With the movie now upon us, Deadline Hollywood has uploaded a new story highlighting what they think will happen money-wise with The Last Knight. While the United States don't appear to be holding a strong torch at the moment, with an estimated 5 day total of $70 million, down from $100 million for Age of Extinction, it is expected that international markets will push this movie to be a hit overall. In what looks to be another case of summer franchise fatigue at the domestic box office, Paramount’s Transformers: The Last Knight opens tonight in the U.S. and it’s projected to be the lowest opening in the Hasbro cinematic series with a five-day take of $70 million at 3,800 theaters.

Age Of Extinction per Deadline’s film finance sources, minted a profit of $250M after all ancillaries with an estimated $30M in revenue coming from merchandising — the real reason why studios continue to keep these dusty franchises in business, particularly with the wane of home entertainment monies. Age Of Extinction and 2011’s Dark Of The Moon cleared $1.1 billion and $1.12B at the global box office, respectively, and the trick for Paramount is getting Last Knight to that same result.

Discovering the wetness of water in economics terms, CNBC has published a short article / interview with Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for comScore, discussing the international impact and importance for US-based productions. Specifically, Pirates of the Caribbean and Transformers, which are both much bigger since their first release abroad than they are in domestic markets.

In addition, they also add that the Transformers franchise will be adding four more movies at least after The Last Knight - three (ish) of which we know about: Bumblebee, Cybertron, and potentially Ancient Rome. If you've looked at the movie listings this weekend, and asked yourself "Why is Disney making another 'Pirates of the Caribbean film?" you're not alone.

The fifth installment "Dead Men Tell No Tales" opens Friday in the U.S. With each new addition to the Pirates' franchise, the reviews have gotten worse and the U.S. audiences have shrunk. But overseas, fans are still enamored with Johnny Depp's swashbuckling portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow.

International markets have driven the majority of box office revenue for the "Pirates" franchise since the first film was released in 2003. At the box office "Curse of the Black Pearl" saw a pretty even split between U.S. and international ticket sales, but with each additional release, that gap has widened.

By the fourth film, "On Stranger Tides," more than 75 percent of box office revenue was earned overseas, a whopping $804.8 million.

For comparison, the film garnered $241 million in the U.S., less than the opening weekend gross of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

"U.S. audiences have been subjected to so many sequels over the decades that it is hard to maintain the excitement," Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for comScore, told CNBC.

Despite the lackluster performances in the United States, two of the "Pirates" films have garnered more than $1 billion in total global ticket sales and one fell just shy of the mark with $962 million.

While several cast members of the "Pirates" franchise have hinted that there could be more films in the future, the studio does not currently have any plans for a sixth installment.

"Transformers," on the other hand, is slated to release at least four more films after "The Last Knight," one of which will be a standalone "Bumblebee" movie set for release in 2018.

The Tiny Turbo Changers are becoming a surprising highlight of The last Knight toyline. It could be because they are one of the only classes to be made up of completely new molds and designs and quite a good value for only $3 USD a piece, compared to other collectable toys at that pricepoint that usually lack articulation and the ability to transform.

For fans of this line, you will all be happy with this first look at series 2 which includes some new characters, designs and transformations.

The entire line up was revealed in an Argos Catalogue for the Transformers:The Last Kngiht toyline, which TFW2005 user Galva Prime posted. The line up has:

Adding to the Bayhem post from yesterday, we have some more Transformers: The Last Knight tidbits to report, through various social media accounts from cast and crew. First up, a new name joins the cast: Doctor Who alumna Elizabeth Croft, as production continues in London.

The Paramount Pictures feature film “Transformers: The Last Knight” has completed filming in Detroit, and is moving on to London, England to continue filming. There is an official casting call seeking males over 16 years of age who have long hair and/or beards to portray medieval soldiers and knights in an epic battle sequence that will film between October 3rd and October 14, 2016. To be considered, all talent MUST have legal eligibility to work in the entertainment industry in London, and the documentation and resources are available here. “Transformers: The Last Knight”, will center on the previously unknown connection between giant alien robots from the planet Cybertron and the mythical court of fifth century English monarch King Arthur.
