Then I saw that it was a CW Groove mold, and I don't think it works well for WG. Shame because Wreck-Gar is one of my few favorite characters in the G1 cartoon.
You know what we could have gotten out of this Groove mold? TITANS RETURN SIDEWAYS!

Not really, TR Brainstorm didn't get an exclusive price and was also a Walgreen's exclusive. Exact same scenario here. Now Walgreen's price will vary from store to store, but that will be the same for all deluxes, not just the exclusives. Should be in the $18 to $20 range depending on the location and how much they charge for deluxes.

Has it ever happened in the US that an exclusive was more expensive than non exclusive toys in the same line?
The only time an exclusive deluxe was more expensive was because it came with more stuff, like TR ARcee wth extra Magnus. But the hgher price is because it comes with more stuff, not because its exclusive.

Kinda, at least. As recently as last year TRU was charging $19.99 for Skullitron and flying wing Megatron despite everywhere (in my experience TRU included) going for $16ish on normal TLK deluxes. Also, it seems like a tough argument that Arcee and Grotusque don’t have a markup; sure they come with more, but one Titan Master can’t really be said to be worth the $9 difference when the Titan Master + drone sets are $5.

I could be wrong, but IIRC all the May mayhem releases for CW (Quicksling, Breakneck, and Groove), were initially more expensive than standard deluxes which were $15 at the time. I know the first 2 sold out quickly so after market prices went through the roof. Groove was actually released multiple times, and at one point had a price point almost identical to retail, but still always slightly more
Additionally yeah the TRU TR Arcee and Grotusque. Most retailers had TR Deluxe around $15, even if you consider TRU prices around $18 and add the partially Die Cast TM, one wonders if its worth $6-$8 for that alone...

william-james88 wrote:Guys, I think we are mixing up MSRP with the price a retailer chooses to sell a toy at.
The MSRP on all TLK Deluxes was 19.99, same with TR Deluxes.
MSRP for exclusive TLK Deluxes was also 19.99 and the msrp for exclusive TR Deluxes was 24.99 but that came with an extra head, extra card and collector packaging.
So comparing apples to apples, there seems to be 0 times the MSRP of an exclusive was more simply because it was an exclusive.
o.supreme wrote:MSRP for TR Deluxes were $19.99?? I never saw anyone sell those at that price except for BBTS, which of course was a markup. I know all TLK deluxes were $19.99 because that's when prices started to increase.
