That reminds me, we still haven't heard news on who Gregg Berger's playing, have we?

If Grimwing retains his toy/Tales of Beast Hunters characterization, I'd lay odds on Gregg Berger playing him.

Well, it's over (for the first season, at least). The final season 1 episode to air on Vortexx, episode 22, aired this morning. It had... too many teeny tiny edits to keep track of, so I'll just lump them together as a more workable count of nine.

1. In the flashback of the Autobots' previous battles with the Decepticons, the shot of a Vehicon punching/slashing Cliffjumper hard enough to knock one of his horns off (from episode 1) had the first instant of the Vehicon making physical contact with Cliff's torso covered by a flash of white light.

And now I feel compelled to go back and check to see if this same edit was also made to this scene in episode 1 as well, but at this time, I am unable to do so.

2.When Ratchet drove down the side of a mountain in Vehicle Mode to ram right into the face of a Jet Vehicon, the exact moment of impact his ambulance form made with the Jet Vehicon was covered by a flash of white light.

3. Right after Ratchet threatened the Vehicon miner with his blowtorch and said "I won't ask you a second time. Where. Is. Megatron?", a few frames of him still holding up his blowtorch were cut out. We still see him holding the blowtorch onscreen before then, just for a split-second or two shorter than in the uncut version.

4. Right after the above cut, a distant shot of Bulkhead just slapping aside a Jet Vehicon with his wrecking ball had its moment of impact, you guessed it, covered by a flash of white light.

5. Right after the above edit, in the uncut version, we heard a distant cry of "No! NO! NOOOOOOOO!!!" coming from the tortured Vehicon miner off screen, which caught Optimus' attention. Originally, Optimus raised his head after hearing the second "NO!" and then looked upward while hearing the third "NOOOOOOOO!!!". In the edited version, the scream was played a little earlier, with Optimus instead raising his head after hearing the first "No!" and then looking upward while hearing the second "NO!", with the third "NOOOOOOOO!!!" being cut out altogether.

6. And here it is, the infamous torture scene. In the uncut version, when Optimus, Bulkhead, and Arcee climbed up the mountain and looked on in horror once they reached the top, we heard the miner say "That's all I know! Really!" to Ratchet off screen. We then saw Ratchet using his blowtorch on the agonized miner. Ratchet then stopped torching the miner, who then groaned in pain as we saw a close up of his sparkling head. The camera then faced Ratchet from the front, who, while still kneeling over the fallen miner, said "Now, was that so difficult?", and then retracted his blowtorch and deployed his sword. Ratchet swung back his sword in preparation to strike the miner, but Optimus intervened, running up to Ratchet from the side, yelling "Ratchet!" and catching the sword mid-swing. "What are you doing?" Optimus asked, grimly. Optimus let go of Ratchet, who retracted his sword and, while answering Optimus with "Getting results," stood up to face Optimus. At this point, the miner took this opportunity to get out of there ASAP.

In the edited version,
  • The miner's cry of "Really!" was muted.
  • The bit of Ratchet using his torch on the miner was cut, leaving in only the bit of Ratchet after he stopped using the torch.
  • The miner groaning and the close up of its sparkling face was cut.
  • Immediately after Ratchet asked, "Now, was that so difficult?", a close up shot of Optimus from another point in the episode was inserted right then and there, with the shot of Ratchet retracting his blowtorch following it. During this newly-inserted video of Optimus, the audio of Optimus saying "Ratchet! What" played, with "are you doing?" subsequently playing over the footage of Ratchet retracting in blowtorch, thus slightly relocating Optimus' "Ratchet! What are you doing?" line.
  • The bits of Ratchet deploying his sword, swinging it backward, Optimus catching it,Optimus asking Ratchet what he's doing, and Optimus then letting go of the sword right before Ratchet gets up were all cut, thus necessitating the aforementioned insertion of Optimus' "Ratchet! What are you doing?"
The scene renewed properly as Ratchet got up to say "Getting results," while the miner hightailed it out of there.

7. Okay, not only was the exact moment of impact of Ratchet's sucker punching Megatron in the face covered by (what else?) a flash of white light, but the slow motion view of the punch, which held in place for a second or two right after the punch's point of impact, was cut, going straight from the censored point of impact to the first moment after the backwards-falling Megatron loses the physical contact his face had just had with Ratchet's fist.

