Why does everyone think that Darth Plagueis has anything to do with anything? He was killed years before any of the movies ever started.
According to Sidious, Plagueis was powerful enough that he could use the Force to influence the midi-chlorians to create life and keep those he cared about from dying
so maybe he brought himself back to life somehow?
but.............if not Plagueis.........then Darth Bane!
hey! it's science fiction fantasy after all!
Why can't Snoke be his own entity?

first of all....Thanks for ruining the possible identity of that character for people that have yet to see the movie! by not using Spoiler Tags! as you can see i was avoiding using the name of the character in The Force Awakens.....so i didn't have to use spoiler tags.
hey i'm not setting it in stone that it's Plagueis or even Bane! it could very well turn out to be an original character! but the possibilities are there...if the writers did choose to make him Plagueis.

The name of a character isn't a damn spoiler. Snoke has been confirmed as a character for months.

Sly is right, I think it's been over a year since Andy Serkis confirmed he was playing Snoake via momo-cap, something Serkis is now legendary for.
Also I never said plagusis wasn't Canon just that all his abilities and back stories wasn't anymore and that he was said to be dead. I'm more concerned about how you seem to be convinced this is the case. I myself am leaning towards Snoake being completely new and that we'll find out his past in the next two episodes. Which is just as good as your theory at the moment
I will apologise if I've come across a bit antagonistic, as it wasn't my intent.

aye your fine pal
but believe me....you just couldn't comprehend of how many people are actually buying into the idea that that is Plaguesis! after seeing the film! it's astronomical!
but each to their own
but at the end of the day i will say this.....as i stated previously....i am NOT setting it in stone.....that it's Plagueis.....it's merely just pure speculation! & should be taken as such.
it's just a pity we've got to wait til a year & a half for episode 8 to come out! or longer til episode 9! to get official information.
btw does anyone know how long the spoiler tags will be up for? coz i know the film has a 5 week cinematic run(maybe more)

We were gonna go with 7 days, but maybe we should make it 10, just to include the 2nd weekend of release in case some people are holding off until then to see it. So unless Burn says otherwise, we stop using the spoiler tags on Monday, December 28th, as shown by the message board. Not everyone starts Monday locally at the same time. And I saw the film again yesterday, and I must say I enjoyed it more the 2nd time. Once I got past the facts that
Luke wasn't gonna show up and Finn and Ren were horrible characters
I could focus on the rest of the movie and it was actually pretty decent. Still doesn't rate high among the SW films for me, but it's better than my 1st impression.

I'm okay to leave them on until after the second weekend. Yes, there are people who haven't seen it yet, Va'al is one of them (but he's been smart and avoided the thread)

Yeah, but it's Va'al. I mean, Va'al. C'mon.
And considering Han was pretty much the main character (while introducing Ren and Rey) can this be called a sort-of Han Solo movie?
Rey and Finn were the main focus, each with their own issues. Though speaking of Han
rumour has it that he was killed off as he only wanted to do one more movie...and of course the rumour that he only did this one for one more indy movie

no! Han was killed off because Harrison Ford originally wanted the character to be killed off by the end of Return Of The Jedi! but of course thanks to Lucas.....that didn't happen!(which is strange? since Lucas wasn't planning on any sequels....after Jedi) so i guess JJ granted Ford his wish
Where did you get that? Last I heard Lucas had planned 9 episodes in 3 trilogies, even before he ever shot A New Hope. He got to make 6 of the 9. I know he has nothing to do with TFA, but I would think the screenwriters for TFA at least looked at Lucas's version.

i'm sure i read or heard that a while ago! but clearly i stand corrected! although.........those never came to fruition!
but i'm sure i'm correct about the Han bit.
btw it's a bit strange that episode 8 is coming out during the year(May 26, 2017) which means it could come up against stiffer competition with whatever big blockbuster movies happen to be out around about that time(if any! & no! i don't have a list of what ones are out then). unlike TFA which hasn't much in the way of stiff competition with the Chipmunks movie & Sisters.

They don't have to follow it exactly, but they had to use it as an outline.
For instance: In Lucas's original ideas for Episode 7, he had
Luke acting as a bit of an Obi-Wan character and passing the mantle of the Jedi to a new character. And if you've seen the end of Episode 7, it seems to be the direction they're headed.
For me, so far it's
1. ESB
2. -3. tie: ANH; RoTJ
4. RoTS
5.-6. tie: TFA; AoTC
7. TPM
story wise. Action wise, IMO nothing beats the fights between Yoda and Palpatine, and Obi-Wan and Vader. The pod race and the final fight in TPM do come close, followed by Yoda vs. Dooku in AoTC.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (Use Spoiler Tags)
I was amused - I was using the analogy of why Star Wars shouldn't be to campy by offering the example of : Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor as a bad example of that.
Then on a whim I looked up the reviews on Amazon - and found to my utter shock some people think that gosh awful mess is a top 5 Star Wars Novel !
And here was me thinking The Force Awakens was a little controversial - to think that Novel Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor is top 5 in quality is borderline insane to me.
The only way some might like it that I can rationalize if if they really buy into the novel's conceit. But that isn't the only issue and it doesn't change that the villain feels like one taken out of an old Cinema serials of the 1950's (but in a bad way - not even in a gentle parody way like Captain Proton on Star Trek Voyager does).
----
Anyway as to the level of Enjoyment after one viewing (I may watch it again shortly) :
Top to bottom :
1) Empire
2) Star Wars
3) Revenge of the Sith
4) Return of the Jedi
5) The Force Awakens
6) The Phantom Menace
7) The Clone Wars Movie
8 ) Attack of the Clones
9) The Ewok Movies - (they are so bad they almost make the Holiday Special look good).
More Youtubers should do vids on the Ewok Movies - they need a good kicking and they rarely get one.

2) Star Wars
3) Revenge of the Sith
4) Return of the Jedi
5) The Force Awakens
6) The Phantom Menace
7) The Clone Wars Movie
8 ) Attack of the Clones
9) The Ewok Movies - (they are so bad they almost make the Holiday Special look good).
