. I think they have a way of buying the books and sending in for the freebies through some kind of middle man. Yes, it drives up the price, but it's a way to get the otherwise impossible. I know I've gotten at least one Million Publishing exclusive through an online retailor in the past: Shouki. I'm pretty sure I've seen others such as Artfire, Stepper, and Infiltrator Starscream available through similar channels over the past few years. I've not seen this "TAV VS SP" set listed yet, though, which is a pity. I really want Dogfight, just because, and it would be nice to have a little Runamuck to got with his buddy little Runabout.

I mean, it was hard enough to get Viper here without paying inflated prices (bbts, tfsource, etc), I can't imagine what it must be like to try importing Viper to Japan - assuming they care enough about him to want him...

Except that it is not Viper. It is Dogfight and just uses the Viper retool of the mold. Also Takara didn't make a conscience decision to make this figure a Million Publishing exclusive. Just like FunPub does with Hasbro, Million came up with the idea, presented it to Takara and they approved it. Takara may still use the head later down the road.

Well, I mean, its viper to them like zombie breakdown is offroad to them; but you're right, they could use it in the legends line - despite none of the other new legends being listed in it yet

The bigger issue is making fans buy the magazine to get Runabout's other half and one of Override's partners or making kids buy the magazine they probably don't want to get two figures for the kid's line. Yes and no. I'm not sure how the magazine dating works in Nippon but the mook itself was scheduled t obe released or solicited last Nov 2015. So once you received it you must clip the coupon and mail it ASAP before a certain cutoff. Pray your mail makes it before it. I think you also pay for shipping depending how far the Prefecture you live in.

meh, not bad; the popularity of the figures + small production run, I get it; if hasbro/funpub did a mail-away for figures, I bet it would be a big thing (I know tfss, but this is cheaper and a one-shot)

It's not really THAT wacky that Million Publishing is doing a Transformers Adventure exclusive this time. Yes, TAV is ostensibly a line aimed at younger fans, but adults will collect it too, either out of interest in the new characters and fiction, or because Takara crammed in a bunch of "Classics" releases in there as well (Powerglide, Cosmos, Override, Shrapnel, Bombshell, Runabout, etc.). Kids might be interested in this exclusive, but why should they be? They have no idea who Dogfight or Runamuck are. They're not "must have" characters or even featured on the current cartoon. Only older fans will understand who they are and want them for the sake of "completion." Takara and Million Publishing are NOT sticking it to kids with this box set.

Really? When I was a kid, and I saw anything advertising a giveaway of tf's I'd be gunnin' for them irregardless of who they were
