Yeah with the eyes like that it's similar to how they assemble heads that have light piping in but this doesn't, and those tend to have a screw go through so you can't easily just take it off without unscrewing. Again this doesn't. So to me this seems designed to be removable as a nice lil easter egg to his death.

However, I did have something else arrrive!
"Ironhide, catch!"
"Wha-"
*THUD*
I'm working on adding some paint, but I'm having a blast with the new parts!
I mainly got the kit for the rifles, but the other parts are also very welcome. The only issue I'm having with it is that the back of the truck doesn't want to tab together anymore, so I'll have to look more into that.

Had that set for a while now. Before most people actually. Cos an eBay listing Buy It Now appeared with it already attached to an Ironhide so I leapt on it and it turned out to be the very exact one I had actually watched a review of just a few days before. It was youtuber Benscollectables' Ironhide. It was still complete with box and all that (with the old parts now in the DNA box). I swapped which parts I needed with my own Ironhide that I had painted some parts on then sold the spare un-DNA'd Ironhide on eBay and kept my lovely improved one. The front bumper really makes a world of difference to his shape and more dynamic posing. The guns and improved articulation in feet are all great but it was the bumper that I so very much wanted.

Anyways I'm off for an early night cos I'm getting up early tomorrow on my birthday to go wait outside at 5:30am for my lift to airport to fly up to the Edinburgh Fringe for a day and night to go spend the day with my am dram group who are up there performing a couple shows. Hm, there's a Forbidden Planet in Edinburgh and it's right close to the castle I'll be going to on the Tuesday morning. Hopefully they'll have some Transformers I be looking for.
Anyways take care, folks. And enjoy your Transformers. til all are one and such.

Went ahead this morning and added a reference link to the original source for that tidbit on Bonecrusher's Wiki page.Carnivius_Prime wrote:kinda wished i'd never said antyhing now. Didn't expect it to go on this much. Just wanted a pic of what TFwiki had written.![]()
Didn't know someone had actually added it to the page. Had I known, I would have added the source link a long time ago.

Having watched the film several times and the clip just now I can say it was most if not all of the head, most apparent when Bonecrusher's head falls down it looks mostly whole and spherical and it rolls.
I don't think his head would be rolling if it was a face decapitation.

It’s more like “this is how the head is assembled isn’t it kinda like how he dies in the movies?” Especially since if you’re not careful you can break the eyes taking it off. Once I got bonecrusher I did this and it felt more like I was just disassembling my toy. Especially considering there’s no detail like say that Fallen toy where there’s bits and a skull under behind the face
Yeah, I don't really buy it. By this logic, hundreds of figures have undocumented features for removable arms, legs, heads, wings etc.

it's not even accurate, you might as well take the whole head off the ball joint instead for more accuracy.
That Long Haul above kinda proves it's unintentional.
JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:

Well yes but actually no.
He's never decapitated in ROTF although he is shot in the shoulder during the bombing run by a missile and loses a shoulder tire which might of made his head come off loose but otherwise he's not shown being decapitated.
In DOTM while Igor is by all means and intentions a sentient decapitated Long Haul head (whether the same as the ROTF one is unknown) it's not really said in the movie itself, just vague details in the novel adaption and concept art.

The Garbage Truck Decepticon (who I have the head canon is actually Onslaught before he lost one of his arms and took a new alternate mode for hiding) isn't shown getting decapitated and neither is the straight up Long Haul clone in Chicago which in my head canon is Igor who got his head reattached for the battle, explains his disappearance away and explains a Long Haul clone.
Onslaught however is straight up decapitated though
I know head canon's aren't official or anything but their just theories to explain stuff away by linking things together that will otherwise be unlikely to be officially answered.
Anyways there's no point for an Igor homage with Longhaul because we already got a pretty accurate looking Igor figure with Leader DOTM Megatron

An alternate idea is that one of the designers wants Optimus Prime to be able to build up a face collection in preparation for a future Fallen figure

An alternate idea is that one of the designers wants Optimus Prime to be able to build up a face collection in preparation for a future Fallen figureeither way this is a fun thing so I don't know why people can't just let it lie
Who says it wasn't a new type of construction they were trying?
There were better ways to achieve that effect if it was intentional, that and the whole breaking eye thing casts doubt it's intentional.
There isn't any problem if people want to use this for that purpose but the discussion is whether this is an intentional feature or just a side effect for the construction of the figure.

I agree, the only way we'll ever know for sure is if the question was put to the studio series designers.
@Deadput it's okay to say that there's other ways to do it, but it doesn't change the point that this method is an inefficient way to construct a head. There's no point I can see, no benefit, to having the head built this way compared to normal style

Lightpiping maybe? If it wasn't for just the pupils being translucent (in addition to other parts that may impact other modes), I'd say that's a possibility.

It’s like they’ve layered complexity over simplicity which ultimately seems more in line with the aesthetic than the previous toys that were trying to be both hyper complex and hyper detailed.
From the back in robot mode Rampage looks super simple then from the front he’s a hyper detailed murder machine on a pogo stick.

The arm is attached via a mushroom peg I think, so it should be pretty easily removable.
