I'm going to guess Prime is a ROTB exclusive.

I don't think so.
I never ever saw it live in store and I was lucky to secure a preorder online. Your store may be one of the rare one to have it on actual shelves.

I had G1 Starscream back in 'the day'. This is just serving to remind me what a parts-forming mess those G1 seekers were, and how much better the modern figures are by comparison. Yes, ER Starscream has his drawbacks, but it's light years beyond the G1 figures.

You really can't compare since the mold used for Starscream was never meant to be in a massively popular children's cartoon that has stood the test of time that would show a more perfect transformation. Remember, parts forming was/is part of the Japanese toy/animation culture.

About 8 years ago as Kmart exclusive, but with terrible distribution thanks to massive store closures. Some people found them in large quantities on clearance as their stores were closed down while other stores that stayed open didn't get any. My local store didn't get a single one despite being open until 2019.
But also keep in mind that this time they're going to be in cartoon colors (i.e. flat colors and no chrome) so it's something different.

No.

Gotta love G1 and its weird proportions!

I think the one on the box is something they mocked up from the original figure, notice it's missing the original stickers (pretty sure the repaint uses tampographs), seemed to try to dull the chromed parts (aside from the wheels) and probably hand painted the green.
