My favourite Battlizer design would have to be the Red Sentinel Ranger, Operation Overdrive, even if seriously overpowered. The second form of the SPD Battlizer, Sonic Mode, comes a close second. The Cyber Mode is nothing more than an excuse for the different undersuit. My third... The Tri-Battlized Armor, Flight Mode.

And I spotted a trend: I like designs that involve a separate unit (Sentinel Knight, R.I.C 2.0, and that bird mech). I wonder why...

A runner-up is the Dino Thunder Triassic Battlizer. Love the design, love the Dragon Yo-Yo... absolutely HATE the rubbery stretchy limbs. :BOOM:
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

Are there any pics for the individual ninja steel sores yet?

I really like Dino ChArge with its diverse zords and megazords that could combine together.

A dump truck, a dog, a Maglev train, a dragon, and a ninja.

That's about as random as the components of the fanmade megazord I used to build out of Tinkertoys when I was very little (a twin-cockpit spaceship, an old-fashioned cannon on wheels, an ostrich, a winged spaceship, and a mini-rocket; they combined into a dragon-esque megazord).

This is only my personal opinion, but I highly recommend just watching the Super Sentai shows as they air and forget about whatever it is that Saban turns them into. I have had so much more fun watching everything as soon as subs are available since Kyoryuger and have not looked back since except to catch up on previous Super Sentai series. Most of the time the acting is so bad on Power Rangers I just can't believe I bothered to give it my time. :HEADHURTS:

But all of that is only my personal opinion, and for anyone who does enjoy the English language adaptations I do hope they are good and well worth your time. :PEACE:

Yeah, I was just about to ask if there had ever been something this random. Its a big shift coming out of a line about Dinosaurs which had a ton of anciliary zords that could combine in fun ways. I do like how the dog combines with the train to make a uniform set of legs and how all the kibble is accounted for in the individual modes.

Just curious, is a Maglev train symetrical, like is the last wagon another front of the train?

For some series I think it is. I haven't watched Shinkenger yet but I did watch Samurai and I don't remember them making using the kanji with the sword slash in Sumurai. They also cut out Datas from Goseiger so we lost all of his fights (which were quite fun) in Megaforce, and I have no idea what they did with Gokaiger in Super Megaforce because I could not bring myself to watch that mess.

I think Ninninjer's zord fights should be properly adapted but I would not be surprised if you lose something when they introduce Lion Ha-Oh. He has a very interesting character as do all the OtomoNin and I have a feeling that will be lost in the adaptation because it might be "too silly" for non Japanese audiences. Ninninjer on the whole could be a bit silly with the ninja techniques and I am worried there will be quite a bit of editing or bad lines dubbed over to try and make it more serious instead of just going with the flow. I really hope I'm wrong.

The back of the train is the left leg that the dog slips into.

(edit)Just realized what you were actually asking. They can be symetrical, but that's not to say all of them are.

Having kept up with the current PR series, all of the megazord fights in recent years have continued to be just Sentai footage, but with new Saban-made cockpit footage for Samurai and Dino Charge.

Though, in the past, there have been PR-made megazord fights before. Mighty Morphin had at least two or three completely American-made megazord fights (one of which was the one that saw the Thunder Megazord and White Tigerzord gruesomely destroyed). In Space, Lost Galaxy, and Lightspeed Rescue had a fair number of Saban-original megazord fights and scenes (minus some recycled Sentai footage of the cockpit scenes). And even some of the Disney era series like S.P.D. and RPM had some Disney-made zord and megazord scenes (again, with recycled Sentai cockpit footage).

Thanks for the info guys!

About the toys though, I am not feelign this one. Am I the only one who feels there is very little evolution with these toys? It looks like the Samurai one (2 back I think) all over again.

And thanks for the info about the trains Emerje!

Also, another odd question which shows how I dont know this stuff, the wiki entry for Saban entertainment is all past tense, does Saban still exist?

Another question, I thought this was a power rangers thread and then I saw the title. I am assuming now that power rangers is within it but what else encompasses that at the moment in the world of toys? And is Ultra man one of them?

Also, equally dumb question but I always wondered this as a kid: what powers do the power rangers have? The suits dont seem to give them super powers, they can clearly do impressive feats before donning the costumes. And rita seems to know who they are without the costumes. So aside from the obvious reason of power rangers being a salvaged japanese show, how do their costumes help them at all?

