Yes, Core SS86 Wheelie was on the list of leaks from September.

Nice!
I thought it was SS RotF Wheelie. Regardless, I want that one too.

The TR Wheelie is still a very decent representation of the character. I've got the Legends version with the clear windshield.

I don't really like TR Wheelie. Too flimsy and fiddly. However, he's TR Kup's essential partner. Same thing with the G1s and the old Generations Kup with GDO Wheelie. But SS86 Kup is lonely without a proper partner from the same line/generation.

Why is that? I usually lean heavily towards G1 cartoon accuracy, and the LG release by Takara is much more faithful to the Sunbow color model than Hasbro's TR release.

However, do you as fans, and as collectors consider Kingdom Cyclonus, Galvatron, Ultra Magnus, and Rodimus Prime as "SS86" in spirit, or do you expect to see them slightly redecoed/repainted in the SS86 line proper, or Buzzworthy with SS86 designations (ala Kup and ER Cliffjumper).
What About ER/K Leader Optimus Prime? Is that your "definitive" TF:TM version, or do you expect SS86 to make one even more accurate?

SS86 and Buzzworthy are both overspill lines under the CHUG umbrella, so I see no point in getting too fussed about the distinction. Regarding the four you mentioned: Kingdom or SS86, they're TFTM anniversary figures and no mistake. As for redecoes... I can see Cyclonus getting a toy-colors redeco under the Buzzworthy subline. Galvatron and Magnus? Maybe... but doubtful. Rodimus? Hell no. Not only is the metallic face the only thing that would maybe require it, he's too big.o.supreme wrote:So, I understand the explanation of why some characters that seemingly should have been in one line, were released in others, and vice versa.

1. Considering that Optimus wasn't a movie-introduced character to begin with, classifying anything besides the postmortem-gray redeco as a TF:TM version is silly.o.supreme wrote:What About ER/K Leader Optimus Prime? 2. In any case, I see ER Optimus Prime as a misengineered midget with a sad wannabe trailer; he's hardly a definitive CHUG take. If we do get an improved version of Optimus, it would probably be under Legacy or whatever follows, and hopefully Commander-class.

Any figures that refer to the movie and offer a movie "accurate" depiction would be considered SS86 figures at least As far as I'm concerned.
Prime, is difficult. Because as good as Earthrise / Kingdom Prime is, he was some major issues. to really consider him "definitive".
Rodimus is much more definitive there.
As much as I like ER Prime he is lacking in definitive features on his own.
Prime has a good cab, albeit a bit too small. He looks great, has excellent articulation and features himself. However, he is technically missing accessories and a better scaled trailer.
You need to buy the Selects Centurion figure with its accessories to get his more accurate gun, axe and roller. And even then Roller is not what you would call a good accessory.
For a really definitive version, it needs to be a commander class, with a well sized trailer and all his accessories. It would not take much. Just scale ER up a bit, add the accessories, and a larger trailer and you're done. For $80 bucks, there's a ton of stuff they can improve on ER Prime to make him the definitive G1 Optimus Prime.

Neither was Jazz, or the Dinobots. Basically thus confirming anyone who appeared in TF:TM is an option for this line. ER/Kingdom Optimus happens to be just one example of a pre-movie character in a recent Generations line that doesn't have a SS86 designation, so far; others I can think of are:
Grapple if we are reaching,
The Netflix VW Bumblebee, which would be an excellent candidate for SS86, but I doubt we are ever going to see that one again....
SS86 Arcee is rumored to be a premium repaint of ER/Kingdom Arcee, which I know fans are not pleased with.
I know a LOT of fans would consider the ER Seekers/Coneheads definitive, but a SS86 repackage would probably be welcome considering their prior exclusivity.
ER Wheeljack, Sunstreaker....the list can go on and on.
Other exclusives like ER Prowl and Bluestreak would probably be welcome. ER Ironhide and Ratchet are tricky though, releasing them again as SS would probably be welcome, if they retooled them to be more TF:TM accurate. the feet in the back put a LOT of people off.
Both ER versions of Cliffjumper and Starscream (now with coronation add-ons), have been given SS86 designations.
I don't really have a strong opinion one way or another if they redo Optimus Prime for the SS86 line or not, I'm just trying to basically get a feel for the fandom, if anyone would "include" ER/K Leader Optimus Prime, or any of the more recent ER or Kingdom releases if they were looking to specifically collect the full cast of TF:TM.

It depends. As of right now, I have Cyclonus and Rodimus Prime on my 86 shelf and plan on adding Galvatron and Ultra Magnus when I pop them open. I think the Sweep might get swapped out as Scourge since I like the lighter blue more. I also have a Quintesson from Earthrise and Netflix Bumblebee up there too. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the Buzzworthy re-releases, I might add Cliffjumper to the shelf. As it is I'm running out of room.
In the case of Prime, Megatron, Soundwave, and whomever else might come I hope that instead of repaints we get some tweaks if necessary to make them fit in better.

If I were keeping them sealed in packaging then I'd want them all to be under the SS86 moniker, but since I open them to display my only concern is that they look as close as possible to their G1/Movie appearance.
The only figure that feels out of place is the Netflix Elita-1 because I don't have dedicated space for that show and this figure isn't exactly G1 accurate.

I don't feel SS86 to be the end all G1 cartoon line. Instead, I find SS86 to just be on of the places Hasbro continues what they started with Siege Springer and continued with the Earthrise Datsuns and Seekers.
These G1 character releases fit under one umbrella for me. I do not think we will get a slight redeco of Magnus in the SS86 line, nor a redeco of Galvatron or Rodimus Prime or Blaster.

As a general rule, my Generations collection is organized by the G1 inspiration, like a season of the cartoon, or the 1988 lineup, or Marvel Comics villains. Only in rare cases do the product lines factor in directly. For example, I have TR and Kingdom/SS86 versions of the post-movie cars and "planes," so my Season 4 collection includes the TR versions rather than the more cartoon-accurate figures released more recently.
If Springer, Magnus, or other figures are re-released in SS86, I may still pick them up and rotate figures into other slots, but as of now I'm perfectly happy with what I have. I don't know how I'll balance having both SS86 and BB Kup, for example, as I don't plan to split TF:TM and season three into independent sets.

We don't know that for sure. The same set of stock images we saw Galvatron in also showed BB Cliffjumper with clear windows and we know for a fact he'll be released with painted windows. We won't know if Galvatron is "clean" until someone has him in hand. It makes sense for a WFC figure to be more cartoon accurate in the BB line where it's being given a SS number. But going from Kingdom to Legacy, what's the point, why go to the effort?