8. The impact of Ratchet headbutting Knock Out was given the ol' white flash censor treatment.

9. The new commercial break played immediately after Ratchet picked up the dropped container of Synthetic Energon and turned his head back to look at Knock Out (whose arm saw was stuck embedded in the cave wall). When the break ended, the shot of Ratchet about to look at Knock Out was reversed, with him now instead turning his head from Knock Out's direction toward the Synth En container, as a means to help transition back into the show, just before Knock Out laughs and says, "What are you going to do, drink it?"

And next week, it's back-to-back episodes of Justice League Unlimited. So, what, no TF: Prime? Is this the end of its run on Vortexx? But I need to redo my comparison of episode 2 (I lost my old recording of it). And what about season 2? Come on!

Man, I wonder why they even put the series on if they're going to make so many stupid edits? And they're cutting the end of the season? I guess they realized that if they'd edit those four last episodes the same way they'd have only about five-minute-episodes left.

They already aired those last four episodes.

Sure sounds like vortexx likes to butcher good cartoons. Any other cartoons they have butchered? Also i would like to know who wrote the rules saying that cartoons have to be 65 episodes? This series could of kept on going for at least one more season.

It's because the CW is a terrestrial television network, which has stricter business standards and practices. Cable networks like the Hub can get away with more things since they have less strict BSnP. Prime is a show that was made with cable broadcasting in mind, thus its content was not up to the standards of terrestrial television as it was.

Recall that G1, Beast Wars, Beast Machines, and RiD were all first aired on terrestrial television and thus were made with that level of BSnP in mind. Ever since Armada, TF cartoons have been cable-only. Prime's airing on the CW's Vortexx block is the first time a TF cartoon has aired on a terrestrial network in over a decade (the last being RiD in 2002). There's simply no way that they could have gotten away with airing Prime on the CW without any censorship (save for episodes 14 and 15, which were both startlingly aired with no edits beyond their new commercial breaks).

That isn't to say I approve of the edits. I just understand why they were made (most of them, at least).

Though, as for other cartoon examples Vortexx has edited, there's Justice League Unlimited and Dragon Ball Z Kai (both of which were also made for cable television).

TheBossII wrote:Also i would like to know who wrote the rules saying that cartoons have to be 65 episodes? This series could of kept on going for at least one more season.
65 five is the magic number for syndicated television. It enables shows to be aired for 13 weeks before rotation, and provides flexibility in the program scheduling.

However, this is mostly how things used to be, since nowadays it's become increasingly more and more difficult for cartoons even dream of reaching 65 episodes, what with the decline of syndicated television, networks ordering fewer and fewer amounts of episodes and airing them less and less because of the greater fragmentation of television leading to much smaller viewership (and thus lower ad revenue), and the sorry state of the economy leaving less money for folks to make more episodes.

I'm just glad it lasted this long. This is the second longest TF animated series after Sunbow's G1, right?

Animated: 42
Galaxy Force: 52
Energon: 51
Armada: 52
RiD: 39
Beast Wars Neo: 35
Beast Wars Second: 43
Beast Machines: 28
Beast Wars: 52
Victory: 44
Master Force: 42
Headmasters: 35
Transformers G1: 98

I'm sure I forgot a series somewhere, but the point remains. I think it could have continued, but I am also glad they are given it 65 and not 35.

Rescue Bots. Thus far, it's had a whopping 26 episodes in its first season. Season 2 just finished its production, so that'll be another 26 to make 52. No word yet on a third season. ;)

The Go-Bots TF cartoon also only had a measly four episodes.

Although, in your episode count did you also include all the direct-to-video episodes and/or tv specials, or no? I ask cuz some of the Japanese series got a few.

Damn. I knew I'd forget one (or two, although I never would have remembered the Go-Bots cartoon.) I am not counting the direct to video or TV specials, just the main series' episodes.

Well, in Energon's case, it had a TV special in Japan that was treated as an ordinary episode in its American release.

And G1, The Headmasters Masterforce, and Victory all had additional direct-to-video episodes in Japan that are counted as part of their official episode counts. ;)

Oh, and there's also the single episode of the Zone cartoon, but that was a home video release and never aired on TV. Same with RobotMasters' two episodes.

'BROMANCE' EPISODE (I forget the name) plus thoughts on 'DARK ENERGON RETURNS' EPISODE (I forget the name) coming up this Weekend:

OVERALL: Greatly appreciated the application of the Human element. Since so many fans have challenged that Humans should be ignorable in the background or dropped altogether, I have to say: Writers: You accepted the challenge and did something very easy to watch and appreciate. Well done, EVEN THO the looking at various aspects of a topic through multiple characters going through a variation of it at the same time is still Textbook, so you still don't deserve applause for character development justified by two years of roundabout backstory raped from decades of established raw material. Still, i ENJOYED WHAT YOU OFFERED.

