sari herself is an okay character, I just don't like how she has to have that key. it's too...I don't know...convenient maybe.

As far as plot devices go it is rather convenient. But at least it's a key and not kiss playing.
But I dare not go into my opinions on the matter of Sari and her key in case someone runs in ranting at me "zomg this show is for kids not for adults stfu idiot", and such.

Ditto on this. I'd like Sari just fine if it wasn't for the Mary Sue key. (And hearing some of the comments about it here is making me groan a little before watching the ep myself. But watch it I shall anyway.) Unlike Daniel, she's not a clueless idiot.

Re: The Official Transformers: Animated Discussion Thread!
The new episode didn't match the quality of the premiere, but it's still pretty good. Notice the arc-based storytelling: on the one hand, we're watching the Autobots deal with an immediate threat of their base come to life, while on the other, we're watching a piece in the growing Decepticon threat of which they are not aware. The Archer prologue sure felt cheesy, but it's to give the impression that the Autobots are continuing as popular superheroes.
Sari's key must respond directly to her will and adapt itself to any machinery surrounding. I don't understand why the Autobots didn't ask to examine it the first time it healed Prowl, and they should want to look at it even more now. Sari herself remains the first and only entertaining kid ever on a TF cartoon.
The BB/Prowl stuff naturally felt overstated to us grown-ups, but it's a fun dynamic and probably written just right for the target audience. I hope that the show can keep up the quality of the premiere, since I didn't find this episode as much fun to watch, but it looks as if it'll keep its audience.

To which I will now say my peace:
My son, the target audience.....& a pretty big Transformers fan, I might add.....got up in the middle of it to go play Super Mario Bros.
All I can really say is yawn. a sleepover....yeah, great plot there
I dunno...I'm really not liking the superhero angle. it seems like it's going to go too slow. I mean, from the looks of it, it's going to take up most of the first season, if not all, to get around to showing just the decepticons they had in the first episode.
On the plus side, though, it looks like "teamwork" dosen't mean one Autobot does all the fighting while the rest act like a cheerleading squad anymore.

Well I have to say that I liked the 4th episode of the new animated t.v. show. I liked how prowl is a cross between jazz/Rhinox by this I mean he is interested by all organic life forms not just human beings and learning from them while bumblebee has that Cheetor style impatent streak in him. I can't wait to see the dinobots.

I'm horribly dreading the dinobots. Any time I see them I'm blatently reminded that I'm watching a show for six year old boys. They hold no interest for me, as I grew out of my dinosaur phase when I was about nine or so.

The latest entry in the series wasn't all that bad, though I still can't get past the animation. It was nice to see Optimus deal with the "villianous Green Arrow" character in rather short order; although I know this won't be the standard in the series. But hopefully the human villians won't be stealing too much of the Decepticons' thunder.
The way Prowl is depicted in this series reminds more of Hound or Beachcomber from the original series than Jazz. Jazz was more into human "pop culture;" Prowl in this series seems more intrested in the natural elements, much like Beachcomber. In fact, Bumblebee reminds me more of Jazz than Prowl does.

I definitely thought Prowl had a Beachcomber streak in him. Though he's a lot more tense--he should have some of whatever Beachcomber has.

Prowl's also kinda like BM Optimus.

I'm glad he's kind of a jerk (though not enough, like comics Prowl). We have the reluctant hero, the cool guy, the old fart, the dum dum, and the jerk. The circle of life is complete!

Really enjoyed this episode, mostly because of Prowl. Bumblebee kinda annoys me, Sari is actually interesting, I'm hoping they don't over use the key though. Bulkhead is just the big strong dumb guy. Prime is a nice change from previous versions, more like the first one but a little younger. Ratchet I love as well, always good to see an old cantankerous bot around.
Prowl though I'm loving the most. So far he seems to have the most depth to him. I'm sure the others will get some focus time to dig deeper eventually.

