However, this figure looks very good & fun and worthy of a Commander. It's one I'll likely get with a pre-order... which is a first for a Commander class/price toy. I'm impressed.

Which one? Armada Prime?
That will be the next normal released Commander. So, available everywhere.

Also, what are the chances of getting a Nemesis Prime out of this? Either a commander version or a voyager version with the cab only?

They didn't make the symbol on the side of the trailer "Autobot-shaped" so they may have left themselves open for a possible Nemesis Prime.

Assuming you're talking about Prime, then I must respectfully disagree. This looks like a perfect update to the now 21 year old toy. I think they nailed it, and its unlikely at the moment, but I'd love a Jetfire at least to go with him.

Will be interesting to see the comparisons to the third party MP at some point.

Wait… what? How are immovable panels better than articulated legs?
The shoulders are the correct shape,

He looks pretty good. The only disappointment is his size.

The legs/hips should be wider/jutting out at the sides of the front skirting (no side skirts) which old toys legs are. The lower legs should have gun turrets.
Shoulders sloped sections should protrude more and noticable shape difference, so not even close to correct shape.
The silohettes wouldnt match up with the animation for sure and that's with out the other details. I'm also not keen how the leg treads end up on the back of the newer figure but they kinda disapear on the toon version anyways rather than staying on the legs star convoy style.
Posted by -Kanrabat- on March 5th, 2023 @ 3:02pm CST
At least for the newer Legacy version, the legs look like legs and function like legs.
Granted, the missing gun turrets could be annoying for some, but I'm 100% sure some upcoming 3P upgrade kit will fix that. As for the rest of the little details, better go with that 3P "masterpiece" version. But for the majority of people, that Commander blow the original out of the freaking planet.

Which is also Machine Wars Megatron's alt mode! He doesn't transform the same way, as he was a flipformer, but most of his parts en up in the same place. the same applies to Machine Wars Skywarp/Thundercracker, although they transform into a different plane, a Dassault Rafale.
G2 Smokescreen, Machine Wars Megatron and Machine Wars Skywarp were repainted into Beast Wars 2 Starscream, Thrust and Dirge respectively.
The point of this ramble is that if they ever re do Energon Starscream, we could get a new G2 Smokescreen, Machine Wars Megatron and Megaplex, and Beast Wars 2 Starscream and Thrust just with redecoing and a couple of new heads. And with some alt mode remolding, we could also get Machine Wars Skywarp and Thundercracker, and Beast Wars 2 Dirge.
Come on Hasbro, it's a whooping NINE figures just by tweaking a single mode a bit. I'm sure that at least G2 Dreadwing & Smokescreen and Energon Starscream, could sell well, lol. Can't be sure about all the repaints, I'd be interested in them but they're sort of niche. But they're also cool planes with simple yet attractive decos, and probably deluxe size, depending on how big Energon Starscream should be. And you can say they're JAPANESE characters. They'd also be good fodder for "worlds collide" style packs. And Beast Wars 2 BB & Starscream have that wish fullfilment factor, since they basically use the same deco as that barely released Megatron and Starscream G2 set.
They could even do Botcon Waspinator if they wanted, since he was a repaint of Machine Wars Skywarp!

That may be a bit too much for the current Hasbro team as they've mellowed out so to speak when it comes to easy redecos/retools. I will give you Energon Starscream with G2 Smokescreen as the alternate head... as the unreleased G2 Starscream:

Machine Wars Megatron/Megaplex is already an easy redeco for Prime Universe Dreadwing using the BotCon release as a base, so they can get away with that

I'd be okay with only getting that, that whole wall of text is wishful thinking: I'd be surprised if they even did any single one of those characters in the first place. But pointless speculation is half the fun here!

The Energon Starscream mold was pretty much mush by 2009 with its use for BotCon 2009 Leozack and Skyquake. That mold has long since degradated by now, 19 years later.Rtron wrote:All this talk about Armada Prime got me watching some old reviews, and I just noticed that G2 Smokescreen and Energon Starscream transform exactly the same way! And it's not just Energon Starscream that reused G2 Smokescreen's transformation. 2010 Terradive reused it with a few extra steps, and Generations Fall of Cybertron Starscream used it too.

Yeah, I was talking about what they could do if they made a modern update, not the original mold. Since they're "remaking" Unicron Trilogy characters and all.

I would have never guessed that torso mode. It's amazing how that big truck became that tiny and compact block. The overall combined mode is impressive, nicely proportionate and STABLE. Hear that, Combiner Wars?
Overall, I'm very pleased and I'm glad I didn't miss out.

