Shortly after this picture was taken, both of these men had killed each other. We ate the brains in trimuph. No riot of violence stands well beside the sport whose name translates into English as "kill-frenzy-berserk-death-ball".

Curling = Darts with rocks. Fun to play boring to watch.

American Football = definatly not boring after finally watching a team do the impossible and get that perfect season. Congrats Detroit Lions, it takes a special kind of team to go 0-16. My only disappointment is that it wasn't the Raiders after the couple of close chances they had.

As for hurling, the name actualy derives from what happens when a player gets a stick across their gut, freeing their lunchs from their human prisons.

A sports team record doesn't mean much when they stand around for 5 mins setting up a 30 second play.

And as JP said, all that body armour. Hit each other like REAL men do in Rugby (be it Union or League)

Football players are bigger and faster on average than rugby players. Many of the offensive and defensive line players being 300+ lbs. The average speed for "skill" players is a 4.4 second 40 yard dash. Body armour is a good idea.

Oh and long live the forward pass. :P

And seriously, why do you lot feel the need to invade out national stadium once a year with your girly version of rugby?

Isnt Nascar to Touring Cars what Indie is to F1? A cheap american knockoff where they go round in circles instead of, you know, using proper race tracks with right AND left turns?

nascar is not a sport, its driving in an oval. swimming is not a sprot, its a way too keep from drowning. Baseball is not a sport, its fetch.

but my point was i thought this was a hmw2 thread not a sports thread

The mods (who are testing the game as OS adds to it) are not allowed to tell us anything.

And OS hasnt posted anything.

When OS posts something, I'm sure you'll see it. Until then, go about your normal business, and ignore this thread if us talking about how everybody else's atempts at sport is better than America's really upsets you so much.

Actually with all that padding, you'd be more inclined to throw your entire body weight into a hit, therefor causing more force. And on an old(because i don't think it's still on) FSN show called Sports Science(kinda like Mythbusters, but for sports and not as funny) they tested the "myth" of which did more damage to one's body, Rugby or Football, surprisingly, they were equal.

They determined Rugby hits are more often throughout a game whereas Football you get that one huge hit every now and then. But this is memory of seeing the episode over a year and half or two years ago, so i would have to find it again somewhere to see exactly what was said.

Both sports are good in their own way, atleast it offers variety and such, i have to side with Football though as the better, because i like the more stradegy in picking the right offensive play to embarrass the other team's defense. But i would also say, i'd like see players from both those sports step on the ice and see how they take a check from someone like Dion Phanuef or Cam Jensen or Scott Stevens and see if they remember what 2+2 equals afterwards, haha.

(EDIT: quick youtube search found it.)

And so i'm a little on topic, can't wait for HMW2, haha.

Ah, humour. I forgot some people didn't have it. Discussion about HMW2 is going to look like a sine wave, ups and downs depending on what we leak and when. So when we leak something juicy (like mumble mumble mumble Castor Troy mumble mumble) it'll pick up. In the mean time, I'm leaving this thread open for light-hearted discussion so it's still available in the future rather than having a bunch of locked HMW2 threads in succession. So lighten up you guys or I'm clamping down.

Also, you forget about the recovery times most American football players have in comparison to rugby lads. Sixteen games a season and the super- and pro- bowls if you're lucky is eighteen games, maybe more if I've missed some sort of semi-final or something. But compare that to regional rugby games, the world cup, the six nations, the four nations, the tri nations, the IRB nations cup... You get the picture. It's a slog. And we're not talking artsy-fartsy Pretender Monster Slog, we're talking grueling schedules.

An NFL season consists of 4 preseason games then 16 regular season games with up to 4 playoff games including the superbowl. On top of this players get one day off a week with the remainder consisting of practice and gameplanning.

After the season is over players get maybe 2 months off before they have to be back for training camps. The year of an NFL football player is anything but soft.

Not forgetting that a rugby player is on the pitch for the full 80 minutes, with only a short break at halftime.

Yank 'footballers' switch between offence and defence teams depending on play so spend half the game on their asses on the bench, that's when they're not taking a time-out or one of the their 3 half-time's.
