Wasn't it ruined already with the advent of MP, Ultra, Leader scales?
Big for nothing figures didnt ruin transformers. They just made it a bit silly.
Size does have the advantage of adding features which can not be implemented in certain scale ranges. Just as some size and battery operated gimmicks don't translate as win like Micron Legends Convoy. Just as Titanium for the sake of die-cast resulted in ill fitting highly unbalanced figures. Just as adding a new figure/character to a well established combiner team don't necessarily instill the old nostalgia from the originals.
Given that logic, the toy line is indeed doomed to failure and we have the 3rd party as the only viable "Transformer" alternative.
That or it's just your opinion as the franchise is going strong. It can absorb the loss of one customer or two who have shifted to the 3rd parties.
Anyways guys, aren't we far to ahead at wishing for Bruticus already? Give Hasbro/Tomy's engineers a little bit of breathing space first.
Back to the A/B mold. If this would serve as a retool for Vortex, I'd wish the end result would be more of the original Kaman Aerospace SH-2 Seasprite helicopter than what Floro Dery designed in the show. The latter just appeared weird imho. Then again, a lot of the animation design for defensor/Hostspot and Bruticus/Combaticons did not reflect the actual appearance of the toys themselves.
