Wasn't until you mentioned that i looked at the wheels and gosh you are right: They do seem rather small

Yeah, he wouldn't have any ground clearance, and it ruins the look of it.

I think I'm missing something, what gimmick does this guy have? I do agree with what you're saying but I wasn't aware of any gimmick.

The Matrix holding compartiment hidden in the chest, which sparked a overly long and nerdy discution about G1 fiction that lasted for pages.

Oh okay, I guess I just didn't really see that as a gimmick, but instead more of an Easter egg.

It's just that the space used for that could have been used for a better overall design.
Anyway, Shockwave took all my pre-order budjet so I'll have to pass on Roddy.

Eh, true, but still not completely terrible though

It's more the fact that I already preordered Ironhide and I have little interest in Roddy. Also, Shocky and Roddy may come out at the same time so it's more a matter of "for spring" than "for a year".
Also, there's not JUST MP Transformers that I collect. There's the mainline Transformers, some video games, other random toys.
Finally there those things called "food", "rent", "bus fare", and "bills", that kinda get in the way of buying every single plastic crap that come out.

I'm just happy I was able to contribute! TF:TM and More Than Meets the Eye/The Ultimate Doom are the things I rematch the most from G1 or any TF universe. Also, pre-ordered him today, after finally pre-ordering Ironhide and Shockwave last night.william-james88 wrote:I loved that discussion right away and totally recomend younger fans to get into the older stuff, as I did, just to see the rich history of this wonderful property.Rodimus Prime wrote:You young whippersnappers should use these opportunities to broaden your Transformers knowledge.-Kanrabat- wrote:The Matrix holding compartment hidden in the chest, which sparked a overly long and nerdy discussion about G1 fiction that lasted for pages.

It is not.
It's a well-established fact in the cartoon continuity that Alpha Trion created Optimus Prime.
the point is that you are only assuming that optimus was aa prime before getting the matrixThe point is that Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus were already Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus before they possessed the Matrix. They were already big and strong, so they didn't need an upgrade like Hot Rod.

thats actually debatable.

I am right there with you Cyberpath, I dont get how this can be debatable. It was in every version of fiction surrounding Optimus Prime. Sto_vo_kor_2000, I am glad you are here with us taking part in this conversation but simply rejecting arguments with false throw away responses like "that's actually debatable" kinda lessens everything else you present.

Sabrblade wrote:I think Sto is referring to the claim that Orion Pax was rebuilt by Alpha Trion without the Matrix at all is what's debatable. A portion of the fandom suspects that the "something" Alpha Trion said he had that could help Orion when Alpha Trion rebuilt him was the Matrix. Whether Alpha Trion used the Matrix as an element in Prime's reconstruction or if he gave Optimus the Matrix after the reconstruction was finished is the debatable part.

In the cartoon continuity there was no such thing as "a Prime."
"Optimus Prime" (Best of the Best) was his name, not rank.
good theroyWhen Hot Rod took his mantle he was renamed after Optimus Prime to homage the fallen leader. ("Rod" from Hot Rod, "imus Prime" from OP.)
Re the visual chart, the fact remains that when Ultra Magnus had the Matrix he was unchanged in name or appearance. Likewise when Optimus Prime got it back.
He is Optimus Prime with and without the Matrix.
OP & UM were built big and strong. They were built to be leaders/commanders. Hot Rod was built as one of the Autobot cars (like Sideswipe, Prowl, etc) so he was changed by the Matrix.
Whenever Rodimus Prime loses the Matrix he shrinks down to Hot Rod. When OP & UP have it or not, they remain the same. Because that's who they "truly" are.
thanks for proving my point
