Amazing figure though! By no means perfect in either alt mode (though Train wins for me this time) he looks stunning and a great update to the character. I love TR Astrotrain but he isnt all that rememorable.

Especially the part behind the "legs" where there's just "hollow damage" that desperately beg for a panel to cover that mess. I expect Shapeway or someone else to make such a cover. Plus the part could be stored easily in the train wagon, or be used as a shield in bot mode.
Regardless, I LOVE Astrotrain and that leader is fantastic. Especially because it nail the look (despite the shuttle flaw) and it mostly transform like the original G1 toy!

Honesty I'm ok with a weaker shuttle mode, since every astrotrain toy ever has prioritized that mode. It's finally time for the steam loco to shine

I agree that Classic shuttle sucked because of the two very obvious train parts sticking on both sides. However, G1 Astrotrain had solid vehicle modes, including the shuttle. G1 had a dinky bot with his ridiculous T-Rex arms.
Ah, the eternal law or triple changers where one mode must always be sacrificed.
Is there any official triple changers out there that have ALL of its 3 modes legit perfect?

Thrilling 30 Springer for me.
Do Transmetals count with their Transport Modes that are intentionally designed to be vehicular beast modes?-Kanrabat- wrote:Is there any official triple changers out there that have ALL of its 3 modes legit perfect?

Well that's a tall order. What bar are we measuring against? G1 accuracy, that's a low bar. Real world accuracy, that's a high bar. Personal preference, not even going touch that.-Kanrabat- wrote:Is there any official triple changers out there that have ALL of its 3 modes legit perfect?

Throwing both G1 and realism out the window, how about Cybertron Megatron/Galvatron?-Kanrabat- wrote:Not caring about either G1 or absolute real world accuracy, the ideal us to have triple changers that are great looking in all modes without anything unsightly or weird happening. Meaning cohesive all the time. So far, only T-30 Sandstorm Côme to mind forme, T-30 Springer being almost there.

Another idea. How about any of the DOTM Human Alliance Basics? They were pretty cool.-Kanrabat- wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Throwing both G1 and realism out the window, how about Cybertron Megatron/Galvatron?-Kanrabat- wrote:Not caring about either G1 or absolute real world accuracy, the ideal us to have triple changers that are great looking in all modes without anything unsightly or weird happening. I don't really like that mold. The bot mode have huge ass kibbbles that just hang there, and the "spaceship" mode is just a bonus mode. However, this is one hell of a cool "batmobile".
