It's no secret that
HASBRO, Inc. (HAS NYSE) has benefited greatly from the production and release of the Transformers live action movie and will continue to benefit from the upcoming releases of the sequel,
Revenge of the Fallen and
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. What many people may not know is the role that Chief Executive Officer Mr. Brian Goldner played in making the number 2 toymaker an entertainment powerhouse.
It was Mr. Goldner who enlisted the help of movie producer
"Lorenzo di Bonaventura in 2003 after reading in a trade publication that di Bonaventura was considering a film project about military technology."
"From one conversation to the next, we hit it off," di Bonaventura said. "In normal times, it could take months of conversation to move forward. Brian and I did it in two or three times. He has that gut instinct and a dynamic vision for what 'Transformers' could be and the willingness to jump into it. His contribution was invaluable."
The huge success and amazing rise in company stock that the productions brought on alone is reason enough to praise the amazing efforts of HASBRO's top man, but the list goes on.
Even before adjusting to his new position, Mr. Goldner set the company sights
way beyond a conventional toy maker.
"What does that look like as an online game?" stated Mr. Goldner. "Can that be a cell phone game? Should that be a TV show? Can that be a movie? That's the way we're thinking about our brands today and our strategy for the company."
It was this same innovative thinking that brought the value of HASBRO stock to amazing heights,
reaching nearly double in value during the last fiscal year and that landed him the
Wall Street Journal's "Market Watch" CEO of the Year Award.
Seibertron.com would like to congratulate you, Mr. Goldner, on your award and many achievements that you've completed even before taking the helm of our favorite toy company. Here's to making HASBRO the number 1 toy company.

Seibertron.com member Galvatron Supreme has just given us information regarding studies done on Transformers brand figures for safety tests such as lead and chemical properties.
According to the research done by
HealthyToys.org all of the Transformers toys tested ranked at a low to no contamination levels of harmful substances.
Two of the toys tested ranked among the
Best Toys catagory. This is great news for consumers that are looking to make the best purchases possible as the holiday season approaches and another way to convince that special someone to get you that Transformers figure you've been waiting for.

MTV.com- In an article written on the MTV Multiplayer blog, the Playstation Portable game philosophy is lightly debated and the success of the TRANSFORMERS game franchise is mentioned.
-Round 1-
Port of console games for handhelds Vs. Big franchises with new unique experiences
To read the short blog you can click
here. Some highlights are shared below.
'When I recently spoke with John Koller, head of hardware marketing at Sony Computer Entertainment America, he specifically cited “Transformers” and “Iron Man” as proof that a new PSP development model, one anchored on franchises, was working.
But there’s a problem…
Those games are only half of the “winning” equation he’s talking about. “Transformers” and “Iron Man” are ports of console games. “Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core,” however, is something wholly unique but rooted in a giant franchise. So, can franchise alone carry a game? If it’s big enough, Sony argues.
The NPD Group told MTV Multiplayer that the PSP version of “Transformers” sold 442,000 copies, while “Iron Man” pushed 242,000 copies. In Sony’s eyes, those are both extremely successful PSP games…even if they use a “failed model.”'
'Koller has told me several times to expect big franchise games to be announced 2009. Those should start being announced soon. But will the inevitable “Transformers 2? and “Iron Man 2? follow the same formula?'
So it would appear the questions we TRANSFORMERS fans should be asking SONY are:
-Should we expect unique games based on the very big TRANSFORMERS franchise for the PSP (perhaps similar to the Transformers Animated game for the Nintendo DS)?
-Or can we only expect ports of existing console games for the TRANSFORMERS franchise, like the movie game?
What say you Sony? Which will it be? I am sure you can imagine which one the game playing TRANSFORMERS fan would like.

Thanks to Seibertron members Richter and Darth Bombshell, who have alerted us to the fact that
IDW Publishing's Chris Ryall posted the releases for December 10th, and not December 4th on his blog
RyallTime, meaning our
previous report had incorrect information. Chris has now updated his blog with the correct releases.
This week's releases will actually be:
- Transformers Animated: The Arrival #5
- Best of the UK Time Wars #5
Both issues wrap up their respective series.
And next week, the 10th of December will see the release of:
- Maximum Dinobots #1
- More than Meets the Eye #2 Trade Paperback.

Thanks to
RyallTime, the blog of
IDW Publishing's Editor-in-Chief Chris Ryall, who has updated the Transformers Comics to be released this coming Thursday the 4th of December 2008. A day later than usual.
This week sees the beginning of a new series, and the release on a reprinted trade:
- Maximum Dinobots #1
- More than Meets the Eye TPB #2
Maximum Dinobots is penned by long time Transformers Scribe Simon Furman, and follows the events that occurred throughout the Devastation, Revelation and Spotlight Grimlock Comics. Nick Roche (Spotlight Kup) is on internal art duties.
More than Meets the Eye #2 collects the second half of the Generation 1 Character Profiles that was first published by DW.
The releases for next week, the 10th of December remain sketchy at best, as IDW's Transformers Editor Denton Tipton's blog
From the Tip has the 10th of December releases the same as this weeks releases.
However, it might be that he has mixed up the two weeks releases, meaning that next week we may see:
- Transformers Animated: The Arrival #5
and
- Best of UK: Time Wars #5
released instead.
Stay tuned to
Seibertron.com for more information when it comes to hand.
