Nope the 86 version is the best, because the 80s music from the 80s was recorded in the 80s. TFM is one of the better flicks of the 80s. A lot of kids grandparents that didn't understand TFM were probably in their 80s back in the 80s.

My only question that time was, when is the Movie 86 part II coming out?
Me and my classmates were all searching for that mystical Transformers The Movie part II. We really thought it was produced and didn't reach our shores.
We kept up the hope of eventually seeing the part II, until early this millenium. It was only after we saw the tv series with Galvatron and Rodimus Prime in it, in DVD copies, that we finally realized there was no Movie part II.
Dam!

Hmmm I sorta had the same idea, but I am glad they didn't do that. But I do hope they pay homage to TFM in TF2 and TF3...Maybe with some recycled lines that we love.
I also thought there was going to be a sequel to TFM. I am also glad they didn't do that.
TF2 I hope will be the best movie of all TF movies!!

I agree TFM is better than TF1... but with TF2 and TF3 on the way. I don't think the fans will forget TF1. TF1 is the first time we all see Prime, Bumblebee, Ironhide, Jazz & Ratchet in LIVE ACTION. Who would forget that?

Still though, I wouldn't say you can really compare them - different mediums, 20 year gap.. If one was a remake of the other then yeah, compare all you like.
I love them both for very different reasons. Would love to get the original cheese metal soundtrack dubbed over the 07 movie though. That would rock...

In your opinion. (which isn't any more relevant or correct then mine, so just remember that)
This topic should be called "What did you like better", not, "What was better". There are to many people who don't understand that you can't really compare the two in a cinematic and historical sense, not sure if it's just because they don't think that way, or they will just use any excuse to say something sucks.

According to WHO?? YOU?? YOU set the rules on what can be compared and what can not be compared??
They are both TRANSFORMER MOVIES, of course fans will compare the 2 finished films. The fans WILL compare all 4 films when TF2 and TF3 are finished also. Historical sense is just predictions and guesses right now buddy.
Most people have viewed TF1 and TFM enough to say "I like this one better"

Yes, to me. Well done.
Just to make it clear.. people will *compare* in the sense of "I liked this one better". That's it.
"I liked this one better because of the music", ok, well, that's great, but another personal taste thing. 20 year difference in the music, or the animations.
To get technical..
If the question was "What was better, TF Season 1 + TF Season 2 + 86 movie, or TFM 2007?", that might be a bit more fair question.
Or, of course, if TFM 2007 was suppose to be a remake of 86, or continuation, or anything in the same continuity, then again it could be a fair comparison.
Otherwise it's all personal opinions and tastes, nothing that really will answer, "What was better", as a film.
The end, of course, all in my personal opinion of how I think the quesiton should be asked