I really liked this first real episode. I'm probably in the minority by saying that I liked the Angry Archer. I thought he was a good way of showing that the Autobots have really come into thier role of superheroes, and I thought he was pretty funny. The more I think about it, the more I'm starting to believe Sari is a robot. Her connection with the key is starting to let her do things with her mind, and thats just a little bit strange. Her's hoping next episode is even better.

Just watched the episode, and now I'm even more curious as to what the Prime's back-half turns into.

I just saw the forth episode of Animated a few minutes ago, and I am still holding out judgement on the entire series. There was quite a bit of cheese in it, but it was not totally intolerable. The sleep-over thing was uber-annoying, but it is a kids' show after all, so I could deal. Megatron is just a head, but a real threat...YAY!!!!!
I can only imagine how he'll be when he gets a body...and gets a hold of Starscream for bragging about his "bomb" thing....
Prowl is seeming to be an interesting character. He is totally immersed in learning every little thing about earth and it's natives. Enjoying himself greatly. I can see him growing on me (one of the ONLY Autobots I can actually say that about
!)
One gripe, really...that key of Sari's has GOT to go! Such a weak link in the plot!
and Twister??? *slaps forehead* pullleeeze!

I just got done watching the ep myself, and I still like what I see so far.
Prowl is quickly becoming a favorite character of mine. He's intriguing, he's a badass, I love the voice, and I have a bit of a soft spot for the sort of characters who find themselves lamenting "Why must I be surrounded by idiots?"
I also love how utterly creepy Megatron is... it's awesome having villains that really make you nervous. The whole end sequence was pretty suspenseful, and a great show of teamwork and "lessons learned" without feeling overly cheesy. In a way, the overdone lameness of the Angry Archer served as a contrast to the true nastiness once the 'Cons come knocking.
I didn't mind the sleepover myself... mainly because of the Autobots' perplexed/incredulous reactions to it all. "And the point of this story is...?" Sure beats the Autobots enthusiastically watching *soap operas* in one of the G1 eps.
That key does still suck, though. Meh. At least it didn't save the day this time around. I do still like Sari herself, and Sumdac is amusingly absent-minded.

The key not only didn't save the day--it's responsible for waking up Megs! I have to wonder if the Allspark itself has greater designs in mind, like G1 Vector Sigma, or if we really are just looking at a way-too-convenient plot device.
I wonder if the directions they're taking with Sari are efforts to get girls to watch the show as much as boys? That would be terrific, and I think it'd change the way that subsequent TF series get pitched and written.

It feels to me (at least) that it's basically The Powerpuff Girls Meet The TransFormers.
Which is fitting, oddly enough. Sari is voiced by Tara "Bubbles" Strong.
I think that's part of Sari's charm. There's a bit of Bubbles and Buttercup in her and TFs all around.
I'm lovin' it.

I can't wait till the rise of the construticons episode, there in my top 5 G1 (after Rumble
), took them long enough to return to a series. (Armada Scavenger was 1 autobot and Buildron wasn't quite the construticons either)
One thing I thought about is, how is Megatron alive with only a head? They have already showed sparks, it must of been the key, brought his spark back inside of his head.

Maybe his spark has always been inside his head. There's no rule that states that a spark has to be in chest. TM2 Cheetor for instance had his spark in his leg.

As I stated in the other thread...
It is an entertaining show, and better than reruns of the Cybertron/Energon/Armada series.
I enjoyed the malice that Megatron was able to perform from only being a head. He will be awesome in this show, just from his beginnings as a full bot, and only a head.
The Autobots, well, they are at this time the comedy, the silliness, of the series. They don't seem to know about the internet like movie Prime did, so they are learning about the Earth through their only expert: Sari--a ten year old girl with ten year old girl POV on the world--which included sleepovers, calling friends, shirking responsibilities, and at times annoying parents--so unfortunately for the Autobots this is the friend they are using as expert at this time. hopefully they will find another source at some point, but I imagine Megatron and the Decepticons will adapt more quickly than the Autobots.
