New Video Review of Transformers Studio Series 69 Revenge of the Fallen Devastator Boxset

I skimmed through it out of morbid curiosity, and I gotta say when placed together in a box, they don't look that bad. I like the Constructicons individually, but Devastator doesn't appeal to me, so I never bought any of them. However, I might pick this up just so I can have all the Constructicons to display, and have a box to store them all together instead of in individual boxes. And I do think this version looks better, even with the slight paint apps changes. It would have been cool if we got legends class figures of the twins included.

I already have most of the individual Constructicons, I just need Long Haul and Overload, so I'm passing on the box set.

Thats an interesting point. I just saw them as a couple of idiots...the comic relief. There are plenty of people of all races that act like those two. And what about the racial stereotype of Drift as Asian? Of Dino? Hot Rod? Even Wheelie to an extent as a dirtyminded New Yorker...and God in heaven was Wheelie an idiot. It's projection. There was no skin color outside of green and...burnt orange?

The Twins reminded me of my brothers because they constantly came up with stupid ideas that ended up being funny. I think the only thing that really IDs them as racist stereotypes is Skids' golden tooth, and the descriptor of "wannabe gangstas". Which is unfortunate because I'd love an updated set of them, but it's unlikely to ever happen, and their other figures are a tad too expensive for me to justify picking them up

If what happened with POTP Jazz is any indication, Hasbro likely just wants to avoid any controversy, racial or otherwise, altogether, so their lack of producing any SS updates to Skids and Mudflap could be taken as a sign of that avoidance.

I never, ever saw the "race thing" in the twins. Maybe I'm just not insane enough.
All I saw was just forced cringe "comedy" like every other parts of the movie.
But the toys were pretty good or even awesome like the stellar Human Alliance figures. They will come around to make them, like so many other skipped "less popular" characters.

That was and still is my exact same impression of them as well!

I find the "racism" pushed on these characters to be quite forced. First time I heard about it, I was going "uh? whaaa?" and even the voices actors themselves were dumbfounded.

One more result of the critical-race-theories cancer festering in the USA (and too many parts of the western world) since decades.

I really hope they do update Skids and Mudflap, I really enjoyed them and they have quite nice designs. You can't update all the movie characters without updating them.

I Didn't bought much of the SS figures. But man, I would really love to have a boxset of the icecream twins but this time, in proper deluxe sized bots with the vehicle that scale using modern engineering. Why not add the two regular ones as well? A special boxset of four figures.

Then, it will be a badly distributed exclusive.

I strongly feel they shouldn't make any actual film characters into exclusives. I get Leadfoot because he literally has Targets logo on him, and luckily (in the UK at least) he was very easy to get ahold of. But aside from him, the exclusives should just be repaints or characters that weren't in the film, such as Thundercracker. Please don't let SS get the same treatment as Earthrise where half the characters are unobtainable exclusives.

Nah Bay characters wouldn't be exclusives...Studio Series 86 on the other hand...

I'm glad I completed Devastator individually, I don't see my need for the boxset. which is sad, I wish they had done something more to try to get me to buy it.

I also want the twins, they are among the very few bots that have not gotten figures, and now that we have Devastator complete, they really should release them. Wouldn't mind a deluxe or even voyager 2-pack to get them right

See, that's just it. One could argue that "white wannabe gangstas" is itself an offensive mockery of another race's culture, and in that light it's easy to see why people felt offended by Skids and Mudflap resembling "white wannabe gangstas".

That was my point. That's projecting onto them that being that way belongs to 1 specific culture. It doesn't. (What I'm trying to say is that if you say it's racist because being gangsta only belongs to black people then that is racist in itself.)

I think it's sad that a couple fictional characters in a movie that are aliens could be labeled as portraying a specific race.
But what's more sad is that a specific race has dealt with so much oppression and mistreatment and shit that this assumed portrayal, while most likely inaccurate, isn't exactly some crazy stretch.
I'm not black, I'm Asian. And while I'm no high scholar, you don't have to be to understand the reality of history.
What's probably more of a stretch is for people to claim that blacks are too sensitive to the racial issue. Imo, the fact that there is still a racial issue may in fact be justification for a black person's "sensitivity", not matter what level or degree.

Jazz joins Kup and Blurr in being the first wave of Studio Series 86 Deluxes. There has been some speculation over his number with the favorite being a combination of previous numbers that have graced his alt mode in the past.

That Jazz is absolutely magnificent. Could benefit from some Repros and it's a bummer we can't door-wings, but otherwise, it's a sure buy from me.

If this Jazz could do the door wings, it'd be an automatic buy from me. As is, I may still pick it up if it looks good in hand, but personally it's not a priority, especially with Kingdom going on at the same time

I'm so happy with United Jazz. But I must say if they gave Hot Rod all the extra accessories it's lame that they didn't give Jazz his shoulder weapon at least...pretty lame / .


That being said maybe / will milk fans some more and release another repaint like Centurion with another wave of accessories and included will be Jazz's shoulder weapon eh?

I assume so. I wasn't surprised he was skipped in Earthrise and Siege because he had just gotten a figure in PotP. I think this is what we get.

Who knows what will happen post-Kingdom, but I'm not expecting a retread of the '84 cast since they were so well represented in WfC.

I like this jazz I dont really mind the lack of door wings, considering they're going for more cartoon/movie accuracy over original toy accuracy. More couldve been done for articulation or accessories but I like the overall look and the scaling with the other updated G1 bots

Never say never, rumours are that if Kingdom does well, each generations line after will be 50% G1 50% other. Though I think that thus Jazx could have been easily put in Kingdom but was knocked other here

im glad they found a way to not have door wings as that how the original animation model was
this by far is the best version of g1 jazz since g1 a little help from reprolabels and it can be perfect

Tonton reviews has SS ROTF Bumblebee and will be reviewing it later today.


Not only does this confirm those other listings (in which Jolt and DOTM Dino were also listed), but considering that Tonton has it now it can’t be that long (Like, not another year) until they’re released - making me think that wave 2 of SS in 2021 will be Bayverse

Also, while they did remold the grill for the ROTF Camaro, they left the space between the lower grill and the bottom of the car yellow instead of black (indicative of the DOTM Camaro and not the ROTF one).

It’s literally a 5-second fix with paint, but I thought it was worth pointing out.

EDIT: Now that the review is out, we can see that they did actually paint that piece black for the center part of the grill, but not the side pieces that form the robot mode chest.

I hate that we can't seem to be able to get this version with the non-masked head

I’m actually really glad they included Sam, since he is a big part of the movies. I’m hoping we get Simmons (maybe with Skids/Mudflap), Lennox (DOTM Ironhide?) and Epps (ROTF Sideswipe?) in the future.

You can swap the head from SS-01/Clunker Bumblebee onto this mold, but that head sculpt really isn’t the best, especially when you compare it to WWII Bee, which does a great job with the unmasked head. My guess is that we’ll see the unmasked head (hopefully a new one) on either DOTM or AOE High Octane Bumblebee if we get those.

There is the possibility that TonTon's source also just grabbed whichever Bumblebee head they thought went with the mold like Smokescreen's shoulder guns that turned out to be Bluestreak's

This Bumblebee represents how he was in the second live action film (when his vehicle mode was now the 2008 production Camaro instead of the prototype Camaro that was the basis for his alt in the 07 film). It is a retool of the previously released Dark of the Moon Deluxe Class Bumblebee. This figure comes with a non-poseable figure of Sam Witwicky running. This possibly represents the character running to revive Optimus with the Matrix as seen in the finale of the film.
