Alt mode looks a little gappy to me. For the size, I'd expect it to be better...

(Fairness in criticality: I love FP's take, so I would likely be more critical of this set. Just saying. *whistles*)

I don't disagree with your take on Explorer. It's excellent. And the fact that a slightly-above-scout-size figure can outclass a figure made several years later that is twice or three times its height says a lot.

My guess is that they meant November 15. So maybe we will see something tomorrow...

And look at that, stroke of midnight, 11/15!

BBTS Preorders

Pics to follow in a post momentarily...

[Edit] Now that I posted the pics, I have to say that I am supremely impressed with the pricing compared to the rumored sizes. This is better than I remembered for Herc, and definitely better than Uranos. I'll keep an eye on this. (Still wish it was more Classics sized.)

All preordered from BBTS. As massive and perfect as this thing looks, I'm surprised at the relatively reasonable price all things considered. If the plastics used are solid and the paint apps aren't too sparse (or at least the plastic colors are good) then I think dollar for dollar this is probably the most reasonably priced third party combiner to be developed so far. It sure makes Maketoys' and Fansproject's combiners seem overpriced and definitely gives MMC and TFC a run for their money.

Time for the competition to commence. As this market grows, the available collector money shrinks so now these 3rds really need to step up their game and step down their pricing to remain relevant. They can't rest on their reputations forever (lookin' at you FP).

This thing looks like a homerun out of the box so far, no add-ons needed (lookin' at you TFC).

It scratches all the right itches and my wallet is gonna feel it having to pay for them all at once (or at least during the same quarter), but in the end it's only money. And these guys look to be worth every cent.

It looks like, from BBTS's listed (and highly vague) release dates that this might come out over the course of 2 quarters. WB01-04 and 05 list 2nd qtr 2014 with the first three 1st qtr 2014. That'd be the only way I could get them, and I am very, very tempted.

Preordered.

I still want to see relative size comparisons to Uranos, Herc and Feral Rex.
Mostly Uranos for the Superion/Bruticus rivalry, though.

Also, if another 3P, like MMC or TFC, drop an announcement for Bruticus, I may skip these guys in favor of a group I know.

But so far so good.

My love for Bruticus really tempts me to buy this. But why does it have to be MP scale ? :-(

I dont need another 2 foot tall cofee table centerpiece. I had enough time finding a spot for Generations Metroplex. And for all you MP collectors out there, I ask this:

Is there really a market for MP figures that are not cartoon accurate (neo) ??? I thought the whole appeal of the MP line was cartoon accuracy ? I always considered the big size a turn off. I am aware some people like this scale better than classics scale. But are you willing to start mixing your G1 accurate MP figures with neo MP figutres ? For that isnt it easier (and cheaper) to just stay with the classics line ?

This isn't going on my MP shelf (not that MP scale is all that different from Classics though, now that you mention it, especially for the Autobot cars). It's going to be standing next to Superion (Uranos), Devastator (Hercules) and the rest of my 3P combiners.

Scout scale is not "Classics" scale to me for combiners. It's Deluxes or above when I can manage it (FP Menasor being the obvious exception...for now).

This thing is going to tower Uranus. Im not sure if I like that. I can live with an inch and a half, but if it's like 3 inches taller, it just doesnt work with the other combiners currently out. Also, Im not feeling the trucks windshield on Onslaught's chest because it is too much like Optimus. Im not crazy about Vortex having the cockpit on his chest either, but Im used to that with the FP Combaticons (Hasbro mold) I would think a more cartoon accurate set wouldnt have copied that feature. Dont get me wrong, theyre awesome and I might buy em. But theyre not classics scale in any form, even gestalt mode.

The low price was a shocker. I was expecting each piece to cost over $130. The FOC Bruticus is just a waste of plastic. While the Energon Bruticus is mildly okay with the FP add-ons. Warbotron is the best version made so far. Like some I feel it's over sized. I think the perfect scale is small deluxes for the combaticons & small voyager for onslaught.

I can live with it just fine because having the combiners all being the same size doesn't really matter to me (I just don't like it when they're too small for my tastes :P).

These are very, very tempting.

As for the scale issues mentioned, looking at the scale chart, I think we can find a few figures that might work with them, where their own scales are in dispute.

Specifically, I think we can give them TW-Orion as close to their scale, along with otherwise out-of-scale MP Grimlock, and apparently the iGear Raptor squadron are a good fit. Maybe a few of the taller deluxe figures, like RTS Jazz, and add-on figures like Fansproject City Commander.

Instead of trying to view them as "Masterpiece" scale, we should think of what figures in multiple lines/companies they work with. I see a lot of possibility already.

Even if it was the right height, it still wouldn't fit because it isn't show accurate.

True, but the design is still tempting.

I think we should view these as being Classics scale, not the Combaticons but the Bruticus. The gestalts are often portrait as being freaking huge in combined mode, especially in the comics.
So this Bruticus would work pretty well for those who want to replicate those scenes.
