I got TFC Perseus for exactly this reason. My line-up is; Hauler, Neutro, Groundpounder, Landfill, Quickmix and Scoop.RiddlerJ wrote:I wonder if they can get an Autobot combiner out of him? Scoop, Quickmix, Landfill, Erector, Um, um, Neutro and Crumble?
Agreed. The only reason TFC's is staying with my Classics Autobots is size. If CW Superion was a couple of inches taller he'd be my default without hesitation.xyl360 wrote:Oddly enough, I have Uranos, and aside from a few minor quibbles, I think Has/Tak's Superion is actually better than TFC's offering.

My only real gripe is the purple treads- I'm sure they're done for vehicle or individual robot mode purposes but personally I'd say those can be sacrificed somewhat to keep the combined mode looking that bit more unified.
Whether I can actually drop the cash on this is another matter entirely, I might be swayed if the individual figures look good...

It's still competing with their products among people that want a Devastator, and I think being 50-75% cheaper and colossal in height is going to win out over some reduced articulation with a good chunk of people. Especially people that haven't already bought one of the previous two.
Considering 95% of all people that were going to buy Herc or Giant have already done so, this isn't really competing with them. Most the people that haven't bought Herc or Giant by now probably weren't going to anyhow.
Yup, no competition. I have been a happy owner of Herc for a while now and plan to keep it and get the official version.

Sorry I took so long to respond. I was enjoying a beer. The KO upsized Abominus is an awesome figure in its own right and well worth the $19.99 plus shipping I paid for it. That doesn’t mean he is without his flaws. But still an awesome figure that displays what Hasbro could have and should have done.

Pros:
*Deluxe scale figures – legends scale sucks
*Scales great with 3rd party combiners
*Awesome Takara color scheme (It’s not G1 Abominus so why even be his colors ?)
Cons:
*Simplified Hun-Grr (only Abominus head, No Hun-Grr head)
*A little loose (what KO isn’t)
*Blot is orange (original red plastic was deemed brittle by factory, was re-cast in orange)
I would love to see this company do Hasbrostator justice in the proper 12-13 inch classics height. Ill buy it in a heartbeat.

That's debatable. Nobody disagrees that Hasbrostator's left foot is indeed an eyesore. The rest is pretty solid with a few minor nitpicks. Im not crazy about Hasbrostator's treads pointing down looking like armpit tumors. And then theres the not so desirable scale that makes Hasbrostator a stand alone figure. That alone might not appeal to people who care about scale harmony. After all, Bruticus did kick Devastator's ass in the G1 cartoon. I own both Hercules and Giant. I may buy Hasbrostator for pure curiousity but he definitely isnt the best rendition of the character in my opinion. My taste is Hercules.

As we all know, scale in Transformers is nothing if not completely arbitrary.

Sure, if you've got around US$500 to burn.
As for the new Devi I'm really loving it! People say they're simplified, but I'm seeing a lot of moving parts, I'm not sure just how simplified they really are. What's really intriguing me is what's in between the tracks on Scavenger and Bonecrusher. They don't look to be part of those two, I think they're part of Longhaul and the arms connect by fitting the tracks around them. That would mean Hook isn't necessary for combining, he could be swapped out with, you know, Prowl without effecting the transformation. Both legs connect with the same joint so replacing Scrapper with Hook could be possible. If you look under Hook's crane you'll see a big square gap (where his head would be on the G1 figure) that looks roughly the same size and shape as the gaps where Longhaul plugs into Scrapper and Mixmaster.
Wishful thinking lives on.
Is it just me or does that look like purple chrome similar to Jetfire's red chrome? Not sure how I feel about that.

theres a lot to be said about personal scale though. some people have a vision of how they want their display to look, and hey im no different. but, lack of a spot in my "grand design" that wont stop me from getting CW devy. That Bot wrote:As we all know, scale in Transformers is nothing if not completely arbitrary.Rated X wrote:And then theres the not so desirable scale that makes Hasbrostator a stand alone figure. So, Prowl isn't in this set and Mixmaster just looks ridiculous, not to mention that Dev's head looks too small for the rest of his build. Yeah, it's a sharp looking toy and if i can get one for my son then I will certainly do so but I think that for myself I'll just stick with my G1 Devastator. He's easier to fit on my display shelf anyways.

Thats on my mind now. When it gets "officially" revealed, will we see anything new ? Or will it be the same fat guy in the suit putting the same prototype in the same goofy pose ? Remember we were never supposed to see these pics. If its the only prototype hasbro has on hand, then that means we wont be seeing any individual robot or alt modes in two weeks. Im also wondering how simplified will they be ? Beast hunter abominus simplified ? One step changer simplified ? Will they have no elbow articulation ? No knee articulation ? Any time the term "simplified" is used, I become very weary.

As a fair weather fan, I didn't even really notice anything wrong with the foot until I tracked down some G1 pictures... I'll agree it looks a LITTLE small... but HARDLY a deal-breaker for me.
I have a feeling it was shrunk to look better as vehicle or robot.. But honestly, this is EXACTLY what I was hoping it would look like when I heard 'metroplex sized devastator'...
My opinion is pretty meh when it comes to all the other combiners. I really felt the franchise when combiner crazy toward the end there. It took all the uniqueness out of the concept. I REALLY want a Devastator because he was the first and scariest of them... but I REALLY don't care about the rest.
Maybe superion just because he was the autobot's answer to devastator... but all the rest? Not likely to buy... so for me 'bigger is better' This guy should look pretty awesome towering over the masterpiece/classic figures I have... and if I need someone to fight him... I don't know... maybe my Mattel Voltron?? He's the only other combiner I truly liked...
I'd have been very disappointed if they'd shrunk him down just to fit in with the CW figures...