I do hope they redo Megatron as well, the Combiner Wars Armada Megatron remold would be okay enough. I don't have that one, I do have the g1 Megatron version.
I would love Hasbro to also remake Jetfire and Overload(Ultra Magnus). Especially Overload, I love his big red blockyness and it's still one of my favorige Transformers. Turning into a big truck thing and a Star Wars fighter bomber thing.
Armada Jetfire is already (near) perfect, decent articulation and great alt/robot mode. But for completeness sake I hope they remake him as well for that Jet Optimus Bulldozer mode.
And, more speculation, I hope they do a Titan Tidalwave.
Can you guys imagine, a Titan sized Aircraft Carrier who can split into 3 airships and another giant. And somehow have him connect with a Megatron in his torso to mimic the cartoon.
They can repaint Tidalwave into Shockwave (the cartoon one was Shockwave) and in the future when sales are mental repaint his ass into Energon Tidalwave.
If I can get 3 Titan aircraft carriers for about 150 euro's a pop. then I'll get 3, to hell with food.
Oh but first we're going to prolly get Titan Class The Nemesis.
Question, Any of you who got Titan Metroplex (Cybertron series), what's your opinion?
I haven't gotten him and he's dropping in price (still too expensive though).
I was very letdown that he didn't have a mega head-master playvalue, like little ramps, ladders, computer stations etc. Since he's a giant mining vehicle, I hoped he had all of those little addons so it would look like people were working on him.
Anyway, I might fold if he drops to below 100 euro's and 3d design the best I can do to get him to have ramps and ladders for the Headmasters/Titanmasters.
.... On that note, Hasbro, please do Headmasters/Titanmasters/Primemasters again, I love the feature of little dudes riding in altmode and becoming a head or a chestpiece or whatever.

No, "Shockwave" was just Tidal Wave's Japanese name. The Armada English dub was just so incompetent that it'd sometimes use characters' Japanese names instead of their English ones.noctorro wrote:They can repaint Tidalwave into Shockwave (the cartoon one was Shockwave)

Sorry for not being savvy in posting this info but if anyone is looking to get the "A Hero is Born" set there are several nicely priced compared to what I laid down!

Since this is Hasbro's store on eBay I wonder if there are any on Hasbro Pulse which I have zero desire on checking.

At any rate I hope we do get us a much wanted Commander Class Tidal wave, a Titan Class would be shockingly mind blowing but doubtful...'nuff said!

Sorry, dude. Even I picked up the thinly veiled contempt and sarcasm toward anything NOT G1. And frankly it was unwarranted and effectively demonstrates a point I've made several times over the last few months. The Geewunners- "fans" of G1 who want EVERYTHING to be G1 and have nothing but hatred or contempt for those who enjoy other versions of Transformers. Frankly, it's BS and toxic. It's like someone who believes that Jose Cuervo is the pinnacle of tequila and ignoring Don Julio, Patron, 1942, Codigo, Cimarron and others of higher quality.[/quote]
I wasn't born into G1, so it carries no nostalgia. But it came first, so I think it should be held in a high regard. It wasn't perfect but isn't that bad a base. I want the new design to look like OPTIMUS PRIME, for example. It doesn't have to be exact right down the very last pixel. The Bumblebee Movie Cybertron scene proved G1 can be done again and still look "fresh" or "new." I actually really liked Cyberverse, I even have the spark armor prowl from the toyline. Beast Wars was cool too. And even if Armada Optimus isn't my favorite design, I think the trailer and it's combining gimmick was a cool idea. At the end of the day, there's nothing wrong with being like G1, but every new series can take a few liberties. And if my earlier post sounded rude, I don't see many people complementing armada often. If you are one of theese aftormentioned fans, show yourself! Everyone will respect your part of the fandom at least a little bit more if you talk about it more and don't just cower behind your screens as the prime fans carry the parade.

P.S. Sorry guys for responding to such an old comment.

One thing I have never really liked about Lio is the lion legs on the arms despite the goodness of the swords, but on this mold, they feel even more out of place. Outside of that, he feels really solid. I need to put him in lion mode, but he's pretty good. I love the headsculpt details.
The Dinobots are also pretty cute in hand. I kind adore these ugly little MoFos.

Price had gone up to $9.99, but somehow that still sits with me way better than $11.99.
Still zero deluxe figures of any kind.
Well, I never look at the Earthspark stuff, so I don’t know what’s what with all that.
But figures are showing up, just no deluxes.

There's a kit or two on eBay that moves the lion legs from his arms to his back, though you're still left with the red bar on the back of the arms.

I truly do think the early shipping of those wave 2 core's must have been an error. So frustrating that I actually saw 2 of the 4 (Nemesis Prime and repack Bomb Burst) but never saw Grimlock or Thundercracker. Heck, I've never even *technically* seen wave 1 in the wild yet, despite getting Slag and Sludge from Amazon back in January. Oh well, even if I never see them at retail, at least I have my pre-orders secured.

I just saw Nemesis, Grimlock, & Thundercracker two nights ago, yet never saw Slag or Sludge (or any Core figures from that wave).
It’s seriously like Legacy wave 3 was canceled, and what I’ve called wave 4 (w/ Breakdown) also seems to have been pretty much nixxed from brick and mortar retail.
I know some have seen that wave, but it’s definitely been thin and oddly sporadic.