STARSCREAM: Return of the Gimp. You (Writers) spent so much effort and energy setting up his tale at the end of last season, now his Comic relief again. What a waste!
Furthermore it's not even his fault anymore: Megatron is the incompetent nincompoop who keeps leaving the Predacon on the deck. Shockwave is one of those Pitbull owners who leaves his pet with anyone. Right now, I'm expecting Starscream to lose it and shoot/stab/execute Megz in the back at the final battle of this show.

KNOCKOUT: Bromance, romance, flirting and a Gaylord.
"I find the idea of you fleshlings interfacing to be repulsive...base, this is Knockout requesting pickup..."

First fight was below meh. Chase fight with Insecticons tailing was way cool. LOVED the jumping Autobots.

PREDAKING: Yeah, right, Encino bot knows Cybertronian Windows now.
I'm waiting to see how the Predacon chronology ties into the Unicron chronology.Dark Eneron at the middle of this season kinda hints at the Unicron arc...

...am curious to see who unleashes the Dark Energon plague next weekend. Partially suspect the Predacons....but don't anticipate them cuz I don't know how far they/Predaking can get into the narrower hallways of the ship (where I assume the zombies are/will be).

Anyway, the series (Beast Hunters) is watchable. Hope you carry on with more seasons.

Oh, by the way, that's right: as others have stated, WHERE IS THE BEAST HUNTING?
"Everyone has a hobby.Even people who say they don't still have one under another name.If we're sick, injured, we still go to it and get down to see how it is.If it needs something, we bring it,make sure the attention is perfect. It exercises our care and protection and gives us back philosophies. It's a living thing to us,and is the most perfect way to teach a young person how to be towards a living thing. It's something that should never be taken away."

He's always been comic relief. Just because he bumbles a few times doesn't means he's 100% incompetent. Even Waspinator managed a few successes in his day.

Megs obviously put Screamer in charge of the beast to test him. If Starscream fails to master the beast, he can still count on Predaking. If Starscream does succeed in mastering the beast, then so much the better. Either way, Megs wins.

G1 Smoketreader wrote:PREDAKING: Yeah, right, Encino bot knows Cybertronian Windows now.
The Pred's obviously been faking his lack of intelligence all this time. Ever since he first stirred in agitation at Starscream calling him a "mindless mute beast" back in episode 55.

Simple. Earth was created when it formed around Unicron, and then later a bunch of Pred clones were sent to the planet during Earth's prehistoric times.

This is the final season.

Right here. All these missions of going after Predacon bone relics. That's what they mean by "beast hunting". They're "hunting" the fossilized remains of "beasts".

I would have rather them have been heralds of Unicron that he created from shortly after the battle with the 13 to avenge him. But that's just my 2 cents.

Actualy, arent Predaking doing is more prove of Consciousness than inteligence itself?

New expisodes just annouced brings so many questions, did Breakdown can have some greater role in this seazon (he could escape from Nemesis, and leater it can be revealed he is under Unicron control, also he could reactivate Nemesis)?, and did we get another episode without Autobots (this time maybe even completly)? And did Megatron get his upregade? I wonder...

I already know this seazon is not long enough, I can only hope they gona make a movie:)

Will the movie occur after episode 13? Meaning they won't combine the last handful of episodes and call it a movie.

Well, I still prefer to remain sceptic about that, however it would be released, I watch it for sure.

Did I mention that Predaking is awesome?

With so many predictable answers

did Breakdown can have some greater role in this seazon (he could escape from Nemesis, and leater it can be revealed he is under Unicron control, also he could reactivate Nemesis)?,

They're most likely doing another Cliffjumper with him.

And did Megatron get his upregade?

Why does he need it? He's neither trying to hide nor critically injured, and there's nothing that could provide him with an upgrade.

And maybe a way to see new predacons such as Ser-ket, Rip-claw, Lazerback, etc.

No ones really sure (except the hub).
According to the "reports" it'll be a 90 minute movie. No other info is known right now.

So out of curiosity are they looking like wrapping up Rescue bots as well?
If so this 'aligned continuity family' might be over and done with by the end of this year.
That's about seven years sooner than I expected. :-$
