The train (called JRX) was a model based on the combiners from the Brave series.

Thought it was a stretch to be honest but nice to know it was another brave reference(though the brave series had sadly died at that point)
Do you know at which point the statement is made?william-james88 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Source?william-james88 wrote:ZeroWolf wrote:Well we were just talking about series were takara did all the engineering. I ask since the Wiki mentions nothing of it and Protoman's made some dubious claims before.william-james88 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Do you know at which point the statement is made?william-james88 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Source?william-james88 wrote:ZeroWolf wrote:Well we were just talking about series were takara did all the engineering. Within the fist 45 mins, because I just had to quit after that.

That claim at least does have a cited source to go with it.william-james88 wrote:Also the wiki claim about animated rodimus' collar being in reference to him was written by him. Just saying that if you want to stay away from his claims, the even the wiki's wont help.

william-james88 wrote:So what about that Devastator huh? Anybody think it's so big it should get it's own thread?
Just messing. But, in all seriousness, while Metroplex was less expensive and only available at retail at Costco (someone correct me if that's incorrect), Devastator has been confirmed to be on the TRU computer listing. Which means he may have a wider distribution that Metroplex had even though none of these toys are exclusives from Hasbro's perspective. Do you guys think the reason he will be available at TRU (among other probable places) even though he is of a much higher price point is because he is a more well established figure and more related to an existing toyline that is presently on the shelves (thematically at least)?

Did I miss something? Metroplex NEVER made it to the shelves at TRU? That's the kinda thing that would've killed the TF line for good.

I'll likely get Devy online as well, especially if he is only available at Toys R Us and at their prices...

The price was confirmed by Hasbro so I am assuming its a standard price.

TRU has become a big bully with their over pricing!Agamemnon wrote:william-james88 wrote:Agamemnon wrote:Huh....there isn't even a Metroplex entry in the sightings. I had thought I had seen him at Target, but it may have only been at Toys R Us. I got mine online, so never hunted for him...

Now I'm curious. I'll have to compare Hasbro stated pricing with Toys R Us and Target. I usually shop at Target, partially for the convenience, but partially for the cheaper prices than Toys R Us.

Accidentally.
I think it's more that a lot of retailers simply didn't order him. Every Target and Walmart I went to that year didn't have Metroplex not because he was sold out, but because there was never a spot reserved for him on the shelves. No big empty open space with a giant price to be found on any shelf. Just places for all of the smaller stuff. Walmart did sell a few on their website, but TRU and Costco seemed to be the only brick-and-mortar stores to physically sell the toy.vectorA3 wrote:Metroplex was NOT exclusive to Costco. Maybe the scalpers snatched him too quickly at Target, wally and TRU, don't know.
