Here's an idea I don't remember having ever heard - what if different tactics increased in upgrade costs at different rates?
I don't think it would be possible to program, but I'm curious if that could be used to balance things.
Avoid would start off comparatively expensive, for example, and then level off, while strafe would work the opposite way.
For those wanting to visualize, imagine your xp investment on the y-axis and your number of upgrades on the x-axis. Avoid's curve would start really steep but then become nearly flat. Strafe however would start off flat, and then become extremely steep (a distorted version of the curve we have right now).
