Well I'm not entirely sure if we want to speculate what Halo's been on the recieving end of, it'll only end in tears. Mostly ours, after she kills our pets and children.

But for a more depth explanation, HMW2 works on entirely different code from HMW1 which simply means, the databases aren't comptabible.
Plus given that it's an entirely new game, having everyone start from scratch does make far more sense.

Right now there are a couple of properties core to your character. Name, Alt Mode and faction and that's about it. You can multiply that by 3 in HMW2. Robot Modes, faction ranks, functions and a few others make characters in HMW2 different at the most fundamental levels. About the only thing I've taken from the old game is the code that re-colors your images. Including the code and database, that's it. Everything else is new.

I would hope so, but I have a feeling that, even if not, you'll be shunned by society for name stealing much like you would in RL for having social relations with people like me.

I know this is gonna prove unpopuler, but I think there should be a lock put upon using the bigger canon names (Megatron, Gavlatron, Soundwave, Hotrod and most of the other major G1 charecters).
It is a pet hate of mine having 5 or 6 examples of the same charecter, all with completly inapropriate alts, a lot of them with the wrong colour and some of them not even in the right faction. (Bare in mine, I see a lot of this thanks to the xp games.)
The really big canon names should be reserved as prize names or NPCs.
Also, if those were removed from active use, suddenly all the acusations of name stealing would disapear...
Also, can the members of staff who think name stealing is a perfectly apropriate piece of behaviour (you know who you are, if you are bothering to read this) please rmember you are suposed to be setting the standard for behaviour.