Do the toys for the movie line also go in this thread? Because they released an image of the Megazord. Sadly, its just an action figure, I do hope they will make a combiner zord too.

Image

Edit: looking for pics of the new zords online, I cam across this photoshopped mage and it made me laugh. I thought it was appropriate for a Power Rangers themed image to be posted on a Transformers fan site:

From wikipedia:

In Japanese,Tokusatsu (特撮?) is any live-action film or television drama that features considerable use of special effects (tokusatsu literally translates as "special filming" in Japanese).

Tokusatsu entertainment often deals with science fiction, fantasy or horror, but movies and television shows in other genres can sometimes count as tokusatsu as well. The most popular types of tokusatsu include kaiju monster movies like the Godzilla and Gamera film series; superhero TV serials such as the Kamen Rider and Metal Hero series; and mecha series like Giant Robo. Some tokusatsu television programs combine several of these subgenres, for example the Ultraman and Super Sentai series. Tokusatsu is one of the most popular forms of Japanese entertainment, but most tokusatsu movies and television programs are not widely known outside Asia.

As for the costumes, the civilian powers thing is pretty much an american thing AFAIK, most sentai characters can't do such stuff without their costumes/armor on.

Oh, so the Japanese version never has them doing awesome karate moves when out fo custume, beating the putties to bits? ;)

Also, the costume thing gets really odd with the Power Rangers film where Tommy doesnt haev his face covered and still looks kinda like a civilian but can do that insane Liu Kang bycicle kick

Anyways, found a pic of the combiner toy they are doing for the new movie:

They will do unmorphed fights sometimes, but no special powers, just their own bodies, possibly with a sidearm.

Saban Capital Group is the overall parent company that currently exists. The company that previously created and owned Power Rangers and Fox Kids as a whole from back in the 90s to the early 2000s was Saban Entertainment. That company no longer exists. The company that currently owns Power Rangers is a newer subsidiary owned by Saban Capital Group called Saban Brands. And within Saban Brands itself is the division that specifically makes Power Rangers called SCG Power Rangers. So even though it's all owned by the same corporate head, the company that made the first nine season of Power Rangers before the Disney era isn't the same one that's currently making the Neo-Saban Era seasons of Power Rangers.

william-james88 wrote:Do the toys for the movie line also go in this thread?
I will answer this question with the following quote:
Sabrblade wrote:Previously, I'd been using this thread to discuss the new upcoming Power Rangers movie, but that was mostly because I'd since forgotten that I had created a thread just for that movie quite a while back. As that thread has recently been revived, I'll continue to contribute to discussions pertaining to the new movie in that thread rather than in this one.

To bring some attention to it, we now have our first look at some of the toys for this movie's toyline, which in turn give us our first clear look at the new designs for the Tyrannosaurus Zord, the Red Ranger's sword weapon, as the new Morpher. If you're interested, head on over here to get a look at them.

It was requested in the movie thread to not post that leaked pic.

But thats what the american version does. hence my question, what special powers do the rangers have once they have costumes? It seems like all their "power" comes from their zords.

Enhanced endurance and fighting prowess? They always seem to have more of an edge in their fighting skills and durability when morphed than they do when unmorphed.

Also, super leaping abilities accompanied by a lot of "YAAAAAAAA!!!"'s :P

The suits dont seem to give them super powers, they can clearly do impressive feats before donning the costumes. And rita seems to know who they are without the costumes. So aside from the obvious reason of power rangers being a salvaged japanese show, how do their costumes help them at all?

Normally the rangers get enhanced strenght and endurance from the power suits. They also usually have a gun and sword or a gun that turns into a sword. They also get specific individual weapons that combine into a super weapon. Depending on the theme of the series they may get additional powers, for example ninja themed series have all sorts of ninja specific fighting abilities and animal themed series tend to have animal specific power ups. In Super Sentai the mecha are usually just a way to fight giant monsters unlike in the first seasons of Power Rangers where the Zords were seemingly the source of the ranger's powers. Starting in Rangers in Space Power Rangers got away from linking the power suits to the zords to be more like the source material where the mecha are made to support the rangers.

Like I said before I much prefer the original Super Sentai series to the English adaptations. If you are interested in a specific type of theme I might be able to recommend a series for you to try out. I'm still catching up myself so I haven't seen them all. I've seen Jetman, Dairanger through GoGoV, Goseiger and Gokaiger, and Kyoryuger through now (Zyuohger). I'm also currently working my way through Hurricanger (Ninja Storm).
