Slightly different colors? Black trailer? Backpack with guns?
I could do with that.
Something like this would make me consider buying that figure

Well, they wouldn't necessarily change the blue and red used.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:I'm hoping for a G2 version of ER Optimus. That would be cool.

But yeah, the black trailer with the red decals, the air conditioner/backpack with the cannons if possible... Mmm.
I'd also love to see a G2 redeco of Apex Optimus/God Ginrai, but they're unlikely to do that.

A look at the whole map, and confirmation of 4 waves.....I wonder with all shows and conventions being cancelled for the forseeable future, how Hasbro will reveal toys later in this line?

That is a good point, but also, how complex does OP's trailer really need to be? I think they hit all the necessary benchmarks with the Earthrise one. And I know a lot of peeps where sad there wasn't a roller but if that's what it takes to make the trailer package "complete" then we've got it pretty good

Think scaled down new mp optimus trailer or even the G1 trailer and then it will hit the benchmarks but with titan master compatability. There were no benchmarks hit with the earthrise one, maybe the drone being removable (tho it's not as positional on the trailer) and the shield that impacts how the trailer door opens was kind of a fail too.
*the only credit I can give it is the compatability for studio series figures.

Yeah, there was a lot they could have done with it, but they went extra simple. There's no real comparison between ER Prime's trailer and Siege Magnus or Galaxy Upgrade Prime's trailers. Yeah, the main bots aren't really comparable in complexity, but Hasbro already made up for that by cutting costs through parts sharing. I have a really hard time believing it cost as much to make ER Prime as Siege Ultra Magnus as a whole package.

Has anyone compared SIEGE Magnus' armor with ER Optimus' trailer on a scale yet?
Something else to consider is that SIEGE Ultra Magnus has both a simpler cab robot than ER Optimus and a moldmate to shoulder the cost burden with. ER Optimus, as far as we know, doesn't have that.
A lot of what they could have done with ER Optimus' trailer would have pushed him into Commander class, I think. Especially Titan/Prime Master compatible versions of the G1 toy's control stations, just from the extra size needed to make it work smoothly.

I really doubt it'd need to go up to Commander for that. A couple changes to the Prime figure itself would probably be enough to allow for that. But, considering how good the Prime figure is, I'd say they made the right decision, though I fully admit that I haven't gotten the figure, and only plan to get it if it's at a discount.

Dunno, a trailer that fits deluxes would have been a better start, then a roller. With apeface/snapdragon/jetfire and other potential headmasters popping up during the trilogy the titan masters aren't forgotten yet (hopefully).

I can think of at least four reasons why that doesn't hold water. One is purple, pearl, and black, one is white, purple, and teal, one is white, red, and less important than the other three but really big, and one is green, purple, and gray and also really really big in both size and importance.Rodimus Prime wrote:Forget a platform for a Titan master. Those were for previous lines.
That nevertheless still has play interoperability with the last one.Rodimus Prime wrote:This is a new trilogy.
Who would have done what aside from being a 5mm port on wheels? That's the problem with Roller in the context of Transformers, sadly. He's a cute little rolling drone, but...Rodimus Prime wrote:If ER Prime had anything added, it should have been a Roller.
Now, if they'd done ER Optimus to where his trailer had Titan/Prime Master seats where the G1 toy had Dianaut seats that would give Roller some more play value. I brought up a TM-compatible Roller in the expansion to my last post, actually.
Now, while I don't think it would have allowed for big stuff like the Titan/Prime Master compatibility or an enlarged trailer or even a basic Roller... I do think that there would have been room to make the trailer just a little fancier or throw in one or two more accessories if they had simplified Optimus himself.
And you know what? I personally would have been fine with them simplifying Optimus. Throw out the faux-grille nonsense, stop trying to work in the Dery Diaper in any capacity and just have the real undistorted front bumper on a hinge, stop trying to tuck the front wheels away and just have them at his hips on hinged struts like Cybertron and ROTF Optimus did... I think that would have made for a better figure.

Thing is, Battle Masters and even Micromasters are too big for remakes of the Dianaut seats from the G1 Optimus trailer and G1 Roller - which is what we're talking about when we say Titan Master functionality - to be practical.Rodimus Prime wrote:I wasn't trying to say there couldn't be titan masters, but they definitely shouldn't be a line-wide gimmick. That's what the battle masters are for, isn't it?
Not everyone would agree with that. He carried the other Autobots in his trailer on occasion in the cartoon too, I think at least as often as Roller was used, and play-wise Roller wouldn't do too much on his own unless he was big.Rodimus Prime wrote:And if Warden was really going for G1 accuracy, there should have been a Roller included with the trailer. It's a more important feature of G1 Prime than being able to fit a deluxe car inside the trailer.
I agree that even with that Roller would have been nice, but I think having both Roller and the cannon/repair drone (without which the trailer is nothing but an empty box) was sadly beyond the plastic budget, even if they'd saved money elsewhere by simplifying Optimus. And making the trailer big enough to hold a car larger than a Minibot was definitely out of the question for a Leader-class.
The thing about doing him as a Commander-class... As I said, that would have meant they could do a trailer that was big enough to hold Deluxes and included Roller.
